Two days later, in the late afternoon, Dylan, who was holding hands with his two twin sisters, and Maya, who had just returned from working at the restaurant, went to the dentist’s office to pick Lena up to go ho. They saw Lena walking out of the clinic with a confused look, constantly staring at her smartphone.
"What is it, Lena?" Maya asked.
"Um... Doctor Irene asked for my help because I once told her about Mr. Robert, who handled my inheritance. She said her lawyer was incompetent, so I just gave her Mr. Robert’s phone number. Is that okay?" Lena replied.
"Hmm... is that so? She wants to handle her divorce?" Dylan asked.
"Yes, but also about asset division, child custody, child support, spousal support... or whatever... I don’t really understand," Lena answered.
"That’s good, it gives Mr. Robert and his firm so business," Maya replied with a smile.
"Of course it’s fine. Let her call Mr. Robert and tell him herself later. We don’t need to interfere. Let’s go ho," Dylan suggested.
"Okay," Maya and Lena replied simultaneously.
They then walked behind Dylan, who was heading to the parking lot. Lena imdiately moved closer to Maya.
"Hey Maya, what do you think he did? Doctor Irene showed a printout of her husband’s chat history when he contacted , and she apologized profusely to . How do you think she got that printout?" Lena asked.
"I don’t know, I’m sure it’s Dylan’s doing, but it was to help you and Clara, so let’s not discuss it any further," Maya answered.
"Hmm... you’re right. Alright, let’s forget about it," Lena replied.
"Hey, why are you walking so slowly? Are your stomachs hurting?" Dylan asked, turning around, concerned.
"No, my stomach is perfectly fine," Lena answered, touching her belly.
"Yeah, relax," Maya replied, also touching her belly.
Suddenly, Fiona and Iris approached Maya and Lena. They imdiately took both of their hands and started walking again.
"Co on, Big Sister Maya... I’ll help," Fiona said.
"I’ll help Big Sister Lena," Iris added.
"Haha... thanks, Fiona... Iris," Maya said cheerfully.
"Are we having nuggets tonight?" Fiona asked.
"I want nuggets," Iris added.
"Yes, Big Sister Lena will cook them later, right Big Sister Lena?" Maya said, turning to look at Lena.
"You got it. Relax, we’re good," Lena replied, giving a thumbs-up and winking.
"But we have to go pick up Amy and Ellie, who are talking with Aunt lissa at her place, with Clara and Aaron right now," Dylan said.
"Yesss... let’s go," Fiona and Iris said together.
They imdiately got into the car. Dylan then drove off to pick up Amy and Ellie, who were currently at lissa’s apartnt with Clara and Aaron. After a 10-minute drive, they arrived at a comfortable and nice apartnt complex in the middle of the city.
Maya and Lena took Fiona and Iris to play in the outdoor children’s playground in the complex. Dylan went upstairs to pick up everyone. When he reached the apartnt door, he heard voices still coming from inside. He paused before knocking and leaned against the wall.
"CATS," Dylan said.
[Go ahead and listen, sir. I have already tapped it.]
The conversation inside the apartnt imdiately appeared in Dylan’s head. He leaned casually against the wall with his arms crossed and his eyes closed.
"So, Auntie admits everything? When you were still married, you were already cheating with that man nad Trevor?" Amy asked sharply.
"At the ti, I felt lonely... bored... and abandoned... so I..."
"I don’t need excuses, Auntie. Yes or no?" Amy asked again in a tone full of authority.
The atmosphere inside suddenly went silent, but Dylan could roughly imagine the situation. Then another voice was heard.
"Why didn’t you just focus on Clara? Because you chased your own desires, you unknowingly neglected Clara. Do you know that Clara was bullied at school? Do you know whether Clara got good or bad grades?" Amy asked loudly.
The atmosphere was silent again. The only sound was sobbing, which seed to be coming from lissa, and then sothing moving was heard. Suddenly,
"I’m sorry, Clara. I should have listened to you from the start and prioritized you over that man. I’m sorry," lissa said.
"Yes... Mom," Clara said, who seed to be crying and hugging lissa, judging by the sound.
After a mont of silence with only the sound of two people crying inside and quietness, the sound of sothing shifting was heard again.
"Auntie, for now, Amy and I are asking that Clara stay with us. Amy and I want you to sort out your feelings and priorities first, or if possible, get so therapy first. It’s not that we don’t trust you, but this is all for Clara’s own good," Ellie said.
"I understand. I won’t bla Clara if she wants to leave . I really have been neglecting her all this ti... Please take care of Clara, and when I’m ready, I’ll be the one to co and visit her," lissa said.
"Thank you, Mom," Clara replied.
"Alright, in that case, please excuse us. Dylan said he was on his way earlier and should arrive any minute now," Ellie said.
"Yes, thank you for coming here... I understand now. All this ti I’ve been so shallow... I admit I’m not ready to be with Clara, and if I force myself, I’ll only end up hurting Clara... Thank you for bringing back to my senses," lissa said.
"You’re welco, Auntie," Amy replied.
"Aaron, please take care of Clara, okay? I approve of your relationship. Don’t take after , and don’t ever beco like ," lissa said.
"Of course, Auntie. I promise to take care of Clara forever," Aaron said firmly.
"Say hello to your brother for ," lissa replied.
Dylan cut the wiretap. He nodded to himself, smiling. "Ding," the elevator opened. "Tap... tap... tap," "thump," Fiona and Iris suddenly jumped and hugged Dylan, who turned to see the elevator. Maya and Lena walked toward him.
"What took you so long?" Maya asked.
"Yeah, they’re tired," Lena added, pointing at Fiona and Iris.
"No, Big Sister Lena, I’m not tired," Fiona replied.
"Yeah, I can still play," Iris added.
"But it’s getting late, and we’re ready to go ho now," Maya countered.
"Click," hearing the commotion outside the apartnt, the door opened. Ellie peeked out and saw Maya, Lena, Fiona, and Iris standing in front of her door. She also saw Dylan leaning casually against the wall.
"All set?" Dylan asked, turning to look at Ellie.
"All set. Just a mont, another goodbye," Ellie answered, smiling.
The door closed again. Not long after, Ellie, Amy, Aaron, and Clara ca out of the apartnt unit. lissa walked them out. Dylan imdiately gave lissa a slight bow, which she returned. Then they headed towards the elevator. Dylan glanced at Clara’s face as she walked beside Aaron; she looked calm and relieved, as if she had let go of a heavy burden she had been carrying all this ti.
"Okay, everything ended well," Dylan thought to himself.
[Thankfully, sir.]
"Thank you, CATS," Dylan replied.
[You are welco, sir. Happy to be of service.]
