284: Chapter 148: The Victim Cos Knocking_2 284: Chapter 148: The Victim Cos Knocking_2 But the Death Knight did not do so, strict with himself and forgiving to others, allowing Wayne to play with his sword, ride his horse.

Such magnanimity was sothing even the bullish Knight Wayne would believe.

Clearly, there was a problem!

Sebastian was surprised by the Death Knight’s actions, deeming them unnecessary, and then realization dawned on him, “No wonder you bypassed your subordinates to establish a new stronghold in Lundan.

However, since that’s the case, why didn’t you summon in Lundan instead of having travel all the way to Paris…”

“Why do you have so many questions?”

Wayne interrupted directly, wielding the final say as leader.

Changing orders was called adapting to the situation, moodiness was called dispensing both grace and authority, and subordinates just had to obey the orders—there was no need for such curiosity.

Sebastian promptly held his tongue.

Seeing him so obedient, Wayne simply went ahead with his question, “While the slab’s seal remains unbroken, let test you—what exactly did I tell you when I assigned the mission?”

He looked down at Sebastian, the two white lights in his eye sockets suddenly shrinking, “If you’re so fond of knights, dare to miss a single word, and I’ll turn you into a Skeleton Knight.”

Sebastian’s heart skipped a beat, cursing his luck that the leader had discovered his imitation.

Hurriedly, he said, “Over the years, I’ve been active in Windsor following the strategic deploynt of The Church, keeping away from Lundan, not to approach, until Guy conveyed your orders, then I…”

The Goddess of Death has a mixed reputation on the God-chosen Continent; aside from a few countries, the Death Church is unable to operate openly, and Windsor is no exception.

Belief in Death exists, but all activities are conducted in secret.

Sebastian, a Golden Mage, also held the position of Bishop and was the highest authority of the Death Church in Windsor.

According to The Church’s orders, he could not leave Windsor without cause, nor could he enter the capital, Lundan.

He was also given another order, to collect information about Lundan and to seize the layouts of the Magic Arrays with imdiacy.

The two orders were not contradictory; Sebastian couldn’t enter Lundan, but that did not an he couldn’t plant spies within the system.

Eclipse Town was very close to Lundan, and Mayor Welsh was a pawn in the plan.

Through the mayor’s bribery, he expanded his network of upper-class connections and blackmailed detailed information about Lundan using the accounts of the bribes.

There were many pawns like Welsh, essentially achieving a presence in Lundan without being physically there.

The Death Knight summoned Sebastian to Paris, causing him to break two orders— to not leave Windsor, and to not approach Lundan.

Guy was the highest authority of the Death Church in Farak.

Because of the presence of the Underworld Great Tomb, the strong were blocked by the Death Knight; life was quite comfortable, and the influence was growing notably.

Through Guy, the Death Knight’s summons was conveyed, and Sebastian, breaking the rules, went to Paris, receiving the mission involving the ring and the stone slab.

“You told that the Obelisk-sealed slab, related to a buried piece of history, once belonged to a fallen deity…”

“The Storms and Thunder God!”

“His na was erased, existent in no known history…”

“Inside the slab resides his Divine Power, scattered across every corner of the God-chosen Continent.

When they reunite, the Divine Power of Storms and Thunder shall be harnessed by the Goddess.”

“The mont the slab manifests in this world, other slab holders can see this location.

You also bestowed upon the Sealing Book…”

Sebastian repeated the exact words without missing a beat, not a word nor a punctuation mark lost.

By the end, he respectfully said, “To break the seal requires a massive surge of the Four Elents.

You bestowed upon four rings; I dare not claim them, intending to return them along with the slab.”

The erased history…

The Storms and Thunder God!

Impressive by na, storm and thunder combined, sounding quite formidable at first glance.

The Book of Greed would once again have its fill.

And there were the initial battles for faith, likely leaving more than one deity fallen.

Wayne, lost in thought and covetousness burgeoning, nodded and said, “Sebastian, it is precisely because it is so important that I took it upon myself to make the journey.

There’s no need to deliver them to Paris; I will take both the slab and the rings with .”

“As it should be.”

Sebastian bowed his head, feeling sowhat dejected.

After all the trouble, he ca away with nothing, and had even lost two major pieces.

The Skeleton Legion, would the Death Knight just take them back to the Underworld Great Tomb?

Sebastian could well imagine how his arch-enemy Guy would react to the news, laughing in utter derangent.

Letters sent every day, writing nothing but hahaha!

Wayne asked a few more questions, ostensibly as an assessnt, demanding Sebastian to answer each one.

To the latter, these questions seed pointless, the answers obvious.

Although the Death Knight was strange today, Sebastian did not suspect an impostor, proving true the saying, “Faith makes people firm; religion makes people foolish,” for once you believe without doubt, you are hopelessly mired.

During the conversation, the lackeys set up several Magic Arrays, bustling to and fro just to please the leader.

Under the combined charge of the rings and the elental forces of the ruins, the energy surged through the Obelisk, striking its apex, where blinding electric arcs surged, spreading across the sky to unleash a vista of thunderous canopy.

The ghastly light illuminated the entire Giant City Ruins, and the white Skeleton, conjured by Sebastian, touched by the lightning, dissipated into wisp of blue smoke.

Sebastian had no ti for surprise, his gaze fixed on the hugely transford Obelisk.

Lightning backflowed down the energy channel, stripping massive chunks of brick and stone along its path, the forceful impact thundering through the earth, and falling boulders caused severe casualties among the miners.
