201: Chapter 118 Who Accuses _2 201: Chapter 118 Who Accuses _2 Wayne glanced at the female knight and then turned his attention to the Holy Grail and the Black Robe.

The Holy Grail was a sacred relic with a certain amount of Holy Light within it.

Its purity was limited, not even enough to fill the gaps between the teeth of The Book of Greed.

It was impossible to obtain Holy Light through the Holy Grail.

It was more like a Magic Seed, through which one could obtain the key to unlock the gate to the Holy Light.

Wayne bowed his head in study, feeling a tickle by his ear, and shifted his head to the side with a shake.

“Sorry, I’m used to standing behind you,” Valkyrie apologized.

It’s fine, even hugging wouldn’t matter!

Wayne’s concept of love was very conservative, conservative to the extent that he only liked won—not only was he conservative, but he was also very tolerant.

He heartily forgave the offense of his first love on the day of August 20th.

“Valkyrie, what do you think of this Holy Grail?”

“It shines with a very dazzling light, a pity it has been tainted, neither pure nor pristine,” she remarked.

Though Valkyrie had limited thought and no potential for further enhancent, she had been imnsely powerful in life with a transcendent level of existence.

Even though she maintained only a portion of her thought, her insight was far superior to Wayne’s.

She saw the Holy Grail’s flaws at a glance; the external sanctity couldn’t cover the malice inside.

It was a corrupted sacred artifact.

Useful, but of limited value.

Wayne was initially perplexed but quickly realized what Bishop Keith had said about the history of the Holy Grail while recounting the previous owner, Noah The Third’s, infamous exploits.

Noah The Third forged seven Holy Grails to carry the sinful blood for purification, which was the primary reason for the contamination of the Holy Grail.

Why bother contaminating a painstakingly forged Holy Grail if there’s no benefit?

It’s enough to purify evil—why go to such trouble?

Empathizing based on himself, Wayne conjectured that Noah The Third’s use of the Holy Grail to hold the blood of sin was not just for purification; he must have borrowed the Devil’s power to fight the Devil.

Based on this speculation, Noah The Third was a pragmatist who should have joined the Liberty Mage Alliance.

“What a pity…”

Wayne shook his head, regretting underestimating the abilities of the Thousand-Eyed Demon’s servant.

Had he known the opponent was formidable, he would have bargained to acquire the Holy Shroud instead of settling for a Holy Grail.

“Compared to the Holy Grail, this Magic Robe is undoubtedly more pristine.”

Valkyrie picked up the Black Robe, closed her eyes, and attempted to dissipate the surface disguise.

After three tries, she was unsuccessful.

Opening her eyes, her expression grave, she said, “Wayne, where did you get this Magic Robe?”

“Spoils of battle; I took it since no one else wanted it,” Wayne truthfully replied.

He had personally turned the owner into a corpse, so the spoils were rightfully his.

With a nod, Valkyrie said, “The real appearance of the Magic Robe is not like this, it’s been altered by the thoughts of a powerful being to its current form.

I lack the power to restore it; you’ll need to don your Armor for that.”

Then just do it, it’s not the first ti anyway.

Wayne put Valkyrie on, felt the embrace from behind, their palms and back of hands tightly pressed against each other, all four hands grasping the Knight’s Sword, summoning the light to dispel the malice.

The dazzling light spread like ripples, echoing around the study.

The Magic Robe’s back lit up with an Inverted Pentagram Magic Array, and a black magic shadow rose from the ground, forming an indistinct shadowy outline in the study.

On one side stood the Sun Knight holding radiance, while on the other was a dark evil shadow from Hell, starkly contrasting energies clearly demarcated, each dominating a half in stark opposition.

The strength of the darkness was temporary, overwheld by the incessant flow of light, causing the Inverted Pentagram Magic Array to dissipate and revealing the true form of the Holy Shroud.

Wayne held up the square piece of linen, and through the light, he could see patches of mottled, indistinct outlines.

“This is…”

His eyes lit up, he thought of the treasure in the Saint Dominic Cathedral—the Holy Shroud.

Brilliant, so the Holy Shroud has returned to its rightful owner too!

“This Shroud once wrapped the corpse of a Devil, its bloodstream containing the purest of sins, a truly rare treasure,” Valkyrie whispered in Wayne’s ear.

What?

Wayne suspected he had heard wrong: “As far as I know, this is the Holy Shroud, which enshrouded the remains of a saint from Heavenly Father’s Court.

Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

“Heavenly Father’s Court…”

Valkyrie frowned in disapproval, and said with revulsion, “They masquerade as beacons of light to harvest faith, a bunch of hypocrites; nothing they do would surprise .”

Wayne was sowhat taken aback.

Hearing the tone of the Knight Teacher, it seed that the relationship between Heavenly Father’s Court and the Sun Church was far from cordial, nothing like the harmony of the present.

