Zhao Hao and the bandit leader were still locked in a fierce battle. But after fighting for so long, Zhao Hao clearly had the upper hand and was showing signs of a suppressive advantage.

Wen Qingye nodded and said appreciatively, "Your brother’s Swordsmanship is not bad."

Hearing this, Zhao i imdiately replied with pride, "Of course! My brother’s Swordsmanship is considered genius-level even at Celestial Academy. Should I have Zhao Hao teach you a few moves?"

Although Zhao i felt Wen Qingye’s strength was decent, she figured he was still a far cry from Zhao Hao. After all, Zhao Hao was a Refining Essence Fifth Layer Heaven Martial Artist.

Zhao Xia’s face imdiately flushed red. While Wen Qingye’s cultivation was indeed a bit low, she had seen his Swordsmanship just now. Even though she hadn’t fully understood it, she knew one thing for certain: Zhao Hao’s Swordsmanship was far inferior to Wen Qingye’s.

A smile touched Wen Qingye’s eyes as he shook his head. "That’s alright, no need."

Zhao i was about to say more when the bandit leader exchanged a blow with Zhao Hao, feigned defeat, and lunged toward Wen Qingye.

Zhao Xia and Zhao i were both startled and quickly raised their weapons to defend themselves.

"Silver Moon Wushang!"

Wen Qingye was incredibly calm. A cold glint flashed in his eyes as he reacted instantly. His sword moved as if he were a Peerless Swordsman—the sword followed his body, and his body followed his mind. The flash of his sword was like a fleeting shadow. Only one word could describe it: fast!

Under normal circumstances, a Refining Essence Fifth Layer Heaven bandit could have dodged Wen Qingye’s sword. But after fighting for so long, his Heart Spirit had relaxed the mont he broke away. Furthermore, he was charging straight toward Wen Qingye’s sword. It was too late to dodge.

"Eight Desolates Blade Technique!"

The bandit leader gritted his teeth and raised his saber above his head. He spun twice in mid-air, a sharp, cold glint appearing on the blade. A tyrannical aura swept out as a massive amount of Sword Qi erupted from the blade, surging in all directions.

"Careful!" Zhao Xia couldn’t help but cry out when she saw the sharp Sword Qi.

One step, one turn, one strike of the sword!

Like moonlight shining on the ground, it was ethereal and light. The dance of the sword’s light looked less like a killing blow and more like a performance.

"HISS!"

"SWOOSH!"

The two moved with incredible speed, then ca to a sudden halt.

Two cuts appeared on Wen Qingye’s clothes, marked by crimson stains. He did not fall, propping himself up with his sword.

"THUD!"

The bandit leader collapsed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of thick dust.

Zhao Xia hurried to Wen Qingye’s side and asked anxiously, "Are you alright? Let see."

"I’m fine, just a flesh wound!" Sweat beaded on Wen Qingye’s forehead, but he still managed a smile.

Just then, Zhao Hao walked over, his face flushed. If not for his own carelessness, the bandit wouldn’t have had an opening. More importantly, Wen Qingye’s display of Swordsmanship had utterly astounded him.

Zhao Hao couldn’t help but recall how he had praised Wen Qingye’s Swordsmanship back in the small village. The mory now made him burn with sha. Wen Qingye’s Swordsmanship was on a completely different level from his own.

Zhao i walked over to Zhao Hao, pouting as she whispered, "Little Hao, Wen Qingye’s Swordsmanship just now seed really amazing. How do you stack up?"

"?" Zhao Hao shook his head and said self-deprecatingly, "I’m not even in the sa league."

Zhao Xia carefully took out a roll of gauze. After helping Wen Qingye remove his outer clothes, she began to wrap the bandages around him, saying softly, "These are sterilized. The cuts aren’t deep. With a bit of dicinal herbs, they’ll heal quickly."

Wen Qingye nodded and smiled. "You ca well-prepared."

"Yes, it’s always good to be over-prepared when traveling," Zhao Xia said, looking up to et Wen Qingye’s smile.

