The cosmic battlefield hung suspended in perfect equilibrium. Yue Yun's stellar-charged staff and Hell Asura's annihilation spear hovered motionless within the masked man's temporal distortion field, their energies slowly unraveling into nothingness.
Yue Yun's golden-crow eye pulsed as it analyzed the spaceti anomaly. The masked man's control was absolute - each particle of their attacks being systematically erased from existence.
Hell Asura's crimson eyes narrowed behind his obsidian visor. Without words, he twisted his spear, causing black cracks to spread through frozen space.
A silent understanding passed between the two warriors.
Yue Yun's phoenix wings inverted their flas, switching from rebirth to purification. The vermilion fire turned white-hot, searing against the temporal prison.
Simultaneously, Hell Asura's spear vibrated at cosmic frequencies, matching the void's natural resonance.
CRACK!
The temporal prison shattered.
Yue Yun's staff continued its trajectory unimpeded, now enhanced by Hell Asura's void resonance. The masked man raised both hands in a cross-block, but for the first ti, his defense showed strain.
The impact sent shockwaves rippling across light-years of space, destabilizing nearby star systems.
Yue Yun and Hell Asura moved in perfect sync - her staff strikes complenting his spear thrusts, their energies intertwining.
Yet the masked man flowed between their attacks like smoke. When Hell Asura's spear ca within inches of his heart, he simply stepped sideways - into a fold of spaceti that shouldn't exist.
"You misunderstand," the masked man said calmly. He raised both hands in a strange gesture.
Yue Yun's golden-crow eye flared. "Temporal recursion!"
Hell Asura reacted instantly, crossing his spear to form a void barrier. Just in ti - their own attacks ca rebounding back at double strength.
BANG!
Yue Yun's phoenix wings wrapped around them as the reflected strikes impacted. The cosmic void flashed white-hot.
When the light faded, both warriors bore wounds. Hell Asura's armor had cracked along one shoulder. Yue Yun's right sleeve had disintegrated, revealing azure scales beneath.
The masked man remained pristine. "This battle was decided before it began."
A sudden spatial distortion rippled through the battlefield. The masked man's sleeves fluttered as he raised both hands, palms facing outward.
BOOM!
An invisible force slamd into Yue Yun and Hell Asura simultaneously, sending them hurtling through the void. They crashed through several floating celestial fragnts before regaining their footing.
The masked man didn't pursue. He simply stood there, hands clasped behind his back once more, watching them rise from the cosmic debris.
"Everything in this world has already been decided," he said calmly. "From the first spark of creation to the final breath of this universe. You are all rely pawns moving across the grand chessboard."
Yue Yun wiped blood from her lip, her golden-crow eye never leaving the masked figure. "Bullshit."
The masked man tilted his head slightly. "You doubt?"
"Fate can be rewritten." Yue Yun said coldly.
A dry chuckle escaped the masked man. "Can it? Then tell - did you choose to be here today? Or were you led here by countless preceding events?"
He gestured to the crumbling battlefield. "Every decision, every action, every so-called 'choice' was simply the inevitable result of prior causes."
Yue Yun's phoenix wings flared. "If everything's predetermined, then why bother fighting at all?"
The masked man spread his hands. "Because my role is to usher in the new order. Just as yours is to resist it. Both paths were written long before we took our first breaths."
Swoosh!
Hell Asura suddenly lunged, his spear piercing through space-ti itself. The masked man sidestepped effortlessly.
"You see?" he continued, as if discussing the weather. "Your attack was predictable. Your movents calculable. Just as your next ten strikes will be."
Yue Yun's staff ignited with six-colored flas - azure, white, black, crimson, gold, and vermilion. "Then calculate this."
She shot forward, staff spinning like a collapsing star.
BANG!
The masked man blocked with one hand, but the impact forced him back half a step.
Hell Asura struck simultaneously from three different angles, his spear splitting into afterimages. The masked man weaved through them all, his movents precise and economical.
"You still don't understand," he said, almost sadly. "Even your defiance is part of the script."
Yue Yun's golden-crow eye blazed. "Then let improvise."
She suddenly reversed her grip on the staff and slamd the butt-end into her own chest. Blood sprayed from her lips - but the shocking move disrupted the masked man's predictive calculations for a split second.
Hell Asura seized the opening. His spear found purchase, grazing the masked man's shoulder.
Puff!
A single drop of black liquid oozed from the wound.
The masked man examined it curiously. "Interesting. But aningless in the grand sche."
Yue Yun spat out more blood, her eyes burning with defiance. "Every sche has its weak point."
The masked man sighed. "Very well. Since you insist on seeing the truth..."
He raised one hand toward the crumbling Primal Chaos Wall. The debris parted, revealing a swirling vortex of chaotic energy. Within it, shadowy figures moved - countless versions of this sa battle playing out across infinite realities.
"In ninety-eight percent of tilines," the masked man said, "you lose here. In the remaining two percent, you delay the inevitable by re hours."
Yue Yun's grip tightened on her staff. "Then we'll make a ninety-ninth outco."
The masked man actually chuckled. "That's why I find you fascinating. Even facing certain defeat, you still—"
His words cut off as the entire battlefield suddenly darkened. An oppressive, ancient presence descended upon them all.
The masked man turned slowly. "Ah. Right on schedule."
The cosmic void trembled as a new figure erged from the darkness. Clad in pristine white robes, her long black hair flowing like ink in water, Yun Ling stepped forward with a blue sword gleaming in her hand.
"Tantai Sun," she said calmly. "It's been a while."
The masked man—Tantai Sun—tilted his head slightly. No surprise colored his voice. "Yun Ling. I expected you'd co."
"Tantai Sun?" Yue Yun furrowed her brow. "He should have been dead a long ti ago."
Tantai Sun was the younger brother of Tantai Lanling, a close disciple of the God of Order in her tiline. He should have perished during the final war between the Primal Chaos and the Realm of Chaos there… Yet he had appeared here.
Yun Ling's gaze never left Tantai Sun. "Soone saved him."
Tantai Sun chuckled, the sound dry and hollow. "Death is relative when you serve the Lord of Chaos."
"So, you have beco Nian Shi's pawn. I guess a lapdog will always be a lapdog," Yue Yun said with a hint of mockery.