Given that both were players of light, and colleagues could be competitors, mutual disdain and contempt seed only natural.

The Valkyrie evaluated the blood of the devils from Hell as vile but also acknowledged that the Holy Shroud was a rare treasure.

After a thorough sensing, she said, “That’s right, the light within the shroud has been exhausted, it’s very pure, with a bit of reworking, it can be made into a piece of armor.”

The Valkyrie planned to transform the Holy Shroud into an undergarnt, to be worn under the knight’s armor as chainmail.

Wayne couldn’t agree, as tis were changing, chainmail was too ostentatious, and a suit would be more convenient for everyday wear.

Since the reworked Holy Shroud would be worn by Wayne, his opinion mattered more.

The Valkyrie did not insist, and asured Wayne’s arm length with both hands, then from the shoulders down to the chest, abdon, and legs.

Wayne: (⁄⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄⁄)

Big sister’s hands are so soft!

The effect was diocre.

Wayne’s blushing face was devastating to the Dragon Blood Girl, but the mature and steady female knight was not swayed at all.

Seeing the Knight Apprentice so bold as to tease even the teacher, she smiled and pinched hard on his leg.

“Hiss——”

Wayne sharply inhaled a breath of cold air.

“My thinking cannot shape it in a short ti, I’ll give you the clothes in ten days.”

“No problem, I can wait.”

Wayne left the study grinning through clenched teeth.

Once the door closed, his face imdiately stopped hurting.

He raised his hand, erecting his index finger, and a sliver of Holy Light erged from the tip, the glow acquired from the Holy Grail, which was limited in quantity and not useful in actual combat.

As he switched to The Book of Greed, a mass of black liquid erged at his fingertip, sticky like crude oil, derived from the power residing within the Holy Shroud.

Similarly limited in quantity, it was not valuable in combat either.

However, he now held two keys, one to Heaven and one to Hell, and in the future, he could blend in with either organization by pretending to be one of them.

Overall, Wayne was quite satisfied with his haul, having picked up quite a few things, for it’s a loss not to pick up things found on one’s path.

Not picking up things along the way would be regrettable.

————

September 9th.

Comrcial Street Detective Agency.

Agency head Wayne conducted his routine check, chatted with the two front desk ladies for five minutes, then went into his office to browse through the files and archives.

The Detective Agency had just opened, and as the boss, he should have been striving to expand and strengthen the business, but instead, he had been delayed in Jianhe County for four or five days, disappearing for so long, so he had to put in so effort today no matter what.

On the opening day, the White Glove Association sponsored two cases out of goodwill.

Wayne had tasked Wesley and Mona with handling them.

Mona was very efficient in her work.

Including the ti spent on the train trips to and from the site, the case took her only two days in total.

When settling the case, Wayne gave her thirty percent of the earnings, as agreed in the contract.

He himself had not done anything and earned a clean seventy percent.

That’s what being a boss is like, employees strain themselves to work hard, and if he didn’t exploit them, would he even be human?

Besides, he didn’t exploit them much.

Assistant Wei was paying out of his own pocket for work and even funded the building of the Detective Agency for the boss, didn’t make a di and was continuously investing, and he never said a word about it.

So, upon learning that Veronica took the day off, Wayne too had no complaints.

Veronica also skipped work!

“Unbelievable, leaving good work aside, lazing around all day, do you deserve the salary Veronica pays you!” Wayne gestured grandly and put an ‘X’ on Veronica’s perfect attendance chart.

Dock a full day’s pay plus the attendance bonus, and when accounting tallies the books, count this money towards the Detective Agency’s earnings.

Elsewhere, Wesley’s investigative case still had no leads, five days had gone by, and the wealthy person’s missing son—or rather their pet dog—hadn’t been found.

Finding a pet dog can be easy or hard, it largely depends on luck, Wayne didn’t bla Wesley and asked him to hurry up, giving him three more days.

If it was still unresolved, he would let Mona step in.

Mona was a Mage and, with her thods, finding a dog would definitely be a snap.

After trying hard all morning, Wayne received a call from Hefei in the afternoon and drove to Lando Manor.

Wayne had successfully constructed a Hexagram and graduated from being a Mage’s apprentice; it was ti to learn so practical combat techniques.

In the northeast corner of Lando Manor, situated ten ters underground, similar to an air-raid shelter, the base slowly opened to Wayne.

The base was vast, custom-made by Austin for his wife and daughter, comprising two levels made entirely of steel with additional Magic Arrays laid for reinforcent and strengthening, specifically designed for combat training.

Hefei changed into long pants, a white sleeveless vest showing her slender arms and shoulders, and beckoned Wayne with a hook of her hand:

“Hit .”

“Co at with all your strength, sister wants to test your punching power.”
