The next day, April 14th, Saturday morning at 11 o’clock.
"The test begins!"
With the prompt from the computer test equipnt, the grey Citroën marked "Test Car" started moving steadily.
"The reverse parking task begins."
"The parallel parking task begins."
"The right-angle turn task begins."
"..."
The speed was 30 mph, and the mood was jittery.
Finally, the car completed the last S-shaped bend as steadily as an old dog, passing through the curve with extre precision down the middle line, and the long-awaited prompt finally rang out.
"Beep! Test tasks completed, examination result is pass."
After parking the test vehicle, pulling the handbrake, unbuckling the seatbelt, and stepping out, ng Lang finally heaved a sigh of relief.
Even an experienced driver feels a bit sheepish facing the fancy fail points of the second subject...
What? You say drifting around the corner?
Are you worried you’re not failing fast enough?
Whistling his way to the outside of the test center, he saw Coach Tian, who had brought a group to the test, berating a student.
"You still have the nerve to say you passed? You almost crossed the line, you know, if you passed, that was purely luck!
And, did you see how much the car was shaking during that slope just now? You nearly stalled, did you know that?
You don’t even know how to press the clutch, are you on the national football team, with such stinky feet?"
"I’m sorry, Coach, I was too nervous."
Even after passing, still getting scolded, Coach Tian deserves his reputation as the "strictest gold dal coach." The student could only accept his bad luck and lower his head silently to take the criticism.
Coach Tian wanted to say a few more words, but then he saw ng Lang approaching and imdiately switched to a smiling face.
"Mr. ng is back, huh? The test went smoothly, I think it could be included in the standard textbooks!"
"Hehe! Coach Tian flatters too much. So when can I take the third subject?"
"In 10 days! That’s the fastest according to the regulations. But you can take the third and fourth subjects together, and get your license the sa day."
"Okay, appreciate your efforts, Coach Tian."
Efforts? You’re the least troubleso student I’ve ever had!
"Where does that co from, want a smoke?"
"No thanks, I don’t smoke. Coach, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving first."
"Alright, go get so rest, just rember to co back for the test in 10 days, take care~"
Student: "..."
...
After leaving the test venue, ng Lang did not head back ho but instead hailed a taxi to the nearest sports gym...
"Ping! Pong! Ping! Pong!"
Inside the table tennis hall, the crisp sound of ping pong balls hitting the tables echoed continuously from the dozen or so tables lined up.
Many n and won, both young and old, were already sweating it out early in the day.
Those who co here at this ti are basically not beginners, at least most of them look quite professional.
ng Lang wandered around the tables, observing for a while before finally setting his sights on Table 3.
Both n at this table were in their forties, and both maintained good physiques.
One of them, wearing a red sportshirt, seed particularly skillful, a man of slightly more advanced age.
Chop, loop, smash... His moves were crisp and decisive, easily dominating the younger man in the black shirt across the table.
Even ng Lang, who had barely played table tennis, could tell that this man was only a step behind the professional athletes on TV in terms of physical fitness.
"Aiyo~"
At that mont, the man in red played a tricky wide-angle diagonal shot, and the man in black dove to save it but ultimately missed by a step as the ping pong ball bounced away.
"Huff~ Huff~" The man in black held his waist, panting, and chuckled as he waved his paddle.
"I can’t do this anymore; I’m completely outclassed here."
"Hehe! Elder Li, we haven’t been playing long and you’re already tired? You really need to work out more!" the man in red said with a smile as he wiped sweat with his towel.
"How can I compare to you, coach, you co from a professional athlete background.
But I’ll take your advice and often co here to play with you, otherwise, my ’three highs’ are going to be off the charts, hehe..."
The man called Elder Li said cheerfully.
Just as he was about to retrieve the ball, he noticed a young man had already bent over to pick up their ball and was approaching them.
"Excuse , mister, I saw you playing really well. How about we have a match?" ng Lang said to the man in red with a smile.
Ah-ha! Soone’s looking for a challenge?
The man in red raised an eyebrow.
ng Lang had been standing aside watching for a long ti, and of course, he had been noticed as well.
After witnessing his table tennis skills, and yet daring to co up for a "friendly match"?
Seems like he has a lot of confidence in himself!
The man in black looked at ng Lang and frowned; he glanced at his partner, seemingly asking for his opinion.
"Young man, are you quite skilled?" the man in red asked with a smile.
"Well... I guess I’m the type with a high ceiling and a low floor," ng Lang pondered and replied.
A high ceiling and a low floor? So you an you rise to the occasion? That’s quite the bold claim!
The man in the red shirt suddenly beca more interested.
"No problem! Then I’ll have a round with you, young man, Elder Li, you could use this ti to take a break."
"Sure thing!"
Elder Li handed over his paddle, standing to the side with a beaming smile, though his eyes were sizing up ng Lang, as if trying to gauge sothing from him.
"Respect the elderly and love the young, please, after you," ng Lang said, tossing the ball to the other man, then a bit ineptly gripped the paddle in his right hand.
The man in red caught the ball and was briefly startled by ng Lang’s grip.
"Penhold? A fast attacker?"
He didn’t underestimate his opponent and slightly adjusted his breathing before tossing the ball up high with a professional shakehand grip.
And then, as the ball was about to drop, he chopped down on it.
