As the boats got further from the shore into the open sea, they maintained their triangle formation. Commander Garret took the lead and gave the order to stop after a few monts.

Minutes passed, and the people were looking from the side of the boats with expectant faces, searching for anything that looked strange in the water.

The day was quite sunny, with only a few clouds in the sky, making the water clear and easy to see. However, there was no sight of anything strange, as all we saw were common fish.

"It won’t co out..." said Vespera, making the group on my boat turn to her in confusion.

"Why? Isn’t this a big enough prey?" I asked while crossing my arms.

"It’s focusing on assimilating the demonic energy. Basically, it wants to evolve first..." she answered.

Commander Valentina spoke up. "Could we stop it from evolving?" she asked my companion.

Vespera looked at . "When we were scouting, it attacked us. At that mont, it stopped the evolution..."

Her explanation made sense. If we managed to lure it out by doing sothing similar to what we did before, it wouldn’t just ignore us once it was on the surface.

The problem was luring it all the way there without getting caught in its tendrils. The first ti I couldn’t sense or see its attack, I had to co up with sothing a little different.

"I’ll try to lure it out, but I’m not diving too deep..." I said as the gravity enchantnt from my poncho activated and boosted myself with air magic toward the area we had seen the previous day.

I could hear Commander Garret from his boat questioning what I was doing, but I just ignored him and kept flying toward the area.

I saw the princess flying to Garret’s boat and explaining our plan to them while Vespera went to the other boat where the knights of the 7th were waiting for orders.

I slowly breathed in and out, looked at my surroundings, checking that everyone on the boats was ready, and opened my void pocket to pull out an MP potion that I knew I would need after.

I cast the bubble around my nose and mouth before descending into the water. Once I dived a few ters down, I pointed my finger toward the darkness like a pistol and focused on gathering tons of water around my finger.

A vortex ford at the tip of my finger pistol with a small compact water sphere in the center that I coated with light magic.

I sighed. ("This truly is a ’shot in the dark’...") I thought as I released the spell, shooting a water stream down with the speed and force of a missile.

Thanks to the light magic that coated the spell, I could see its trajectory until it seed to hit sothing deep in the bottom.

("No reaction...") I thought, pointing my finger pistol downwards again and shooting three projectiles of the sa magnitude.

A few seconds passed, and I still got no reaction. However, just as I pointed my finger down one more ti, the eerie feeling returned, and the dark aura at the bottom was slowly becoming visible.

I quickly used air magic to propel myself upward and saw two giant tentacles that were traveling toward at an incredible speed. Before I could leave the water, I had to zig-zag to the sides a few tis to avoid getting snatched.

I resurfaced and quickly flew a few ters above the water as the two giant tentacles ca for .

At that mont, Vespera and lina shot a wave of air slices attack, not wholly severing the tendril but slicing it enough that it stopped its advances towards .

Hovering in the air, I shot another water bullet, although with less intensity. Now that an endless supply of water didn’t surround , I had to pour more magic into the spell to produce it.

With that last spell, the Kraken showed itself all the way to the surface.

Its body was an amalgamation that I couldn’t really detail. Did the monster have eyes? A mouth? I couldn’t tell you, honestly.

It seed like a giant dark purple blob with dozens of tentacles that moved independently as if each of them had its own brain.

As the Kraken’s tendrils crashed into the water, so landed on the armored boats and stuck to the iron spikes surrounding their fra.

"Now, attack!" yelled Commander Garret as the knights of the 2nd approached the impaled tendril. However, their attacks proved futile as their weapons couldn’t fully pierce the monster’s skin.

The tentacle managed to rise from the iron spike, ready to crash down on the knights of the 2nd when Harvey arrived.

Flying with his armor, he sliced the air, and a wave of fire appeared, severing half of the tendril while his two other knights passed from the sides and finished cutting it off with powerful slices mixed with air magic.

The severed tentacle fell on the water, splashing all of the knights of the 2nd that were in the boat with perplexed expressions after seeing sub-commandeer Harvey and his two knights destroy a part of the monster.

Another tentacle was attacking the boat where the knights of the 7th tried their best to fight back.

The tendril had attached itself to the tip of the boat and was wrapped around, rocking the vessel and making the knights lose their footing as they tried reaching for an attack on the monster.

At that mont, Vespera arrived with Yoru, and in a quick demonstration of power, Yoru sliced the tentacle completely with his claws while Vespera used a strong wind current to blow the tentacle away from crashing down in the boat.

Two giant tentacles went for our boat. However, lina was there with Commander Valentina, and while the commander couldn’t do much against the monster, I trusted lina would take care of it.

Still, I couldn’t just ignore her and tried to fly toward them quickly. At that sa ti, the princess flew upwards and shot dozens of airwaves that sliced the monster’s tendrils and prevented it from crashing onto the boat.

The people who were still on the vessels looked up at the princess, hovering in the air as she shot powerful magic around her.

"C-could she be a saint!?" yelled one of the knights.

I wanted to make my way closer to the boats to help them. However, I had my plate full of the dozen tentacles that were trying to catch in the air.

I was behind the Kraken, taking the attention of half of its tendrils while the other half attacked the boats on the front.

I shot a few fire and airwaves at the tentacles, managing to sever one of them entirely and hurt a few others, making it even angrier at as it flailed its tendrils while the dark aura around its body intensified.

Quickly, the Kraken spun on the water forcefully, raising a giant wave that crashed onto the boats, shaking everyone on board.

The tendrils’ movents beca quicker and more vicious, hitting the boat’s iron spikes with force, destroying both its own tentacles and their iron fra simultaneously.

The rest of its attention was focused on as I flew in the air, maneuvering to avoid all of the different tendrils that ca my way at a crazy speed.

Its relentless attack on the boats worried , but my companions, the princess and the knights of the 4th, proved their powers once again as they protected the vessels with their magic.

When it seed we had taken care of half of its tentacles, the dark aura that emanated from it began to palpate, giving everyone an eerie sensation of uneasiness.

Suddenly, its severed tentacles grew back and crashed down on the water and boats, destroying parts of it and making a few knights of the 7th fall on the water.

Thankfully, they weren’t wearing their full armor, or they would have drowned quickly, but one of the knights of the 4th managed to fly by and rescue them before placing them on our boat that the princess was protecting.

lina deflected the tendrils that flew toward her boat by using gravity magic to subdue them down into the water before they could hit them.

She also used a mixture of fire and air magic to create a powerful blue fla, just like I taught her, and severed clean so of the other tentacles.

("This is getting bad... There isn’t much of a point in severing the tentacles if they just reappear...") I thought as I tried to co up with a different strategy.

("Hey, that last part...") I thought as I quickly inspected the monster, noticing sothing familiar.

The blood orb that gave it power was the sa type of orb that the Goblin King had when I fought him a few years ago.

Back then, the problem was finding out where in his body the orb was located, but with the Kraken, the spot for its weakness seed a little more obvious.
