Chapter 76: Chapter 76: Breaking the Cauldrons and Sinking the Boats (4)_1
Tears were on the verge of bursting from Jing Haohao’s eyes as she softly asked, “Liangnian, are you busy right now?”
“Not busy…”
He was lying. He was clearly in a eting, yet he told her he was not busy.
Jing Haohao’s tears fell, impossible to control.
She rembered that in all the ti she had been with Shen Liangnian, she had always been bookish and courteous, never wayward. This ti, just like other girlfriends, she was going to be willful to him.
Jing Haohao sniffled, saying, “Liangnian, I’m right at your company downstairs. Can you co down for a bit?”
Shen Liangnian was montarily stunned, but soon told the people in the room, “I have sothing to deal with. The eting is adjourned early.”
Then he turned his head to Jing Haohao and said, “Haohao, I’m coming down right now. Wait for
a little.”
…
Less than a minute after hanging up Shen Liangnian’s call, Jing Haohao saw Shen Liangnian hurry out of the office building.
He was wearing a white shirt and perhaps because of a hangover, his complexion did not look good.
Jing Haohao got out of the car and didn’t wait for Shen Liangnian to approach. She threw herself into his arms, hugging his waist.
Shen Liangnian was taken aback by Jing Haohao’s sudden move, stumbling a step backward before steadying himself. He lifted a hand to stroke her hair, chuckling, “Haohao, what’s wrong?”
Jing Haohao didn’t reply, only wrapped herself tighter around Shen Liangnian’s waist and nuzzled her head into his chest.
Her antics were unsettling to Shen Liangnian, his voice growing rough, “Haohao, stop ssing around. If you keep doing this, I won’t be able to hold back.”
Jing Haohao closed her eyes, resting against his chest without any intention of moving away.
“Haohao, what’s happened to you? You’re acting odd today.”
Slowly lifting her head, Jing Haohao summoned the courage to look at Shen Liangnian. But when she saw his face, she couldn’t bring herself to utter the words of breakup she had on her lips. Instead, she switched her words, “Nothing much. I was just missing you suddenly.”
Shen Liangnian, elated, stroked her hair, then embraced her into his arms. He whispered into her ear, “Haohao, will you co to my house tonight?”
Leaning on Shen Liangnian’s shoulder, Jing Haohao thought mournfully how they were on the verge of parting, yet he had no idea. The thought brought her an unbearable sadness. She swallowed back the tears welling in her eyes, gently lifted her head, and nodded at him.
A layer of surprise flashed in Shen Liangnian’s eyes, “Haohao, is that a yes?”
Jing Haohao nodded again. Fearing she would burst into tears any mont, she strove to maintain her calm and told him, “I won’t hold you up, you were in a eting, right? Hurry back.”
“Alright, I’ll contact you once I get off work.”
Jing Haohao nodded, watching Shen Liangnian leave.
Shen Liangnian had said, inviting her to his place tonight, and she knew what that ant. But now in her current tainted state, could she still be his match?
As she drove, Jing Haohao thought, Liang Chen made her co to break up, but the mont she saw Shen Liangnian’s face, she found herself unable to say the words.
If she didn’t tell him, the video in his hand would spell her end…
Did she really have no other options?
Did she just have to helplessly watch her own ruin at his hands?
No… she couldn’t just accept this fate!
Looking at a large pillar of a bridge in the distance, Jing Haohao’s eyes darkened. The next second, she stomped onto the gas pedal with a touch of desperate resolve, driving towards the pillar head-on…
