“Yes, Uncle Qin.” Huo Mian nodded.

“But, where did you possibly borrow this much money from?”

Uncle Qin was still in shock. He stared at the young lady in front of him and contemplated – Even he and his brother wouldn’t be able to borrow this much money in such a short amount of ti to avert the crisis.

“I had a couple of friends that helped .”

“Well, very nice friends, indeed.” Uncle Qin was still recovering from the shock.

“Yes, I’m very grateful for them.”

“I ca with 8 billion yuan in liquid capital. You can use this first. If it’s still not enough, I will figure sothing out when I get back to the U.S. Headquarters,” Uncle Qin said as he pulled out an internationally-accepted cheque and passed it to Huo Mian.

“Uncle Qin, I already have enough.”

“Take it. We’re family, you don’t need to be polite. My brother called a while ago, I would’ve co much earlier if I wasn’t stuck in South Africa. I feel terrible about that.”

“Forget that, Uncle Qin. Dad’s surgery is about to start soon, I will go and get ready.”

“I heard what happened from Mr. Wu. To be honest, I’m really shocked. But please, don’t feel any pressure and try to be calm. Take care of my brother.”

“Of course, Uncle Qin. I will give it my all.”

“Sis-in-law! You can do it!” Qin Ning gave Huo Mian’s hand a squeeze.

Mrs. Qin walked over warily. After much contemplation, she finally asked, “Mian, what are the chances?”

“Mom, to be honest, I don’t know. I will do my best.”

“Okay. I believe in you. We’ll wait for you right here, right outside of the OR.”

Huo Mian nodded. She changed into scrubs and walked into the OR with her team. The three mbers of the Qin Family huddled closely together and watched until her shadow disappeared into the OR.

To be honest, Huo Mian was a little nervous, because this surgery didn’t allow for any mistakes.

The surgery lasted for seven full hours. By the ti Huo Mian walked out, she was so tired that she almost passed out. A nurse grabbed her by the waist quickly and was able to prop her up. “Dr. Huo, are you okay?”

Huo Mian shook her head. “I’m probably just too tired because I haven’t been resting well. I’ll be fine.”

“Dr. Huo, you look pale. You should go ho and rest now. We’ve done all we can, the rest is up to the patient.”

“Dr. Liu, what’s the likelihood of my father-in-law waking up?” Huo Mian asked wearily.

“To be honest, I’m not sure either. If you really want a number, it’s probably about 35%.”

“It’s that low?” Her tired face showed a sense of deep sadness.

“It’s not low at all. We knew from the start he had a tumor. It’s difficult to predict how well he will recover, and it’s difficult to predict how fast the cancer cells are spreading. It’s all up to him now.”

Huo Mian walked out of the OR with much on her mind.

“Mian, how is he?” Mrs. Qin was the first that ran up and asked.

“The surgery, the surgery was a success.”

“Thank goodness!” Mrs. Qin’s hand shook with excitent as she grabbed Huo Mian’s hand.

“Dad will be under observation in the ICU for the next 24 hours, the critical period has not passed yet.”

Mrs. Qin’s smile faded when she heard what Huo Mian said.

“I believe Dad will be alright. Mom, you should go and get so rest, you don’t look so well,” Huo Mian comforted her.

“You look very pale too, you should go and get so rest as well.”

Huo Mian simply shook her head. “I still have a lot to do at the company, Dad will be in his room.”

After leaving the hospital, Huo Mian headed to GK. However, after driving off the freeway, she was stopped by Huo Siqian’s car.

He walked out of his car and knocked on Huo Mian’s window, who lowered it.

“Mian, Qin Chu’s going to be sentenced during his second trial, and you won’t be able to do anything about it then. Are you sure you don’t want to beg to let him off the hook?”

“It doesn’t matter what I say, it’s not like you’re going to let him go, are you?” Huo Mian stared at Huo Siqian extrely icily but with a calm expression on her face.

“Why don’t you make happy first, maybe that’ll help.” Huo Siqian looked at Huo Mian, deeply srized by the young woman in front of him.
