“Professor Lu called ...” Then, Qiao Fei told Qin Chu what happened. Only then did Qin Chu realize the severity of the situation.
“If that’s the case, then we’re in trouble.”
“Chu, where’s Yan?”
Qin Chu didn’t respond.
“Chu?” Qiao Fei felt a bad feeling creeping up his spine.
“Truth be told, I don’t know where Yan is.”
“How is that possible? Professor Lu said you went looking for Mian together. I traced the coordinates all the way to the explosion site but couldn’t find her. I have a feeling that you guys had sothing to do with the explosion, so I ca looking for you guys here.”
Qin Chu looked up, his expression filled with anxiety. “Yes, Yan and I ca together, but we took separate routes. She gave so of her n, and she left with the rest of them... so, I think she’s still in the forest. I have people looking for her, but no one’s found her yet, and no one can reach her. According to Su Yu, Su Yu and Mian saw that masked woman, so she’s probably the culprit. The fact that she saw Su Yu ans that Lu Yan lost, no?”
“That’s impossible, Lu Yan’s never lost to anyone.” Qiao Fei negated Qin Chu’s speculations without thinking.
“Do you know how to reach her?” Qin Chu asked.
“I called Professor Lu. He said he should be able to locate Yan with her implanted GPS, but the signal seed to have cut off. That’s why he asked to co look for you guys. Do you rember where you last saw her? I’ll go look for her; maybe she injured herself or lost her way.”
“Okay, wait, I’ll draw you a map.” Qin Chu knew Qiao Fei had a point, so he quickly took out a piece of paper and drew Qiao Fei a map, pinpointing the place he and Lu Yan parted ways, and the possible routes she would’ve taken.
Then, Qiao Fei left the military hospital. “Chu, I’ll be back.”
“Mhm, take care of yourself and call if anything happens.”
“I will.”
After Qiao Fei left, Qin Chu paced inside Huo Mian’s room. He had a feeling that Lu Yan was more than lost or injured. After all, if Lu Yan heard that Huo Mian was unconscious at the hospital, she would co here at all costs. So, why wasn’t she here yet?
Another thought left Qin Chu feeling very uneasy. Did Huo Siqian really kill the ‘big boss’, a person even Professor Lu was scared of?
Qin Chu looked at Huo Mian, still unconscious in her bed, with worry written all over his face.
At the sa ti, on the other side of the world, Huo Mian woke up feeling sore everywhere.
Her vision seems blurry, and after blinking furiously, she finally realized that she was inside a room that was decorated with nothing but white.
“Ms. Huo Mian, you’re finally up.”
Huo Mian tilted her head towards the voice who called out her na. It was a middle-aged woman who was dressed in gypsy clothing. She looked to be Indian, but was speaking perfect Chinese.
“Who are you, and where... am I?” Huo Mian’s head stirred. She felt like she was still dreaming.
