Chapter 508: Chapter 509: Marriage (1)_1
Many people expressed their sighs of regret, Jing Haohao really was a lucky woman, she left a life of shared hardships with Shen Liangnian only to be with soone even better, Liang Chen.
Of course, these sighs of regret also reached Qiao Wennuan’s ears.
Qiao Wennuan heard this news in the restroom of a café located at the foot of the TS Entertainnt Company building. The restroom’s partitions were wooden, with terrible sound insulation, and several inconspicuous actresses from TS Entertainnt Company were there, discussing Jing Haohao’s and Liang Chen’s marriage in tones full of envy, jealousy, and resentnt.
“Unexpectedly, soone like Jing Haohao, who isn’t much different from a third-rate actress like us, could one day marry into wealth and beco a lady of leisure.”
“Which just goes to show, won must strive for a good fate through their wombs. I heard she got pregnant, it’s a shotgun wedding.”
“That’s only possible with Liang Chen wanting to marry. There are scores of pregnant actresses hoping to climb the social ladder, yet, after carrying children to full term, how many actually gain any benefits? There is an actress in Hong Kong who bore three sons to a wealthy businessman not long ago, and wasn’t the end result still a tumultuous breakup?”
“Regardless, it certainly is an example of Jing Haohao’s good fortune…”
…
The sound of these voices gradually subsided. Qiao Wennuan, sitting on the toilet, remained stunned for a long ti before finally standing up slowly.
Jing Haohao really was lucky… after getting pregnant, she even managed to arrange a shotgun wedding, and what about her?
The man she loved was thinking of every possible way to avoid her at every turn.
Well… from this mont on, if Shen Liangnian were to ever see her again, he would be sure to rcilessly push her away, wouldn’t he?
Qiao Wennuan regained her composure, pushed open the restroom door, stood in front of the sink and slowly washed her hands until they were clean. Then, she looked at herself in the mirror, observing the pale-faced woman reflected there. After a mont, she opened the bag she always carried with her and started to put on her make-up carefully.
Qiao Wennuan’s ticulous application soon resulted in a finely crafted face taking shape underneath her hands.
Turning her face left and right in front of the mirror and seeing nothing amiss, she picked up her bag and gracefully walked out of the café to her car.
Qiao Wennuan started up the car, and drove around all the places she rembered Shen Liangnian being likely to go. After searching each one, it was only at the entrance to “Flowing Ti” that she finally ran into Shen Liangnian.
After transferring his company, Shen Liangnian was left in charge of only a small portion of the operation. He happened to be dining with a long-ti client that evening and they were drinking sake.
The man he was before, could drink a thousand cups of sake and remain as sober as if he was drinking water. Now, after only a couple of sips, he could feel a burning sensation emanating from within his stomach.
He managed to suppress the pain, and kept the client entertained with random small talk. After they finally ended the gathering, he stood under the neon lights of “Golden Years”, politely saying his goodbyes and shaking hands with the client. As he watched the client’s car slowly driving away, he clutched his belly, and with a pale face turned and walked into “Golden Years”.
Inside the narrow restroom stall, he doubled over, vomiting for what felt like an eternity. Only when he finally steadied himself, did he open the door and walked out as if nothing had happened. He rinsed his mouth, washed his hands, and then exited.
He appeared to be in a good condition, not at all like soone diagnosed with cancer and living on borrowed ti.
However, when he walked out of the front door of “Flowing Ti” again, a person was obstructing his path.
Qiao Wennuan, her make-up delicately drawn, looked every bit as dazzling as the woman that had once lit up the screens.
