The golden feather — the living embodint of Mingyan Zhu’s phoenix fire — still rested in Hei Long’s palm.

It pulsed gently with warmth, but not heat. Like a sleeping heartbeat. Like a child’s trust made manifest.

And with it ca the burden of a promise.

"Give it to the one I should call Mother."

He had made war against gods. Crushed empires. Outwitted immortals.

But this?

This choice felt heavier than all of them combined.

He turned his gaze to the four nas engraved into his heart.

Mu Yexin.Zhao Yuran.Qingxue.Yan Yiren.

Each of them had bled for him. Waited. Loved. Fought.

And now — one would be nad first.

But the rest... the rest still mattered.

Hei Long’s Decision

He didn’t call a court.

He didn’t summon them to a throne.

He did sothing simpler.

More human.

He visited each of them.

Alone.

With the feather in hand.

First: Mu Yexin – The Dream of Laughter

She was waiting in the Dream Garden, reclining beneath illusion-blossoms that shimred with mories.

"I know why you’re here," she said before he spoke.

Hei Long knelt beside her, handing her a cup of tea she used to like — jasmine, steeped with mory ink.

"You saw this coming?" he asked.

"I saw all the versions," she replied. "In most of them, I wasn’t chosen."

"But you stayed."

"Of course I did," she said softly. "I loved you before your na was known."

He reached out and touched her hand.

Her illusions flickered... and vanished.

Only the real Yexin remained.

"I don’t need a crown," she whispered. "Just stay part of my dreams."

He kissed her forehead — gently, reverently.

"You always will be."

Second: Zhao Yuran – The Quiet Alchemist

Her lab slled of herbs, ink, and longing.

Hei Long found her kneeling beside a cauldron, eyes red from too little sleep and too many mories.

"I was working on sothing," she said quietly.

"I know," he replied.

She didn’t look up.

"You’re not here to stay."

"I am. Just not... always."

Silence stretched.

Then she stood and handed him a vial.

Inside was a single drop of glowing liquid — shimring with every color of their past.

"Drink it, and you’ll feel what I felt every ti you left."

Hei Long took it.

Drank it.

And for a mont, he wept.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

Just quietly. A single tear.

She touched his cheek.

"I forgive you," she whispered.

"Yuran..."

"I know you love ," she said, stepping close, head resting against his chest. "That’s enough."

Third: Qingxue – The Sword’s Heart

She was in the training courtyard, ditating.

He didn’t disturb her.

Just waited, like she always had for him.

When she opened her eyes, they t his with calm certainty.

"You’ve chosen."

"I have."

She nodded.

No tears.

No trembling.

Then: "Will you still spar with ?"

"Only if you let win sotis."

She scoffed — a real, rare laugh.

"I want to stand at your side," she said. "No matter what that ans."

"You already do," he replied.

He placed a hand over her heart.

"You never left it."

Finally: Yan Yiren – The Fla That Was Lost

She was already waiting in his courtyard.

Wearing red.

Hair down.

Eyes wide with too much hope and too much pain.

He stepped toward her.

Slowly.

Then placed the phoenix feather in her hands.

It glowed.

So did she.

And when he spoke, his voice broke just a little.

"You died for her.You lived again for .You endured every silence, every scar, every stolen mory. You were her mother before I was ever a father. And you always will be."

Yiren wept — not from grief.

From release.

From finally being seen.

She reached up — fingers trembling — and touched his face.

Then whispered the one thing she never had the chance to say before her first death:

"I love you."

Hei Long kissed her — not as a warrior, not as a manipulator, not as the man who always won...

...but as a father.

A partner.

A man finally ready to stop running.

A Day Later – The Ceremony

No fanfare.

No throne.

Just Hei Long, Yiren, and Mingyan Zhu standing together beneath the ancient Wishing Tree.

Zhu held both their hands.

"Is it strange?" she asked softly. "To feel happy?"

"It shouldn’t be," Yiren said.

"It isn’t," Hei Long added.

Zhu looked up at them both.

And smiled — shyly, softly, the way only daughters can when they’re finally loved without condition.

"Then let’s stay like this," she whispered. "Just for a little while longer."

And the wind didn’t roar.

The world didn’t burn.

No enemy attacked.

Just laughter.

And the warmth of a family finally made whole.

Later That Night – The Fireside

The rest of the won joined them in the garden — not as rivals.

But as family.

Mu Yexin poured wine into floating cups.Zhao Yuran passed out sweet buns shaped like phoenix chicks.Qingxue leaned back on a pillow, letting her hair fall against Hei Long’s shoulder.Yiren brushed Zhu’s hair, humming the lullaby that once sealed her... now a song of freedom.

And Hei Long?

He simply watched.

And for once...

He didn’t need to win.

He already had everything.

There was no mission.

No imperial decree.

No courtly politics.

Hei Long — revered as a shadow prince, a cold manipulator, a walking embodint of control — made a rare declaration:

"We’re leaving."

And so, with no war behind them and no threat ahead, he gathered the won he loved — Yan Yiren, Qingxue, Mu Yexin, Zhao Yuran, and his daughter, Mingyan Zhu — and departed from the Imperial Capital.

Their destination?

The Floating Plum Isles.

A sanctuary of drifting islets strung across the Celestial Sea, where ti slowed, plum trees blood eternally, and even immortals ca to forget the weight of their power.

It was a place for peace.

For healing.

For love.

And Hei Long, for once, ant to take all of it.

Day 1: Arrival

The boat glided silently through mist-laced waters. Plum blossoms floated on the current like falling stars, and as the sun set behind pink-hued cliffs, the air grew warm with spirit energy.

