Chapter 45: What’s Wrong with Being a Little Evil?
“Go find that Nai Mi and have a talk?” Ai hesitated a little. “Sister He, he ca to Hong Kong Island to kill people.”
He i shook her head. “He used to be a righteous Head-Descending Master, and he did start this — there was room to talk.”
“You don’t know how terrifying evil-side Head-Descending Masters are…”
She looked grave and said, “When I was handling affairs in Nanyang I once t an evil-side Head-Descending Master. Half an hour he was laughing and chatting with people; half an hour later he had killed an entire family.”
“Right now it looked to like two vicious tigers were fighting — we had no control of the situation, because we really didn’t know much about what was happening.”
“I’m a bit worried you’ll be used. By nature I liked to keep things in my own hands.”
“Of course, this really didn’t have much to do with — how to choose was still up to you.”
Ai didn’t know much about Head-Descending either, and had no strong opinion on the matter; the more she thought, the more she leaned toward He i’s view.
“Sister He, can you find where Nai Mi is?”
“I could have the little ghost I kept help look.”
Ai no longer hesitated.
She left He i there waiting and hurried back to Zheng Nan’s house, trembling as she pulled Chen Zhibang outside and said a few words.
Chen Zhibang was startled, then went back into Zheng Nan’s house and told Zheng Nan what had been said.
Zheng Nan’s expression shifted for a mont, and in the end he shook his head and said, “No matter what kind of Head-Descending Master Master Li is, the fact that he saved is real, right?”
“You’re crazy!” Chen Zhibang quickly covered Zheng Nan’s mouth. “Keep your voice down.”
Zheng Nan slapped Chen Zhibang’s hand away. “Do whatever you want to do then — I feel safer by Master Li’s side anyway.”
Ai whispered, “You don’t understand — he’s… an evil-side Head-Descending Master!”
“You don’t understand.” Zheng Nan retorted. “What’s wrong with being a little evil? That Nai Mi is so fierce — if he weren’t a little evil wouldn’t he have killed him already? I liked the evil type, not that nagging righteous type.”
“You go and do whatever you’re going to do; I won’t go. You don’t know what it feels like to be under a curse.”
Thinking back to the earlier monts of despair, he couldn’t help shivering.
Convinced, Chen Zhibang said he and Ai would leave first and, following He i’s suggestion, try to talk to Nai Mi.
Zheng Nan didn’t really believe anything could be talked out, and he didn’t stop them. He only said, “It’s dangerous to et Nai Mi — be careful yourselves. Oh, if you find where Nai Mi is, give a call so I can be prepared.”
Chen Zhibang said nothing more and left with his girlfriend Ai.
Only Zheng Nan remained in the living room.
After making a few calls to hurry the other two, he began to pace anxiously around the living room.
After a brief mont’s hesitation, he knocked on Li Zhen’s door and said to him, “That He i said Master, you’re so kind of evil-side Head-Descending Master and very frightening — she hurried off just now because she didn’t want to see you…”
“Was she really that afraid of ?” Li Zhen felt it was a bit strange.
Nai Mi’s claim that he was seeped in evil was sowhat exaggerated; Li Zhen half believed that his primordial spirit had been eroded by an evil god.
Since he had begun practicing the Head-Descending arts, he actually hadn’t killed many people; he wasn’t that drenched in blood.
How was it that so Head-Descending Master could sense his aura and run away before they even t?
Were evil-side Head-Descending Masters that terrifying?
It shouldn’t be.
That He i seed to have so problem…
Thinking that, Li Zhen looked at Zheng Nan. “Why aren’t you afraid of ?”
Zheng Nan grinned shalessly. “Of course I unconditionally trusted you, Master — if it weren’t for you I’d be a corpse right now.”
Li Zhen laughed. “You’re smart. Did you tell Chen Zhibang your plan?”
Zheng Nan shook his head. “Not Ah Bang yet. I only told Ah Keung, because I needed Ah Keung to find people.”
