“I see,” Shen Ye murmured.
“In your Fourth Epoch, we confird one thing—only by evolving the ‘Gate’ ability can we save ourselves from this grievously wounded and parasitized state,” Lan said.
“In the manner of the Gatekeeper?” Shen Ye asked.
“Exactly,” Lan said as she approached him, looking up at him. She continued softly:
“To fully unleash the Ultimate Power of Epoch, one must master the entire Ultimate Creation.”
“And this requires a special contract.”
“Every Ultimate Creation will not easily initiate such a contractual ritual.”
“Take the Parasitic Empress, for instance—”
“She has searched for a long ti among all beings, prepared many ‘Blood Emperors,’ yet she has never resolved to complete that ritual.”
“So the contractual ritual of the Ultimate Creation is difficult?” Shen Ye asked.
“It’s not about difficulty—first of all, the ritual of the multiverse is entirely different from that of the Parasitic Empress.”
“Secondly, such a ritual is equivalent to acknowledgnt of a master.”
“An Ultimate Creation will never easily acknowledge a master—just seeing how the Parasitic Empress killed countless beings yet could not make up her mind proves this point.”
“Why would it acknowledge a master?” Shen Ye asked.
Lan patiently explained:
“A blade, no matter how sharp, requires a wielder—so does an Ultimate Creation. Only by acknowledging a master can it unleash its greatest power.”
“She deeply wishes to devour us in one stroke, but doing so requires her acknowledgnt of a master; yet she refuses to allow the one she acknowledges to control her—instead, she seeks to control the existence she acknowledges. For this reason, she remains undecided, still searching for a suitable candidate.”
“Understood—hmm?” Shen Ye voiced his astonishnt.
It wasn’t that he was being overly dramatic, but because Lan made a move he could not comprehend.
Lan extended her hand and lifted his chin.
“Shen Ye.”
“Do you wish to know the secret?”
“—The multiverse’s acknowledgnt ritual, once you know how it unfolds, you will understand everything.”
Shen Ye stared at Lan in a daze.
In her gaze, he saw emotions of extre complexity.
The secret was like a mist, seemingly omnipresent, turning all his doubts into darkness, enshrouding the world, leaving everything in a haze.

“It’s Annie.”
Then it was Charlotte.

Shen Ye spoke:
“Separated by the ‘End Star,’ the will of the multiverse on the other side is—”
The matter was of such magnitude, so daunting and unsettling, that he could not continue.
Lan, however, nodded and softly said:
“It’s her.”
“—She hides among the multitude, known as Charlotte.”
“She has initiated the ritual with you.”
“And I have completed the other half required for the ritual.”
“Now, it begins!”
As she finished speaking.
The world’s scenery vanished entirely.
Boundless runes of Truth surged up from the ground, forming an imposing altar city around them.
