Chapter 801: Chapter 297 【Hypnos Pen】

The battle between the demon and the hero lasted for three days and three nights, ending only on the evening of the third day above the marsh.

During this ti, the Hydra tried several tis to make its case, but naturally, Heracles could not believe its words.

A demon that had just been slaughtering in front of him, regardless of whether the old man before had been killed by it or not, whatever issues lay between them, the sins committed by the Hydra over the past thousand years were indisputable.

Thus, the young hero ignored the demon’s clever excuses. The Hydra, throughout the battle, gradually beca fierce and lost its rationality.

From morning to night, then from night back to morning.

Throughout those three days, Heracles finally did not disappoint.

...

He decapitated eight of Hydra’s heads but, with Ande’s help, kept them connected to the body so the Hydra couldn’t grow new ones.

He buried the eight heads deep in the Earth to keep them from ever seeing each other again.

However, the undying Snake Demon still possessed a formidable life force, and the severed heads continued to bleed poison ceaselessly.

The poison blood contaminated the soil, spreading to the surface and creating eight vast poisonous marshes.

Various insects and rodents began to reproduce there, fostering an ecosystem distinct from the outside world.

As for the body of the Hydra, it was also dismbered.

Its organs were removed, and the Hydra lost its strength.

The poison teeth were extracted, stripping it of its ability to resist.

The young hero finally used his imnse strength to lift a corner of a mountain and buried the main head of the Hydra deep within.

Thus, so long as nothing unexpected occurred, it could no longer do harm in the world.

“Human, you will regret this.”

Beneath the mountain, though stripped of its poison teeth, the Hydra remained ferocious.

However, compared to before, its mindset had sowhat improved.

For so unknown reason, though it was now in a pitiful state, the ominous premonition that had lood over it seed to have disappeared.

It was as if the knife that had been poised at its throat had been removed, or perhaps the knife-wielder had found a more suitable target.

“You killed for the sake of humans, you acted on the gods’ will, but powerful mortal, do you really know their true nature?”

“You have rely listened to their side, thinking of them as just and as evil.”

“But my killings were for sustenance; if I was not worried about famine, I rarely took lives willingly. Even when searching for food, I never cared whether my prey was human or beast, unlike your kind and the gods.”

“Those who eat humans out of hunger can stop when no longer hungry; but those who do not eat out of hunger, what will stop them?”

“Even you might just be food for them, except you are unaware of it.”

“…Demon’s lies.”

Listening to Hydra’s heart-piercing words, Heracles had no reaction.

“Hah, whether you believe it or not, I still want to tell you another perspective of truth.”

“I believe that one day, you will walk a different path from the gods… Perhaps then, you will understand how great the King of All Monsters truly is.”

Hydra’s core head shook slightly, then a transparent crystal erged from it.

Heracles didn’t know what it was, but Ande, witnessing the sa scene, signaled him to take it.

“That’s a segnt of mory, and judging by the Hydra’s action, this is probably the legacy it inherited from the King of All Monsters, Typhon.”

“The death of Typhon, I’m not entirely clear about the events before and after. Perhaps with its help, you’ll be able to see through the obscured history.”

“Alright.”

Nodding, Heracles picked up the crystal and then completely suppressed the Hydra under a high mountain.

With a loud boom, the Earth trembled slightly, and the once unrivaled demon was thus suppressed beneath, never to erge.

Finally ridding the world of the Hydra and completing another trial, the young hero felt he had gained much.

His experience had grown greatly, and he understood many things previously unknown to him.

However, recalling Hydra’s last words, Heracles couldn’t help but feel a slight interest in the mythical King of All Monsters.

Typhon, the most terrifying demon ever, once made even the Divine King falter.

What might such a being have left in its mories?

“No rush, let’s first leave this place.”

Storing the crystal stone, Heracles was in no hurry to examine its contents.

Though the young hero was not afraid of the toxic barrier here, it didn’t an he enjoyed the ambiance.

Moreover, although victorious in the previous battle, that didn’t an he was unscathed.

Hydra’s poison was truly dreadful, and lion skin couldn’t cover his entire body.

Thus, inadvertently, Heracles did get contaminated with so venom. Though not a grievous injury, it still couldn’t be taken lightly.

Now that his mission was complete, Heracles embarked on the return journey.

However, what surprised him was that, halfway through, he encountered soone who should have already disappeared.

