Chapter 254: Chapter 253: eting Again
…
Two days later, in M City.
When Chaoyang returned to the castle manor, it had beco eerily quiet. At the entrance, it wasn’t a guard or a butler who welcod him and Ailuodi, but K himself.
He was still seated in his wheelchair, no different from before. Dan stood behind, hands clasped behind him, looking at the two with an added asure of respect.
“Has everyone left?” Chaoyang casually asked.
“Yes. Now it’s back to its usual state,” K said, his lips curving slightly, probably into a smile, “If you two find it too quiet, I can arrange for so lively entertainnt to liven things up.”
“That won’t be necessary,” he cleared his throat and said.
In a way, Chaoyang quite liked the castle as it was now—the distant mountains stretched continuously, and the butler had said that snow would cover their peaks in winter. The garden was deeply tranquil, with winding paths partially hidden amongst the greenery. There was even an outdoor swimming pool on the second floor, maintaining a constant temperature of about 25 to 26 degrees Celsius, where one could soak and take in the view of the main tower clock and the foothills beyond. Previously, with outsiders around, he had felt restrained, but now with only their own people, the ambiance was entirely different.
More importantly, there was a buffet restaurant open for twelve hours a day and constant internet connectivity—perfect for soone who disliked wandering around.
The only issue was that it was too extravagant.
Although the guest rooms might not open even once a year, they were equipped like those of a hotel—it only showed that the manor’s owner knew how to live well.
As if reading his thoughts, K said, “You are always welco here. At any ti of the year, for any length of stay, you will be treated with the utmost seriousness.”
“Is that so?” Chaoyang smiled, “When I get older, I will certainly move in here.”
Ailuodi, however, did not join the conversation, her expression somber.
Clearly she was resistant to the idea of living here long-term.
This surprised Chaoyang, as the castle was undeniably a hundred tis better than her warehouse base.
But he didn’t press further, “The Demon… The incident at Walazak Island, you are already aware of it?”
“We only know the gist of it, the details will only be clear after you’ve explained,” K motioned for Dan to push his wheelchair toward the main tower, “That day, Dan and Miss Dolly were at the Majuro Atoll. They saw the missile fly by and the military lockdown of the naval port. Later, insider intelligence suggested that the Marines landed on the island, and we knew that sothing significant must have occurred.”
“But back to the point—how did you manage to do all this? Why did you attract the attention of the United States Navy?” Dan asked curiously.
“That’s a trade secret,” Chaoyang spread his hands, indicating there was nothing he could do.
While controlling the weapons system of DDG17, he could have, incidentally, blocked the communication channels, preventing the navy from contacting the base. However, he had a simple reason for not doing so: he wanted to leverage their power to help investigate the secrets beneath the island floor. Cyber Eye could access any network information, but without a general direction or keywords, searching the vast sea of information for those snippets wasn’t an easy task.
Take Corona Company, for example, he had been searching for days but hadn’t co across any particularly useful information.
A multitude of companies with the sa na and excessive spam made his search frustrating.
And the intelligence departnts of the United States, with thousands of operatives at the very least, would certainly be more suited to searching the ocean floor for a needle than rolling up his sleeves and doing it himself.
After entering the underground chamber beneath the main tower, Dan, as before, took his leave early, leaving only K to et with the two of them alone.
Chaoyang nodded to Ailuodi, who imdiately recounted the events that had unfolded in the secret base. She did not hide the fact that they discovered an Evil God, a decision the two had agreed upon. Before the crisis was completely resolved, soone should know what they were about to face.
Besides, K had witnessed Demons entering another world, which would make the explanation much more convenient.
After listening, K’s expression didn’t change, but his tone carried a hint of rare surprise, “Incredible—although I’m not fond of using this word, it’s the only one that fits my judgent. I’ll need more ti to digest this information…”
“It’s fine, we appreciate that you believe we are not lying, which is more than most would do,” Ailuodi said softly. “Although Tiffany’s cause of death is confird, we can’t guarantee that other Angels won’t be attacked in the future. According to the so-called cause and effect evil… that thing, there are three fragnts in total. The one located underneath Walazak Island is rely one of them. Perhaps their attack on the manor was aid at capturing a large number of Angels in one fell swoop, to further their experints.”
“Exactly, we have two conjectures,” Chaoyang added. “One, they have a thod to make mutant creatures obey commands, and two, the spy must have been lurking near the main tower at that ti, so they could capture more Angels while they were still weary.”
“Valuable information. I will re-screen the castle staff based on this,” K agreed. “Also… the fragnt of the Evil God’s origin that you found, where is it now?”
Chaoyang placed the briefcase he had brought next to him on the floor and popped open the clasps.
The mont the lid of the briefcase was lifted, a blob of red Sli suddenly leaped out—
“It’s too stuffy in here; can’t you find a more spacious container for ?” The childish voice imdiately appeared in everyone’s minds, “I am a divinity, your creator, and I deserve the most honorable treatnt!”
“That is your main body, not you,” Chaoyang said disdainfully. “Moreover, you don’t need to breathe.”
“Stuffy is a feeling! And there is no difference between us, after fusion we will return to Unity!”
“Really? If my cells were to claim they represent , I would just crush them into a pulp,” Chaoyang retorted.
The Sli closed its “mouth.”
It seed unable to guarantee its response to this question either.
“Ha…” K found himself at a loss for words for a mont.
Ailuodi shrugged, “As you can see, it’s just learned how to communicate with people, and it can’t lie. Apart from hearing its voice even when you cover your ears, we haven’t discovered any other harm.” She paused then continued, “Also, it’s extrely sensitive to energy. If it goes too long without replenishnt, it’ll revert to looking like stone again.”
Speaking of this, she was still quite annoyed; at first, she thought it was especially clingy to her, but as soon as it saw Chaoyang, it imdiately switched its target.
However, the real reason they let down their guard wasn’t that it seed harmless, but because of a mandatory constraint—yes, it had signed a demonic contract with Chaoyang. Without permission, it was forbidden from using its powers at will. Chaoyang’s condition in return was to supply it with a certain amount of wishing power, enough to prevent it from drying out completely.
Originally, Ailuodi ntioned it offhandedly, but to her surprise, a formless entity without hands or eyes could not only sign a contract but also enforce it!
“Harmful? That is Unity! You are all my children; how could I possibly harm you?” the opposition protested. “Of course, if you don’t wish to achieve Unity so quickly, just let
know. If you don’t say anything, how can I guess your thoughts?”
“Why… are we your children?” K couldn’t help but ask.
“Ti gives birth to life, and life gives aning to ti. In a broader sense, all life is created by . If it has not yet been born, it rely ans the ti is not yet long enough,” proclaid the Sli confidently.
