The day after Ovi’s birth, lina and I were helping the Vikings in the north with the repairs of their capital.

One of the main changes we made was to take down the large walls that split the city into five different areas. So of them were already pretty destroyed after the battle, so it wasn’t too much of a problem to fully get rid of them.

Besides, it wasn’t only lina and I who helped, as our familiars accompanied us as well, making the job much faster.

The walls were placed by the old emperor of the north as a way to segregate his residents into different types. The poorest citizens lived closer to the outskirts while the rich and powerful were closer to the center. Still, there weren’t as many wealthy citizens as in other countries like the Guanghua Kingdom.

As we were taking down the last wall, the earth rumbled for a mont, and I got startled, thinking that we were getting attacked again. However, the earthquake ceased after a few seconds.

"What was that...?" lina asked, but before I could answer, I felt as if my eyes were closed by themselves.

When I opened them, I found myself in an ethereal plain that looked exactly like the place I was brought to after my first death in my past life.

Compared to the first ti when I visited all by myself, I looked to the side, and lina was standing right next to with a perplexed expression.

"Ichi...? Wh-where are we?" lina nervously asked.

"Umm... This place is—" I tried answering, but I was cut off by the soothing voice of a woman whom I clearly recognized.

"Apologies for bringing you here so suddenly... You could say that this place is my ho," said Phelena, the Goddess of Life.

As lina and I looked to the side, a tall woman’s figure began materializing before us. Her long, sky-blue hair cascaded down her back, and her silky white dress looked elegant and refined.

"Phelena..." I muttered, slightly shocked that I was able to see her so clearly.

I had only seen Phelena a few tis before, and in all of those etings, she seed a bit hazy, as if she was made out of mist. However, her figure now looked perfectly solid.

"The Goddess of Life..." lina muttered.

The only reason lina had a vague idea of Phelena’s identity was thanks to the statue I made a long ti ago, which was still standing tall at the temple in End Town.

"It’s a pleasure to finally et you, lina... I hope you can forgive , for I was not able to bring you here with your mories intact," Phelena comnted, taking a few steps closer to us.

"S-so, you brought here after my death?" lina asked, prompting Phelena to nod in affirmation.

"I had chosen the two of you from the very first mont you t each other..." The goddess replied.

"B-but why were we brought here differently? I was reborn in your world under another family... Ah, don’t get wrong, I love my new family! They are kind and everything..." lina comnted.

"I’m just wondering. Why was I born in a castle as a princess while Ichiro was sent alone to a forest?" she continued.

"Well, Ichiro arriving in the forest was his own request... He asked to be sent sowhere far away from people," Phelena explained.

"I could have chosen other areas, but I thought that sending him to End Forest would lead him to you much faster," the goddess continued.

lina turned her head to look at with a pout, so I had to defend my actions, explaining that I was depressed and didn’t want to deal with other people, so I had requested to be sent sowhere far away.

"Still, why was I reborn when he was sent here as a grown child?" lina continued her questioning.

"Ah, let explain. You see, I can only transfer one soul to my world at a ti, but I needed the two of you. So, to bypass the limit, one had to be reborn so the other could be transferred..." Phelena elaborated.

"Since you had the unfortunate fate of passing away first, lina, you were the one who had to be reborn," the goddess continued.

It made sense when Phelena explained it like that. If she had transferred lina with all of her mories as a twelve-year-old, then I would have been the one reborn, and my wife would have been much older than !

Slowly, those small mysteries started getting uncovered. I never knew the reason why I appeared as a twelve-year-old until now. I an, she could have just transferred as an adult, so I always thought it was weird that she chose to turn into a child.

"My plan at first was to send Ichiro straight to the Sephyr Capital, but as he requested to be sent far away, I chose the furthest place inside the sa kingdom," Phelena comnted.

However, I never regretted my ti in End Forest. If I hadn’t arrived there, I would have never t Yoru and Vespera, and I didn’t think I could have made it this far without them.

"Either way, I’m glad everything has worked out. It makes happy to know that lina regained her mories... While the thod could have been a little less violent, I’m truly glad to see you two together again," Phelena said, her voice gentle and soothing, as if a mother was talking to us.

Honestly, I don’t know why, but her words made a little emotional. The words she spoke were sothing I would have wanted my old mother to tell .

Having soone as powerful as Goddess Phelena express her happiness just by seeing us together wasn’t sothing we took lightly.

"Now, my children... I must speak about the reason I brought you here," Phelena continued, her expression turning more serious.

"That tremor you felt... The Devil King has been summoned to the world," she said, leaving both lina and in silent shock for a few seconds.
