Alex sat down at the wooden table. He picked up the spoon. He started to eat the chicken stew. Slurp. Munch. Gulp.

He ate it with so much passion. He ate it like he hadn’t eaten in ten years. Violet stood by the sink, wringing her hands together nervously. She was watching him eat.

"Mmm," Alex groaned out loud. "This is delicious, Violet. It is so warm. It is so thick. And it is so incredibly wet. It slides right down my throat."

Violet’s face burned. She looked away at the wall.

’Why does he have to describe soup like that? Why?! It is just soup! It is just chicken and vegetables! Why does it sound like sothing dirty?’

"I... I am glad you like it," she squeaked out.

"Oh, I do," Alex said, looking at her with intense eyes. "I love the taste of your cooking. It is salty and savory. It really satisfies my hunger. But you know... it only makes want more. It whets my appetite for the main course."

Violet pretended she suddenly beca deaf. She pretended she didn’t hear that last part. She quickly walked over and took his empty bowl when he was finished. She washed it in the sink very fast. Scrub, scrub, rinse.

"Well," Violet said, wiping her wet hands on a towel. She didn’t look at him. She looked at the floor. "It is late. It is very late. I should go to sleep. You should go to sleep too. Goodnight, Alex."

She turned around fast. She walked towards the hallway that led to her room. She walked fast because she wanted to escape the awkward tension.

"Mommy. Wait."

The voice was low. It was commanding.

Violet stopped. She froze in her tracks. But before she could turn around, she heard footsteps. Thump. Thump. Thump. They were fast.

Suddenly, she felt a presence behind her. She turned around—

BAM!

A hand slamd onto the wall right above her head!

It was Alex! He was standing right there. He was so close. He was dangerously close. His body was almost touching her body. His tall fra towered over her, casting a shadow on her face. He had trapped her! He had trapped her between his hard chest and the cold wall!

Violet gasped. "A-Alex? What are you doing?"

"I haven’t thanked you yet," Alex whispered. His face moved closer to her face. She could feel his hot breath on her skin.

"T-thanked ?" Violet stuttered. Her heart was beating like a drum in her chest. Boom boom boom. "No! No need! There is no need for thanks! It was nothing! I just... I just did my duty!"

"No need?" Alex shook his head slowly. "No, no, Violet. That is not right. You opened the door for this late at night. You waited for . And you even heated the stew for . You made it warm for my mouth. You were such a good hostess. I should at least give you sothing to thank you."

Violet felt panic rising. She also felt sothing else... sothing hot in her stomach.

"Really... it’s okay..." she whispered weakly.

"No," Alex said. His eyes dropped down to her lips. He stared at her lips. "I need to give you a reward. I need to give you a thank you gift."

He leaned in even closer, until his nose was almost touching her nose.

"A kiss."

"A-a-a kiss?

"Yes, a thank you gift. Like from morning."

"Y-y-you don’t need to thank ---mhm~"

Violet wasn’t able to complete her sentence, when it happened.

Chu.

He pressed his lips against her soft, pink lips. It was a gentle peck. It was a very soft kiss, like a feather landing on a flower. It was barely there, but she felt it. She felt electricity shoot down her spine to her toes!

Violet blinked her eyes rapidly. Blink. Blink.

"A-Alex..." she breathed out, her voice trembling like a leaf in the wind. "I told you... it is alright. You really don’t need to thank . It was just stew. Anyone can heat up stew. It is not a big deal at all."

She tried to push him away with her words. She tried to be reasonable. But Alex didn’t listen to her logic. He didn’t move back. Instead, he leaned in again.

Chu.

He gave her another peck. This one was slightly firr. It was slightly wetter. It landed on the exact sa spot as the first one.

"I..." Violet’s brain was turning into mush. "I... I really... you don’t have to... the door... I just opened the door..."

She was still speaking in between the kisses. She was trying to finish her sentence, but his lips were distracting her so much! How could she form a proper sentence when his handso face was so close?

"Shhh," Alex whispered against her mouth. "Let thank you properly."

He leaned in for a third ti. But this ti, it wasn’t a quick peck. Oh no.

"Al-alex you father is sleeping just--mhmmm~"

He pressed his lips against hers, and he stayed there. He lingered. The peck turned into a press. His lips were hot. They were firm. They molded against her soft lips perfectly, like a puzzle piece finding its ho.

He didn’t pull back imdiately. He kept his mouth there, savoring the taste of her, breathing in her scent.

Violet’s eyes went wide open. Her hands, which were pinned to her sides, twitched. She felt his heat seeping into her.

’Oh my god! He isn’t stopping! He is lingering! He is kissing for real!’

Her thoughts were screaming in panic. Her husband was sleeping just a few feet away from them. If he were to just wake up and walk out of the room, he will see them!

’I should push him! I should slap him! I am a mother! I am a respectable woman in a modest nightgown! But... but his lips are so soft... and he slls so good... like adventure and apple juice...’

She didn’t push him. She stood there, trapped against the wall, letting the "thank you" happen to her.
