Chapter 113: I Cannot Take This
Leo continued attacking the monsters until there weren’t any nearby, but the cold air was making him shiver. He quickly returned to the barrier, where the warmth made him sigh in relief and the adventurers cheered.
As he landed outside his tent, Richard and a group of n appeared alongside him. The older man spoke in a jovial voice, ’’I must admit your power still amazes , Leo. The empire is lucky they summoned you.’’
’’Yes they are,’’ he answered.
Richard nodded. ’’We will be moving toward the Deathcore Castle in the passage. Perhaps you’d like to stick with us during the journey?’’
Leo looked at the man before responding with a knowing expression, ’’I want triple what the adventurers are getting paid.’’
When the group of rchants heard this, a younger woman stepped forward with a disgusted look on her face. ’’Aren’t you a hero? Aren’t you ant to defend us?’’
He started laughing as she finished speaking, causing them to look at him like he was a swindler, ’’I’m only killing them to level up.’’
’’Yes, I believe we can pay you that,’’ Richard interjected, to calm things down. ’’We have to travel through the Death Swamp before reaching the northern settlents and each of you knows how dangerous that is.’’
Leo watched the other rchants reluctantly nod as the older man continued, ’’It’s winter, which ans the Dark Ones will be lingering on the journey and any adventurer we find in Northwood won’t stand up to the hero here.’’
’He’s trying his best to keep
here,’ he thought before catching sight of a green-haired young woman staring at him.
Without thinking, Leo turned his gaze toward her, which made the woman’s cheeks turn red. ’I wonder if that’s why? She looks like a female version of Richard.’
’’Don’t worry about the gold,’’ he exclaid, which shocked the group. ’’I’m sure I’ll find sothing that catches my eye along the way.’’
When Richard heard this, he nodded with a big smile, ’’Strong and generous! The goddess has blessed our journey,’’ he exclaid.
Leo shook his head before sitting down by the fire as the rchants left him alone after thanking him, but the woman stayed behind. He noticed her orange hair was all over the place and she looked stressed.
He motioned to a nearby spot while offering the older woman a drink. ’’Join
if you like. I have so ale that will calm you down.’’
When the rchant woman heard this, she gave a curt nod and accepted the drink. Settling into her seat, she spoke, her tone tinged with regret. ’’I’m Viora Duskvale. Forgive my earlier attitude, Hero. This journey has been bleeding
of gold, and if it continues, my husband will take my business away.’’
Leo raised an eyebrow as he studied the woman before him. She was noticeably shorter than him, appearing to be in her early twenties. Her orange hair tumbled in wild curls, framing a face illuminated by a pair of glowing grey eyes that seed almost otherworldly.
She was more on the petite side, with perky boobs. Leo shook his head and questioned, ’’Why would your husband steal your hard work?’’
’’The last few jobs I’ve lost more than I’ve gained for the company,’’ Viora said in an annoyed voice before downing so of the ale. ’’This is my last hope.’’
Leo nodded in understanding as a notification popped up which made his eyebrow rise in surprise.

Following that, he took out a pouch of coins and threw it in the woman’s lap, ’’I’ll buy part of your company so it’s safe from your thief of a husband.’’
When Viora heard this, her grey eyes widened in shock before she tried to refuse it, ’’I cannot take this Hero. People will think I’m using you.’’
Leo waved her away with a laugh. ’’I have so much gold and still need to sell all the monster bodies in my storage.’’
The orange-haired woman glanced at him before questioning, ’’Why would you help ?’’
He shrugged and replied honestly after drinking so of the ale, ’’I’m working to gain allies across Duskwood. Most of the army already stands behind , and the people practically worship . The next step is winning over the rchants. What better way to do that than investing in your company and protecting this caravan?’’
[Viora Duskvale - 0-4%]
The young woman nodded in agreent. ’’That’s a good idea, but why would a hero want to gather allies?’’
’’For when I settle down and stop fighting,’’ Leo answered while stoking the fire. ’’I won’t be fighting monsters once I beco the strongest in Thaloria.’’
When Viora heard this, her smile widened before offering her hand, which he took as she spoke. ’’Well, it’s a pleasure to do business with a Hero and I look forward to making a lot of gold.’’
[Viora Duskvale - 4 - 8%]
’’Sa,’’ he replied.
The two of them continued talking until Viora began to nod off, her exhaustion evident. Without hesitation, he scooped her up, and she sleepily pointed toward her tent with a drunk smile, which made him laugh.
’’My bed is over there,’’ she muttered in a slurred voice.
As Leo carried her there, he couldn’t help but notice the adventurers nearby, their amused expressions making it clear they had been watching the entire scene unfold. One of them whistled, causing him to stare at the man, who quickly shut up.
The other n and won burst into laughter at the sight of the typically quiet Leo carrying Viora. Ignoring their teasing, he reached her tent, gently brought her inside, and ensured she was comfortable.
Just as he was about to leave, a thunderous roar echoed through the night, causing the ground to shake. Leo rushed out of the tent and noticed everyone was in a panic talking about a Swamp Titan heading toward the camp.
He sighed before thinking as his excitent for the battle exploded. ’These monsters are going to make
the strongest in Duskwood.’
Leo launched himself into the sky, a motion blur against the night. His sharp eyes quickly locked onto the massive, dinosaur-like creature thundering toward the camp. Without wasting a mont, he hurtled toward the beast, delivering a devastating California Smash.
The impact sounded like a colossal clap of thunder, shaking the earth and lighting up the sky with its force. He watched as the Titan stumbled back, causing him to follow up with several more powerful punches.
When they connected, the monster crashed to the ground, trembling beneath. Its molten eyes glowed like twin furnaces while gazing at him. Seconds later, the Titan got up before making its way toward him, and each step it took left a smoldering crater in its wake.
Leo cracked his knuckles, his gaze steady. ’’You picked the wrong day to attack. Now you’ll help
level up.’’
As he finished speaking, the Titan let out a deafening roar, swinging a massive pair of claws toward him. Leo dodged in a blur, the wind from the blow tearing through the nearby trees like paper.
When seeing the monsters attacked, he chuckled before leaping high, his fist igniting with fiery energy as he slamd it into the Titan’s chest. The ground split beneath them as the force of the punch sent a shockwave rippling outward.
It staggered but retaliated with a swing of its spiked tail. Leo quickly raised his forearms, blocking the strike, though the sheer power sent him skidding backward. He smirked, his blood pumping with adrenaline.
’’Alright, big guy,’’ he said, crouching low as energy surged through his body. ’’Let’s see what you’ve got.’’
Leo soon took off and barreled right for the Titan while readying a Supernova Punch, and when it connected, a loud boom echoed out. He was sent flying back because the shockwave surprised him.
But the force of the blow sent the monster crashing across the grassland before it landed in the nearby lake with a loud splash. When the noise died down, Leo heard the camp cheering for him just as the Titan rose out of the water.
’Not finished, eh? Now let’s end it and put an end to this fight so I can eat more,’ he thought with glowing blue eyes.
Following that, Leo burst forward like a rocket before landing a solid Supernova Punch on the monster which caved in its chest just as it tried to bite him. He quickly dodged the snapping jaws and countered with a California Smash.
When his fist connected with the Titan’s head, it snapped to the side, causing it to collapse onto the ground. Once the fight was over, he sucked the body of the monster into his Item Box, which made him feel like shit.
’I have no more room? Feels annoying, but I’ll get over it,’ he pondered while walking back to the camp.
As Leo got back to his tent and slumped down, he noticed the adventurers were quiet, but he ignored it before falling asleep.