Zhao Yuran leaned against the railing, eyes wide.

"I haven’t been this far from the capital since I was twelve."

"Never left it myself," Mu Yexin murmured beside her, brushing a blossom from her shoulder. "Feels like sothing out of a painting."

At the front of the ship, Qingxue stood like a sentinel — hands behind her back, soaking in every detail. She was quieter than usual. Calr.

"It’s beautiful," she said.

Yan Yiren smiled.

"No," she whispered. "It’s ours. Just for a while."

Hei Long stood beside her, arms folded.

He glanced at his daughter.

Zhu sat cross-legged on the deck, poking a floating blossom with her finger.

She looked up.

"I think this place is too nice for us."

Hei Long smirked. "Maybe. But we’ve earned it."

Zhu smiled.

Just a little.

And the ship docked.

Day 2: Plum Wine & Moonlight

They stayed at a villa built atop one of the drifting isles — its walls made of enchanted glass that reflected stars even in daylight. Spirit cranes sang at dawn. Every evening, the trees blood anew.

The second night, Mu Yexin prepared a private feast on the outer terrace.

Dishes glowed with warm qi. Wines shimred with enchantnt.

Candles floated in the air. Petals drifted without wind.

Yuran braided Zhu’s hair while Qingxue grilled sliced spiritual fish with precise flicks of her blade.

Hei Long simply watched.

Yiren leaned into him, resting her head against his shoulder.

"I think this is what I missed most," she murmured.

"This?" he asked.

"Not the power. Not the palace. Just... this." She gestured at the others. "Peace. Warmth. You."

He said nothing.

But he kissed her temple.

Mu Yexin raised a cup.

"A toast," she called, grinning.

"To escaping the empire, even if only for a week."

They all raised their cups.

Zhu included.

"To the only thing we’ve never had enough of," Qingxue added.

"...Ti."

They drank.

And for once, no one plotted.

No one sched.

They just existed — together.

Day 3: The Island of Echoes

They took a boat to a smaller isle said to amplify unspoken thoughts. A trial island, usually reserved for cultivators seeking spiritual breakthroughs.

Hei Long let the girls explore in pairs.

Zhao Yuran and Mu Yexin strolled the echoing bamboo grove, speaking aloud the secrets they’d never told anyone.

"I was jealous of you," Yuran admitted."I knew," Yexin replied. "I envied you, too."

"Do you still love him?""Every day."

"So what do we do?""We make him better. Together."

anwhile, Yiren and Qingxue ditated near a lake that reflected inner thoughts.

"You’re stronger than I thought," Yiren said."I had to be."

"You still think he’ll choose you?"Qingxue smiled faintly."I don’t think he needs to choose anymore."

Hei Long wandered with Zhu through a plum orchard.

She didn’t speak much.

Until she did.

"Do you really love them all?"

He stopped.

"Yes."

"Won’t that hurt?"

"Sotis," he admitted. "But pretending otherwise hurts more."

She was quiet for a long ti.

Then said:

"Then I’ll learn how to carry that kind of love."

He smiled.

"You already are."

Day 4: Monts of Intimacy

That night, the won took turns pulling Hei Long aside — one by one.

Not for battle.

Not for answers.

Just... to hold him.

Qingxue pulled him onto a moonlit balcony and leaned back against his chest, hand resting over his.

"I used to think being strong ant never needing this," she whispered. "Now I think being strong ans knowing when you do."

He didn’t answer — just held her tighter.

Yuran danced with him barefoot on the warm marble floor of the villa’s garden, her laughter bright, eyes glowing.

"I never got this," she whispered. "A simple night. No fear. No deadline."

"You have it now," he said.

She twirled once, then stopped.

"Then promise you won’t forget it when we go back."

He kissed her — soft, slow.

"I won’t."

Mu Yexin pulled him into the dream-lantern field, lying beside him beneath illusionary constellations.

"You always acted like you didn’t need ," she said. "Even when you did."

"I didn’t know how to need anyone," he admitted.

"You do now?"

He brushed a lock of hair from her face.

"I’m learning."

They fell asleep under the stars.

Together.

Day 5: Mingyan Zhu’s Gift

At dawn, Zhu handed each woman a handmade talisman.

"I infused them with a fragnt of my fla," she explained. "They’ll glow when you’re near soone who truly loves you."

Yexin’s talisman glowed imdiately when Hei Long entered the room.Yuran’s flickered and pulsed when he took her hand.Qingxue’s lit up only when he looked into her eyes. And Yiren’s...

...it burned steadily, like a quiet vow that never wavered.

Zhu just smiled.

"I wanted you all to have proof."

Yiren hugged her tightly.

"You are so much like your father," she whispered.

Zhu frowned.

"Cold and manipulative?"

"No," Yiren laughed. "Loved by people who should know better."

Day 6: A Day Without Hei Long

The won took Zhu to the Singing Shores — a beach of spirit-sand that resonated with laughter.

Hei Long remained at the villa.

Reading. Resting. Thinking.

It was the first ti he was alone in days.

And he hated it.

But when they returned — soaked, sun-kissed, glowing with life — he knew it was worth it.

They needed each other.

Not just him.

They were becoming sothing more than a harem.

They were becoming... a family.

Day 7: Departure

The boat waited.

Bags packed. Spirits refreshed.

Hei Long stood at the dock as the won boarded one by one.

Zhu turned before stepping on.

"Do we have to go back?"

He smiled.

"No. But we choose to."

She nodded.

Then asked, "Will you bring us back here soday?"

He knelt before her.

"I’ll bring you back whenever you forget what peace feels like."

She hugged him.

And for the first ti in his long, bloodstained life...

...Hei Long felt like a father.
