“Mom, stop it. I haven’t thought about the future yet, but I know that right now, in a situation like this, I can’t just leave the kid,” Shen Mingxi argued back.
Tiantian seed to have noticed the bickering. She hid behind Shen Mingxi and grabbed tightly on the corner of his shirt.
“Uncle Shen, please don’t abandon ,” she whispered in fear. She had always been afraid to be left behind. Growing up, she never felt she was loved unconditionally or completely. There was always a tiny voice nagging at her that maybe she shouldn’t have been born.
She also didn’t understand why Pudding and Little Bean had everything. The twins were similar in age with her, but not only did their parents and grandparents love them, their uncles and aunts also spoiled them.
She couldn’t help but feel confused as Huo Yanyan, her mother, would sotis scream and yell at her when she was in a bad mood.
The only person that had given her warmth was Uncle Shen. But why did people have to insist on ntioning that Uncle Shen was not her father and that they are not biologically related?
“No, Uncle Shen won’t abandon you.” Shen Mingxi lifted the kid and walked towards the eting room. He was afraid that his mother would send the kid away when he was in a eting.
“You…” Mrs. Shen felt a wave of anger rush over her.
“Ma’am, don’t be angry. Master is just feeling sympathetic right now. After things settle down a little bit, the kid will find a good ho,” the people that were around to witness the quarrel comforted Mrs. Shen.
– On the other side, on the road back to the city –
Ah-Cheng and several other subordinates was carefully transporting Huo Siqian’s “stuff” back to the city.
Due to the number of people around him, he didn’t have the chance to be in contact with Qin Chu, so he had no idea what was happening in C city. Well, at least until he was fifty miles away from the city, near a plot of undeveloped land.
Three Jeeps showed up across from Ah-Cheng and around twenty strong n ca hopping down.
“Big Brother Cheng.” A man acknowledged him actively.
“Wei-Zi? Why are you here?” Ah-Cheng was surprised.
Wei-Zi was also one of Huo Siqian’s subordinates, except, he very rarely showed himself as he was always conducting missions that were more secretive. He was rarely in the city, so it gave Ah-Cheng a very bad feeling.
“Oh, Boss wanted to co to get you.”
“No worries, it’s only an hour more of driving.” Ah-Cheng smiled.
“Big Brother Cheng… Boss said…” Wei-Zi paused.
“What did Boss say?” Ah-Cheng looked at Wei-Zi, confused.
“Boss said to have give you a ride.” Wei-Zi and his group all took out their guns.
“What are you guys doing?” Ah-Cheng asked, dumbstruck.
“Big Brother Cheng, you shouldn’t have betrayed Boss… You know how he is.” Wei-Zi looked at Ah-Cheng with pity and imdiately, Ah-Cheng understood Huo Siqian already knew he was a traitor.
“Brothers, don’t be afraid. I’m only here for Ah-Cheng’s life. This has nothing to do with you guys,” Wei-Zi said to Ah-Cheng’s subordinates.
“Big Brother Cheng, what’s going on?” Ah-Cheng’s subordinates were also confused.
“I’m sorry… Brothers. Forget about , I’m just reaping what I sowed.” Ah-Cheng clenched his jaw and turned swiftly towards the boxes that they had been transporting. In his mind, he thought that the “stuff” he was transporting could potentially be used for one last fight. But, when he opened up the box, he was greeted with nothing but rocks.
“You think Boss would still let you transport the stuff when he knows you are a traitor?” Wei-Zi smirked.
Ah-Cheng felt his heart sink.
