The mont that Nessa interrupted my fight in the arena, all of the demons spectating fell utterly silent, including Trachios, the cyclops.
"Ge-General Nexa?" Trachios stamred with his one eye widened in shock.
Nessa shot a glance at the cyclops and didn’t say anything before focusing back on Anaris, the archdemon governing over the fifth floor.
My plan at first was to take care of the archdemon by myself, but seeing that Nessa was genuinely furious at him made feel like I was getting in the middle of an old dispute, so I decided to leave it to her and only intervene if it was necessary.
I could sense Nessa extruding an eerily vast amount of demonic energy, but I could also sense how she tried her best not to fully transform into a demon, maintaining her hybrid form.
Suddenly, Anaris started laughing and said that he had heard the rumors about Nessa betraying their king, and the fact that she was accompanying was proof of that.
"Fate must’ve brought you to . If I kill you now, King Xalathas shall appoint as the next General!" Anaris continued.
Honestly, it was almost awkward for to listen to the archdemon boasting about wanting to kill Nessa, but the reason for it was that I could sense Nessa’s power to be at least three tis stronger than Anaris.
"You can’t kill , Anaris..." Nessa muttered, planting her feet firmly on the ground and raising her guard into a traditional martial arts stance.
During the ti that Nessa spent with us, I taught her as many martial arts techniques as I could. She had always been an enthusiast when it ca to fighting—I an, I t her at the combat World Tournant, so it was pretty clear that she enjoyed combat to so extent.
In the blink of an eye, Nessa lunged forward from her position and struck Anaris in the face with a punch that echoed in the arena, sending the archdemon rolling on the ground over ten ters away.
As Anaris quickly got back up in utter disbelief, Nessa was already in front of him, spinning and kicking the archdemon on the side of his head, which slightly cracked one of his horns.
Seeing that Nessa had everything under control, I approached the cyclops and asked him if he was okay, as he was still sitting on the ground, admiring Nessa’s moves.
"A-Are you General Nexa’s ally?" The cyclops asked, making nod affirmatively.
When I told him that we were going to the last floor of the castle, his eye widened in shock, muttering to himself that "Nexa’s rumor was true."
"What do you an?" I asked with a bit of curiosity.
Trachios explained that, a long ti ago, Nexa wanted to stop Anaris from holding more fights in the Hell-Ring.
A lot of young demons were dying in the arena for the amusent of other demons, and Nexa decided to put an end to it by making a deal with Anaris. If Nexa beca the champion of the Hell-Ring, then Anaris would stop organizing the fights.
However, after Nexa beca the champion, she was summoned by the Demon King Xalathas and turned into a General for his army.
After all the generals were sent through a portal to our world, Anaris resud his matches at the Hell-Ring, believing that he wouldn’t see Nexa ever again.
As the cyclops finished telling the story, Nessa grabbed Anaris by the only horn the devil had left and threw him against the arena’s wall with a force that released a shockwave and sent flying so of the demons spectating behind.
"How!?" Anaris exclaid, coughing out blood from the beating he received.
"I told you, Anaris. You can’t defeat ... You should’ve kept your word," Nessa replied, charging up her fist with a fiery aura.
When the archdemon quickly stood up with his eyes widened in fear, Nessa bolted forward and didn’t even give him a second to move, punching through Anaris’ chest and leaving a gaping hole that ended his life in an instant.
The demons that were spectating fell silent once again. With the master of the Hell-Ring dead, there were no more fights scheduled.
At first, I thought that the demons would try to swarm us with their numbers to get revenge for the archdemon, but none of them had the guts to stand up to us. In fact, most of them looked like they wanted to run away.
Using sound magic to make my voice fifty tis louder than usual, I spoke to every demon present in the vicinity.
"Any devil that stands in our way will get the sa treatnt. Stand aside, or die..." I said, and my voice was a little raspy since I tried to be intimidating.
Fortunately, it worked, and all of the demons simply stayed silent and kept their arms down. anwhile, lina and the rest of my group jumped down from the spectators’ seats into the arena.
We were ready to keep moving to the next floors, but before we did that, we used magic to create an earth path leading from the entrance all the way to the new staircase leading up. That way, our allies would have an easier ti going through the fifth floor.
"G-General Nexa!" Trachios exclaid, getting on one knee in front of the pink-haired devil, though he was still much taller than her.
"Thank you... For your help," he continued, looking down shyly.
"It wasn’t just . Ichiro interjected first... Also, I go by Nessa here," she replied with a slight smile of satisfaction on her face.
The cyclops seed surprised at Nessa’s friendliness, making his one eye glisten with hope as he gathered the courage to speak up once more.
"Could I assist you!?" Trachios asked, and before Nessa could answer, she glanced at first as if she was asking for my permission, so I approached them to say a few words.
"I only interrupted the match because I could sense that you didn’t want to fight. We are on our way to defeating your king..." I said, probing the cyclops to see if he had any loyalty for Xalathas.
If Trachios was having trouble fighting in the Hell-Ring, I assud that he wouldn’t want to keep killing more demons on the higher floors, and it seed like I was correct.
"I... I don’t want to kill anything anymore..." the cyclops muttered, and his one eye got a bit watery.
"Heh..." I chuckled, levitating a few feet above the ground so I could pat the cyclops’ shoulder. "You can help us in other ways!" I said, smiling at the demon.