Seeing Li Zhen’s expression, he added, “That He i said she was going to talk to Nai Mi — I don’t know if it’ll work. I don’t believe any talk will get anywhere.”
“Childish.” Li Zhen judged.
After thinking for a mont he said, “Let them try to find Nai Mi’s location.”
Zheng Nan imdiately stood up. “I’ll stay in contact with Ah Bang the whole ti — if they find Nai Mi’s location, I’ll definitely know right away.”
Li Zhen nodded. “Keep this arrangent secret from Chen Zhibang.”
Although he didn’t know what Li Zhen was thinking, Zheng Nan nodded. “I won’t say anything.”
…
About ten or so minutes later, a bald man who looked seven or eight parts like Xu Jinjiang burst into Zheng Nan’s house, fussing and shouting, carrying all kinds of weapons, both large and small.
He even had a big Guan Dao strapped to his back.
This man was Wu Mingjiang, one of the four who had gone to Nanyang that ti.
Zheng Nan shook his head at the sight. “Wow, did you have to be so over the top?”
“You told to find more weapons, didn’t you?” Wu Mingjiang picked up a hamr and smashed it down. “See how vicious this is? Whether he’s Nai Mi or not, one blow can kill.”
“Why do we need so many weapons? The stuff I asked friends to get has all been delivered to Master Chen.” Zheng Nan rubbed his head and asked, “Where are the people? How many did you ask Master Chen to find?”
Wu Mingjiang had apprenticed under a master of supernatural strikes and had friends in many circles, so Zheng Nan had earlier left the task of finding people to him.
Those who had learned the supernatural strike art weren’t too afraid of Head-Descending Masters.
“Not too many, not too few — exactly ten!” Wu Mingjiang held up two fingers and gestured. “Including us that makes fourteen!”
Zheng Nan was speechless. “I told you to find more people and you only found ten? I lined up more than ten big machetes — a hundred would be more like it!”
“Co on, a hundred? Are you kidding!” Wu Mingjiang pinched his fingers and exaggerated, “Do you know I can’t let the brothers I call go ho empty-handed? There have to be red envelopes, everyone deserves a full massage — do you know how much that costs?”
“Besides, it’s nightti now — more expensive than dayti.”
“Put up more money then — this is a life-or-death problem.” Zheng Nan cursed. “You had money to travel to Nanyang, money to play with won every day, and now when I say use the money to save lives you’re out of cash?”
He waved his hand and held up one finger. “Call a hundred people — give each a big iron rod, we’ll chip in together. We can use Ah Bang’s wedding money first; if it isn’t enough we’ll mortgage the house. In short, we must kill Nai Mi.”
In this era Hong Kong Island was full of small groups.
Spending money to recruit a few people to help was trivial.
The problem was…
Wu Mingjiang hesitated. “Is that necessary?”
Zheng Nan rolled his eyes. “Tell you there’s a Head-Descending Master and ask you to go alone — would you dare?”
“No.” Wu Mingjiang honestly said.
“How about ten people?”
“Still not that brave.”
“A hundred people then?”
“Then definitely yes!”
“Then why did you invite ten people to slack off instead of hiring a hundred who would actually fight?”
With that said, Wu Mingjiang no longer hesitated and imdiately said, “Makes sense — I’ll call people right now.”
“Find so Nanyang arrivals — eighty to ninety percent of them are probably illegal immigrants. Don’t have them go kill Hong Kong people directly; as long as there’s money they’ll do it.”
As he walked to the phone he said, “Everything’s on fire — Ah Bang and Ah Keung still haven’t arrived?”
Zheng Nan said, “Ah Bang ca and left again. Ah Ken was drunk and had to be woken up; he’s probably on his way now.”
Wu Mingjiang completed the call and, with money opening the way, the other side agreed wholeheartedly — a hundred n would be there on call.
Zheng Nan felt a little reassured.
He glanced at the ti — it was already past ten at night.
About forty to fifty minutes later, Zheng Nan finally received a call from Chen Zhibang.
