Never mind that these two simpletons were earnestly cramming lessons on A Station with their phones in hand.
After Li Guang stepped onto the stage and saw the dark mass of people below, he instantly sucked in one, two, three sharp breaths of cold air and nearly suffocated himself into unconsciousness. He turned, intending to run back, but then he caught sight of Keke standing sternly in the backstage passage. The foot that had just begun to turn imdiately spun back.
Standing on stage, he struggled to calm himself, Keke’s words from before he went on echoing in his mind.
"There’s nothing to be nervous about. If all else fails, just imagine the people below as waterlons, each head a waterlon, and you’re the jackal growing them."
He didn’t have the ntal capacity to wonder why a jackal would grow waterlons right now; all he could think about was how to open his mouth.
As the beat drew nearer, he simply closed his eyes on stage.
As for the cheers from the audience? His mind was blank. What cheers? He hadn’t heard a thing.
Gradually, aside from the accompanint, his mind fell silent.
The familiar sounds of the music slowly soothed his restless heart.
It sounds like a long ti, but in reality, only a few seconds had passed. From the mont he stepped on stage to when the music cued in, not much ti had passed at all.
With his eyes closed, Li Guang unconsciously started tapping his feet to the rhythm. After blocking out his surroundings, he felt as if he were back in the recording studio, and his body gradually relaxed.
"A long, long ti ago,"
"A dragon suddenly appeared,"
"Bringing disaster,"
"Took the princess and disappeared without a trace,"
As his singing began, many audience mbers who didn’t recognize him instantly got goosebumps.
"What the heck is this awful sound?"
"Hey, is he doing a cutesy voice? A guy doing a cutesy voice?"
"What’s this production team thinking? Are they really letting just anyone on stage? He can’t even do that cutesy voice as well as I can!"
No sooner had they spoken than the lyrics moved to the Teenager’s part.
"I will take up the best sword,"
"Climb the highest mountain,"
"Break into the deepest forest,"
"And bring the princess back before ,"
The few who had just spoken were montarily stunned.
"His voice changed again? This one’s not bad, right? It’s quite clear too. Why did he start with that awful voice? Does he really think anyone likes cutesy voices?"
"Exactly, exactly!"
A group of audience mbers cosplaying Arican comic book characters folded their arms, smirking and pointing fingers mockingly from below the stage, their eyes filled with disdain and disgust.
But just as they finished speaking, the singing voice switched back to that of a little girl.
The smiles on their faces instantly froze.
What is this, a face-slapping combo? Is he actually trying to show us what ’relentless attacks’ ans? Huh?
Getting slapped in the face once could be brushed off; after all, people who didn’t know the truth could easily misunderstand, and they genuinely hated cutesy voices.
But damn it, hadn’t his voice just changed? Why had it circled back again?
Before they could even react, the lyrics had already moved on to the King’s part.
By now, Li Guang, who had found his groove, began to relax even more. He didn’t know when he’d opened his eyes, but even his body had started to move with the music.
"Is it,"
"Dalabengba Bandebeidi Buduobiluweng,"
"Right, right,"
"Dalabengba Bandebeidi Buduobiluweng,"
The rapid vocal changes, the quick yet clear diction, and the dynamic rhythm gradually got the live audience hyped up. Even the few cosplayers who had been sarcastic and disdainful earlier shed their nonchalant expressions and began to listen intently.
"Hero Dalabengba,"
"Rides the fastest horse,"
"With everyone’s hopes, sets out from the castle,"
As the narrative voice kicked in, a series of exclamations erupted from the crowd.
"Holy crap, that’s insane!"
"Is this for real? Are you sure it’s sung by a real person?"
"It must be. I’ve been watching closely, and his lip movents are perfectly synced, not a single error."
"Impossible! Who could pull off sothing so outrageous? This song has such a fast tempo, so many lyrics, and he has to switch between several voices—how is that possible!"
"I don’t believe it either. It’s most likely pre-recorded."
Li Guang, engrossed in his performance, had no idea the audience had already dismissed him as lip-syncing. He was completely imrsed in the song, and the clamor from below the stage gradually reached his ears. Li Guang saw people swaying to the rhythm, many audience mbers waving at him, and so shouting sothing towards him.
In that single mont, his nervousness vanished completely, replaced by an unprecedented sense of joy. A fiery passion surged within him, his blood felt like it was burning, and his dedication to music seed to find sudden release at this mont.
Yes, this was the feeling he had always been chasing.
He loved to sing, but even more, he loved the enthusiastic feedback from the audience when he perford.
During the song’s bridge, just after he finished the dragon’s part, the instruntal interlude began.
Excited, Li Guang wanted to take the microphone off its stand. However, he didn’t know if the mic clip was too tight or if he was too weak and his hand slipped, but the microphone nearly fell to the floor.
Li Guang frantically grabbed it, and two words involuntarily escaped his lips.
"Crap!"
The loud exclamation carried clearly and completely through the microphone.
The audience below was stunned for a mont.
Is... is that part of the lyrics?
In that instant, Li Guang broke out in a cold sweat, his mind buzzing. Just as a stage accident seed imminent, Li Guang suddenly snapped back to reality because the beat was coming in.
He instinctively raised the microphone, only then realizing what had just happened. A blush crept onto his face, and an awkward smile involuntarily tugged at the corners of his mouth.
