Once Grul and Dan told us the story of how they t and beca friends, we discovered how Baelzor’s power worked.

We already had a vague idea, and honestly, it was kind of irrelevant to know at this point since we learned how to counter it.

As long as we maintained a layer of MP around our bodies, the spell wouldn’t be strong enough to summon an imp inside our bodies.

I hesitantly asked Dan about his parents, noticing that he hadn’t said a word about them.

However, he had no problem telling that he was an orphan who lived with a family that adopted all abandoned children.

His ho had eight people living in it, and it was clear that he was getting overlooked by the adults, so he tried to hunt the rabbit alone.

Reinar and Jen, who had been hearing the entire thing, interjected the conversation and said that Dan and Grul were welco to help them in End Forest—which none of them had heard about before.

As soon as the alchemists said that it was in the western continent, the imp and the child’s eyes lit up with excitent, muttering to themselves that they always wanted to explore other parts of the world.

Grul would easily get accepted by the alchemists working at End Forest and the villagers in End Town, as they were already used to seeing more ridiculous sights than a kid and an imp.

"That’s actually a pretty good idea..." I muttered.

While Reinar and Jen kept telling them about their daily lives in End Forest, I received a voice ssage from Empress Lyssandra, telling that she had a magic quartz ready for .

I had sent her a ssage asking her if she could take a few more dozen people into her country, and since they wanted to increase the population of Droman, I knew that she wouldn’t decline.

To be fair, I had such a good relationship with the rulers of the nations that I don’t think any of them would have declined my request. But if the Droman Empire were the ones who needed more people, then I had no reason not to send them there.

As I was setting up the magic quartz on the ninth floor that would take people to Droman, I noticed that Grul abruptly stood up from the ground with an expression full of terror.

"Grul...?" I asked, but before I could approach the imp, Vespera quickly flew out of the ninth floor to the top.

"B-B-Baelzor..." Grul stamred.

["Ichiro!"] the voice of Vespera echoed in my head.

["They are coming!"] she continued.

(’What!? Wasn’t this place a secret from them!?’) I pondered, but I had no ti to think about how they found us and focused on prioritizing the safety of the people inside The Pit.

"Bjorn, Magnus. Get all the warriors ready!" I yelled, prompting the two Vikings to run up the stairs to the top floor.

"Reinar, Jen. You should get out of here—and take them with you!" I continued, pointing at Dan and Grul.

The two alchemists didn’t hesitate and took the kid and the imp by the arm, pulling them towards the magic quartz before I activated it and sent them to End Forest.

While the warriors were arming themselves, I guided the villagers and the children to the ninth floor so they could take the magic quartz to Droman.

I wanted to take my ti before sending them there to see if they were okay with leaving the north, but now we had no ti to worry about that.

So of the villagers were rushing to the top floor to say goodbye to their family mbers who were staying to fight, and I saw May and Helena hugging each other.

The little girl was crying uncontrollably in the arms of her mother, who was halfway done with putting on her armor.

"I’ll return, May. I’ll get your father..." Helena whispered to her child.

"No, mom. Please... Don’t leave ," May replied, her voice completely broken from her sadness.

Helena didn’t know how to respond and embraced her daughter even tighter, but I couldn’t take it anymore and intervened.

"You are both leaving this place..." I muttered as I stood next to the pair.

"W-what?" the mother asked.

"I already know what your husband looks like. I’ll get him back safely..." I said, gazing at the two.

I had witnessed Helena’s mories of the ti her husband got mind-controlled, and I still had a clear image in my head.

We didn’t know how dangerous the next encounter would be, and if anything happened to Helena, I would never be able to forgive myself for allowing her to be there and leaving her daughter.

"No, you don’t understand. I have to go!" Helena said, but I was not in the mood to bargain.

"Helena, you are the one who doesn’t understand!" I shouted at the woman.

"Your husband resisted the spell long enough to warn you so you could save yourself and May. Do you really think he wants you in the frontlines while your daughter is left alone!?" I continued, leaving the woman perplexed with her eyes widened.

I took a deep breath to calm myself and locked eyes with the mother. "I’ll bring him back. I promise..." I muttered, making the woman explode in tears as she held May in her arms and ran to the ninth floor, where they took the magic quartz to Droman.

’I’ll make this a world where families don’t have to cry like that ever again...’ I thought as the pair left The Pit.

I flew outside for a mont, and I could see thousands of soldiers marching toward the foot of the mountain, creating a wave of demonic energy that reached my location at the top.

"I sense two Accursed Beasts, three greater demons, and two devils..." Vespera muttered, standing beside and looking down at the soldiers’ march.

"Besides our high ground, we don’t really have an advantage here," I comnted, noting that the number of soldiers was simply too many for the warriors we had.
