The mont my group and I stepped onto the 70th floor, we were blinded by pure darkness for a brief mont, and as we slowly regained our vision, all we could really see was the throne in the back of the room.

The long glass panel behind the throne was the only illumination we had, allowing to detail the figure sitting on it a bit more.

Similar to the ancient fiends and harpies we had seen, the demon in front of us had ashen-white skin. However, all of his other features were completely different.

He had four arms, four horns, and four red eyes—two on each side of his face. As my eyes trailed down, I noticed that his torso seed to be split in two by a wide mouth with large, pointy teeth, which was a bit unsettling to look at, to be honest.

When the demon spoke up with his deep voice to welco us, I felt an overwhelming pressure on my shoulders, making turn my head towards my companions to see how they were faring.

Nonetheless, every single one of them was frozen in place, taking one knee on the ground as their bodies struggled to face the devil.

Yoru was inside my shadow, but since I could feel my companions’ emotions, I could sense his distress.

Still, for so reason, lina and I were able to resist the pressure, facing the Primordial with our chin up as he slowly stood up from the throne.

"I was curious, so I ca down to this level..." The devil muttered.

"Curious about what? Who are you?" lina asked with a determined tone.

"Hmm, in your tongue, they call ’Agares,’" he replied, taking one step forward and making the pressure around us even heavier.

"And? Why are you here?" I asked, grabbing my bo and preparing myself.

"I just said I was curious. I wanted to see the sage duo with my own eyes... Drakzen seems to have taken a liking to you, in particular," Agares said, pointing at with two of his arms.

"Hah, is that how he calls it? You can tell that bastard that I don’t like anything about him," I comnted, spinning my bo in my hand.

Agares grinned, and both mouths on his face and stomach arched with a sinister smile. Still, the demon didn’t seem like he wanted to fight us, at least not at that mont.

"So, what now?" lina asked, her eyes fixed on our enemy.

It seed that Agares could sense our bloodlust, so he clarified that he wasn’t planning on fighting us on that floor, explaining that it would make him "miss a lot of things."

"That Drakzen has an interesting plan. I want to see where it leads him," Agares continued.

"Are we supposed to let you go, then?" I pondered, and right as Agares turned his gaze at , I shot a thin light beam from my finger toward him.

The beam seed to phase through the devil’s body, hitting the throne in the back and breaking a piece of it.

"As I suspected... You are like so sort of illusion," I comnted, prompting Agares to laugh out loud.

"Of course! If I ended it this quickly, then it wouldn’t be fun," the devil replied, still smirking with both of his mouths.

"If you manage to beat my gauntlet, then I will honor you with a real fight," he continued.

"Your gauntlet?" I pondered aloud, ignoring the fact that he thought it was an honor to fight him.

"Mhmm," Agares nodded. "If that last sage could beat it, then you must at least get to that level to fight ," he said.

"I see... So, you t Alejandro," I muttered, keeping my guard up since I didn’t trust the devil a single bit.

Before lina and I, there had been other sages that were brought to this world. However, out of all of them, only Alejandro faced the devils in the Lost Continent like we were currently doing.

Thanks to Alejandro flooding the entire Lost Continent, sages like Kyoko and Giuseppe didn’t have to face beings such as Xalathas and Agares. However, his solution was only temporary, as he never had the chance to put a full end to the cycle of demon invasions.

"Ah, yes. That was his na... Such a heroic tale, don’t you think?" Agares asked with a slightly sarcastic tone.

To , his words sounded like he was making fun of Alejandro’s struggles, and after I had seen his mories at the Moon Spire, where he had to sacrifice everything to put an end to their invasion, I got quite upset at his comnt.

"You said your na was Agares, right?" I asked, almost whispering as I felt a deep anger swelling within .

"I don’t like you... You remind of Drakzen. Stupid, short-sighted demon," I continued, my voice getting raspy from rage.

"Ahahaha! Yes, yes! He used to get angry just like that!" Agares replied, chuckling to himself with both of his mouths.

"This will definitely be a good one... I’ll be waiting," he followed up, snapping his fingers with one of his hands and making his illusion dissipate into thin air.

Still, I was annoyed at the exchange, and having nothing else to vent my anger on, I waved my bo forward and released an arc mixed with wind and fire magic, utterly destroying the throne on the other side of the room.

When Agares’ presence disappeared, our companions were once again able to move and talk freely, making notice Jackson and Nessa’s evident distress about the encounter.

"Are you guys okay?" I asked.

"Ichiro... This is getting a little out of hand," Jackson replied, still kneeling on the ground with his eyes widened in fear.

I knew that Agares was powerful since a re illusion of him was enough to halt all of our companions’ movents, but I was feeling so determined that the encounter didn’t phase any of my confidence.

"Y-You don’t understand... The Primordial Demon, Agares—He is as strong as Demon King Xalathas, maybe even stronger..." Jackson nervously explained.

"So?" lina interjected.

"There are two demon kings and two sages. Don’t count us out just yet!" She continued, and her positivity seed to slightly calm down Nessa and Jackson.