He was a young man with dark hair, tied to a big tree and clearly had been unconscious for a long ti.

The young hero naturally rescued him, but the outco surprised him.

“You’re saying you’re Amon?”

“Weren’t you killed by Hydra?”

Heracles frowned slightly and asked the young man who was wolfing down his food.

Had he been deceived again? But the old man who had led the way was dead—what would he gain by deceiving him?

“Hydra? I don’t think so.”

“I was just robbed by bandits on my way to Silver Moon City… As for you, I’m grateful you saved , but we haven’t t before, have we?”

The young man, clearly starving for days, bit into a flatbread and asked in return, sowhat curiously.

“Hmm… it seems I was mistaken.”

After a mont of silence, Heracles reflected, but found himself at a loss for words.

Indeed, the old man had never ntioned that Amon was dead; he had only said he was missing.

Although Hydra was the most fearso creature around here, it wasn’t necessarily responsible for every misfortune in the area.

Thus, everything made sense.

From Hydra’s perspective, it indeed hadn’t killed Amon… but its death wasn’t entirely undeserved either.

After all, ng Yi’s hatred was rely a catalyst; the creature had killed countless mortals over the centuries.

Whether or not ng Yi provided guidance, he would have eventually co to kill it.

Realizing his mistake, Heracles quickly ca to terms with it.

He apologized to the young man and then related what had happened in ng Village.

For a mont, the young man nad Amon looked profoundly impacted. Heracles saw in him a reflection of himself when he had killed his kin.

Both were tornted by a mistake that led to the death of loved ones, making them eerily similar.

“…so, Hero from Thebes, you’re undertaking this quest to complete the deity’s trial and uncover the secret of resurrection?”

After a long ti, the young man, appearing to have recovered from the shock, asked.

“Yes, the legendary final dwelling of All Spirits is the Spirit Realm, where the thod for resurrection resides.”

“However, the journey is long and arduous, unattainable for most.”

Recognizing the young man’s intentions, Heracles advised him.

Yet, suddenly realizing that his relatives and neighbors had died because of him, Amon was not about to give up.

“I wish to accompany you, and I am not as fragile as you might think. Since you t my grandfather, you must have noticed sothing unusual about him.”

“You an—”

Taken aback, Heracles quickly realized what he was hinting at.

If by unusual, there was indeed sothing peculiar.

The venomous fog of Hydra was lethal, and ordinary people likely would have perished from the swamp’s gases before even reaching it, but the old man nad ng Yi had withstood it unfazed, navigating the area with ease.

“That’s a secret technique of our family; we know certain secret arts. Though we’re not powerful, we can be of great assistance in many situations.”

“And whether you wish for my company or not, I’ll continue to seek the secret of resurrection. Knowing this, will you still refuse ?”

The young man asked again, and after a brief hesitation, Heracles finally nodded his acceptance.

Given the long journey to the Spirit Realm, he could use the ti to gauge the young man’s capabilities.

“Ande, what do you make of this fellow?”

With another mber joining their group, Heracles still harbored so doubts about Amon’s inclusion.

After all, he knew very little about him… though, truthfully, he knew just as little about Ande.

“As for him… I don’t see any issues. But from many years of experience, this man nad Amon gives an odd feeling.”

The puppet hadn’t spoken, yet his voice still reached Heracles’s ears.

“Everything about him seems normal, but there’s a discordant vibe… It’s a pity, if I could find that Divine Artifact, maybe I’d be able to discern if there’s sothing amiss with him.”

“Divine Artifact, are you referring to the Splatter Mirror you ntioned before?”

Heracles thought to himself, expression unchanged.

“No, that is a Divine Artifact of the Space Domain, but it’s of little use to . What I seek is the legendary Hypnos Pen.”

The puppet’s tone carried a trace of emotion, and with a flip of its tiny hand, a small book appeared.

It was a gift from the Divinity who had once bestowed him his divine nature, which he nad “Ande’s Scriptbook.”

“As for the Hypnos Pen…”

“It is said to be a product of a rebellion, an existence nearly at the pinnacle of True God was thus exiled.”

“However, his imaginary creations beca real, truly possessing so incredible might.”

“If one day you enter the Spirit Realm, perhaps you might see it too.”

Ande didn’t take it seriously, doubting Heracles would be so fortunate, but the young hero made a ntal note.

Hypnos Pen… he’d search for it if the opportunity arose.
