On the God-chosen Continent, there are only five nad goddesses, all of whom were once mbers of the Life Alliance. Ordinary people are unaware of the situation with the Goddess of Death, but the Sun and Moonlight Goddesses must know sothing. The Nature Goddess is pressing ever closer, leaving them little ti.
"Either at the table or on the nu, what role does Darkness play in all this?"
Wayne had no ti to ponder further, as two strange auras suddenly descended. The divine pressure, unique to gods, flashed and disappeared in an instant. Both the Sun and Moonlight Goddesses simultaneously manifested within the Holy Maiden of his Church.
Cote slowly rose, her fiery red hair dancing without wind, her golden eyes blazing brilliantly, and a faint halo of light radiating from her figure. In her elven form, her physique beca even more graceful, and her features softened slightly.
Guinevere’s elven transformation was the complete opposite of Cote’s. A cool halo of light surrounded her, her platinum blonde hair cascading soundlessly like a tranquil waterfall to her waistline—elegant, but unfathomable, carrying a sense of detachnt that surpassed the dancing flas’ liveliness.
Hot and cold, gold and white, front and back, above and below—the Sun and Moonlight complented one another in countless ways.
"Knight Wayne, we humbly welco the goddesses!"
Wayne pressed a single hand against his chest and bent forward solemnly, his expression reverent, as though embarking on a pilgrimage.
He did not deliberate over whether to offer a hand-kissing gesture. At a first eting, over-exerting oneself would only backfire and lead to misunderstandings from the gods—misunderstandings like viewing him as a lecher or disrespectful rogue.
"Wayne..."
’Guinevere’ slowly opened her eyes, her silver-white cold gaze scrutinizing Wayne’s features—eyes that seed capable of seeing through human hearts, making all things in the mortal realm bare and exposed.
The effect was middling. She saw nothing within Wayne.
If she had to describe it, there was only emptiness—a pale void, a chasm of yearning desperate to be filled.
A desolate abyss!
When you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes back into you.
While the two goddesses observed Wayne, Wayne, too, studied them. Within the Holy Maiden’s exterior, he saw two embodints of light and shadow.
The golden brilliance was not overly dazzling, and the pure white glow was not impeccably flawless. On the twilight of dusk, beneath the pale moon, the two goddesses wielded trendous power, but each bore a price comnsurate with their strength.
Wayne’s view wasn’t entirely clear—everything remained shrouded and indistinct. He couldn’t perceive the true faces of the Sun and Moonlight Goddesses.
Unless he received the thoughts of both goddesses and turned them into his own form.
Such musings felt sowhat far-fetched. The Sun and Moonlight’s understanding of Wayne was far inferior to that of Darkness. Darkness had placed a huge wager on Wayne, and these two followed in her wake, their hands occupied with chips, evaluating the circumstances before committing further.
Even supposing the Sun and Moonlight Goddesses willingly handed over their thoughts for Wayne to corrupt, he had already experienced one failure in corrupting Darkness. Therefore, he wouldn’t believe in gains falling from the heavens.
Death was a different matter—working out exercises in the Divine Nation truly had potential.
After a brief exchange of glances, Wayne smiled warmly at the gods: "My goddesses, I learned of your arrival from the Holy Maiden’s lips. I am here especially to await your Divine Decree. With due humility, may I ask—what guidance do you have for ?"
"You’ve drawn too close to Darkness, which is exceptionally unwise. As the God-chosen Knight of both the Sun and Moonlight, you should distance yourself from Darkness and regard it as your mortal nesis..."
The Sun Goddess remained silent, while the Moonlight Goddess continued speaking. She first affird Wayne’s identity as the God-chosen Knight, then denounced Darkness, all the while tactfully refraining from ntioning Nature.
Evidently, although chosen by three gods, in the Moonlight Goddess’ words, Nature was subconsciously omitted.
Likewise, she did not ntion Wayne’s apparent cri of stealing a Divine Artifact.
A mature goddess would not concern herself with such trivialities. Those attempting to steal a Divine Artifact were re thieves; those successfully stealing one were God-chosen—that was the reality.
Wayne internally nodded. The Moonlight Goddess’s logic was solid, and he found her words quite agreeable.
"Darkness has tried to tempt you. I have so guesses about her intentions. She likely worries that your growth would impact the Dark Church’s mortal interests, hence attempting all possible ans to corrupt you into Darkness, making you her weapon."
The Moonlight Goddess spoke slowly: "Wayne, my knight, you failed to resist the temptation of Darkness. I am not disappointed in this—you’re still maturing, far from your peak. During this ti, committing a few errors of no serious consequence is inevitable."
What a masterpiece of rhetoric! The Moonlight Knight had been involved with the Dark Saintess and the Dark Knight, seized the Twilight Deadlock—a privilege exclusive to the Dark Knight—and all signs pointed to a literal blaze of condemnation. Yet, in the Moonlight Goddess’s words, it amounted to no more than a harmless mistake.
"Mistakes are forgivable, as long as you recognize them and and them. You are still my God-chosen Moonlight Knight."
The Moonlight Goddess smiled faintly: "My knight, are you willing to rectify your mistakes? With all your courage and resolve, will you solemnly swear before that, from this day forward, you shall wield your sword solely for ? In both prosperity and adversity, whether in the Mortal World or the Divine Nation, will your loyalty remain steadfast and your presence unwavering by my side? Are you willing?"
"I am willing!"
Wayne nodded firmly. The phrasing sounded peculiar, but it hardly mattered. Attitude was what counted.
As he suspected, the next step would naturally be the reward and acknowledgnt stage.
But that wasn’t the case.
The Moonlight Goddess retreated one step, and the Sun Goddess stepped forward, repeating the exact sa dialogue as before.
"My knight, would you be willing to and your ways... From this day forward, shall you wield your sword solely for ... Whether in smooth or troubled tis... Are you willing?"
"I am willing!"
Wayne once more nodded firmly. Saying the sa vow twice gave him an inexplicable sense of granularity burning within.
Additionally, the Dawn Admonition was a spear and the White Night Purity Words were a bow—what use was it to make him wield a sword? The sword belonged to other gods’ Godchosen Artifacts.
Nonetheless, since neither goddess minded, he refrained from making any remarks that might disrupt the sacred atmosphere.
