Chapter 30: So Annoying
The last class of the morning. The Chinese teacher was passionately lecturing on history, now analysing the current international situation. So students listened eagerly, but Luo Yun yawned, tilting his head toward the window, planning to nap before lunch. A minute passed. Like prey eyed by a beast, a prickling sensation made Luo Yun uneasy. He turned back, only to et the white wall and Shinomiya Kaguya’s breezy smile. “As class president, Nangong-san, you don’t listen attentively in class?” Shinomiya Kaguya parted her lips lightly. “No need to focus on unnecessary classes. And it’s not just —Shinomiya-san, you’re not listening either, are you?” Luo Yun whispered. “I’ve already studied history at ho, so it’s fine if I don’t listen.” Shinomiya Kaguya said calmly. The heiress of the Shinomiya Conglorate glanced around, her gaze drifting, not fixed on Luo Yun. “It’s quite ordinary, this school.” She sat there. Her innate aura instinctively made her seem lofty. In class, the boys constantly stealing glances at Shinomiya Kaguya didn’t dare et her eyes, hurriedly pretending to focus on the lesson. Then, a soft chuckle. Ding dong~~~ The bell for the end of class rang. The teacher, mid-lecture, stopped abruptly at the sound of dismissal. Still unsatisfied, he gathered his notes and left the classroom. With the teacher gone, the classroom erupted into chaos. The sound of packing bags and books rustled loudly. But today was different from usual. Even yesterday, the last class before noon left everyone drowsy, yet when dismissal ca, sleepy students woke faster than anyone, bolting out of the classroom to the cafeteria the mont the teacher left. Today, everyone was oddly “quiet.” Almost no one left. Or rather, no one planned to leave. So even rearranged their books and bags multiple tis, their eyes occasionally darting to the corner where Luo Yun sat, dozens of gazes brimming with anticipation, as if waiting for sothing. Of course, it wasn’t about Luo Yun. Their target was Shinomiya Kaguya. As a transfer student on her first day, by convention, she’d need soone to show her around the school. It was an unwritten rule, usually left to the teacher’s arrangent or a student’s volunteering. If it was the horoom teacher, the class president would likely take the lead. But today, Nayue hadn’t said anything. After class, she left. Amid the hallway’s noise, Shinomiya Kaguya leisurely packed her bag, still speaking. “I’m not very familiar with this school…” That was the line they were waiting for! The students had one goal: to beco Shinomiya Kaguya’s campus guide and get closer to the Shinomiya heiress. After all, she was the heiress of a ga conglorate. Even being regular friends would be bragging rights for a year. And if sothing more happened—like a sweet campus romance with Shinomiya Kaguya—it’d be worth a lifeti. Besides the boys, the girls also admired such an heiress. “Shinomiya-san! I know this school well, so let be your guide!” “I grew up on Genkami Island—I know every corner of this school!” “Shinomiya-san, pick ! I know a secret base not many people know about. I’ll take you there.” Volunteers crowded the small corner, making it impassable. Lan Yu Asagi looked at the boys with disdain. When her life hit rock bottom, she never got this kind of attention. Afraid of being ostracized and dressed plainly in junior high, many boys avoided talking to her. She was alone. Even at ho, she faced a cold, empty room. Her family didn’t even notice her. Only Luo Yun reached out warmly, talked to her, counselled her, and beca her friend. So, seeing Luo Yun unmoved by the frenzy, Lan Yu Asagi smiled, pulling out her lunchbox from her desk, ready to spend a pleasant noon with him. “Luo Yun-kun, let’s go.” Asagi said. “Yeah.” Luo Yun replied. As class president, he’d planned to sacrifice his lunch break to show Shinomiya Kaguya around the school. But with so many eager volunteers, he didn’t want to compete for the spot. Just as he was about to leave with Asagi. “Nangong-san, could you show around the school?” Shinomiya Kaguya ignored the others’ self-recomndations, smiling brightly at him. Instantly, the class’s gazes turned to Luo Yun—disbelief at being rejected, mixed with gnashing envy and resentnt. He’d done nothing, yet Shinomiya Kaguya invited him herself. Damn it, so annoying! But there was nothing they could do. …