Zhao Hao bit his lip, looking at Wen Qingye seriously. "Brother Wen, was that the Moonfall Swordsmanship you just used?"

Moonfall Swordsmanship?

Hearing this, both Zhao Xia and Zhao i turned their gazes to Wen Qingye.

The na of the Moonfall Sword God was simply too renowned. This particular Swordsmanship was rumored to be the one with which the Moonfall Sword God first made his na. Although it wasn’t one of his most powerful techniques, its significance was different. Besides, it had been lost for countless years.

"It was Moonfall Swordsmanship," Wen Qingye said casually.

The way Zhao Hao looked at Wen Qingye changed instantly. His breathing grew ragged, and his eyes filled with excitent and reverence.

’Though I don’t know how impressive this Moonfall Sword God was, my past self was definitely stronger than him by leaps and bounds.’

Zhao i stared at Wen Qingye with wide eyes and asked, "Are you a disciple of the Moonfall Sword God from a later generation?"

"No," Wen Qingye shrugged. "He’s not worthy of being my master."

Wen Qingye’s tone was nonchalant, but if he had said that anywhere else, he would have been rcilessly ridiculed.

A glint flashed in Zhao Xia’s eyes. She looked at Wen Qingye and said, "Well said. You’ve got spine."

Zhao Hao nodded emphatically. "Brother Wen’s Swordsmanship will surely be no worse than the Moonfall Sword God’s in the future."

Their tone was ant to encourage Wen Qingye. He just smiled faintly and didn’t explain further.

As Zhao Xia carefully bandaged Wen Qingye’s wounds, she instructed Zhao Hao and Zhao i, "This mountain path is difficult. I think we should rest for a bit before moving on."

Zhao i said with so worry, "The man who just died seed to be the second-in-command of Black Cloud Mountain. I’ve heard the first-in-command is a whole level stronger than him. I don’t know if this ti..."

Zhao Hao gripped his sword tightly, a resolute look on his face. "Don’t worry. If the few of us team up, can’t we handle a single leader?"

Wen Qingye sat down cross-legged and began circulating the Longevity Technique. The surrounding Primordial Qi imdiately surged crazily toward him, his body like a massive black hole.

Zhao i murmured, "Did he take a pill? How can he absorb Primordial Qi so fast?"

Zhao Xia thought for a mont and said, "I think so. Didn’t he say he has so knowledge of pills?"

The dense Primordial Qi slowly gathered, continuously tempering Wen Qingye’s body. His minor injuries instantly healed for the most part. Combined with the effects of the pill, his external wounds would soon be fully recovered.

After about the ti it takes to burn an incense stick, Wen Qingye slowly opened his eyes.

"Let’s go," Wen Qingye said with a smile.

Zhao Xia pointed to Wen Qingye’s wound. "Your injury..."

Wen Qingye shook his head and said dismissively, "It’s nothing. Just a minor wound, it’s almost healed."

...

Wen Qingye recalled the bandits from earlier and frowned. "I feel like sothing is strange. Why did the Black Cloud Mountain bandits suddenly rush up from the base of the mountain? And they seed to be in a great hurry."

Zhao Xia nodded in agreent. "That is suspicious. Perhaps it’s because you killed their n at the foot of the mountain, and they were sending people to get revenge."

Wen Qingye shook his head. "I don’t think so. How could they react so quickly? The way I see it, they looked like they were fleeing."

"Fleeing?" Zhao i asked curiously.

Wen Qingye said slowly, "Mhm, I think it might have sothing to do with the first-in-command of Black Cloud Mountain. I can’t say for sure. It’s just a hunch."

"We’re at the stronghold, but it looks like there’s soone up ahead," Zhao Hao said in a low voice from the front.

Wen Qingye peered through the sparse cover. The stronghold ahead was situated on the edge of a cliff, its main gate wide open. A faint, almost imperceptible scent of blood seed to hang in the air.

Wen Qingye’s brows furrowed. ’It seems the people who were captured have already t a tragic end.’
