A few hours of the day had gone by since we took over the house of the Bao family.

The guards and servants had regained consciousness, so lina and I wore our masks and went into the living room to feed and talk to them.

When giving them their food, we took off their bindings, explaining that if they tried anything funny, the whole house would burn down.

Once again, that was a lie, but sotis we had to do stuff like this.

While the servants were eating, one of them spoke up, a young woman wearing the tallic slave necklace.

"P-please, let check on Lady Bao. She is ill, and she can’t do much on her own!" the woman exclaid.

"Why would you want to help the person that enslaved you?" I asked.

It was evident that the servants had so level of respect for Lady Bao, but I wanted to know their reasons.

The servant explained that while they were technically slaves, the Bao family never treated them as such.

Lady Bao always put on an act to protect her family, but she had been against the enslavent law from the very beginning.

"You understand that her husband is the Military Chief of this country, right?" I asked, testing the limits of their loyalty.

"L-Lord Bao is doing what he can to survive. He has always treated us fairly!" the servant replied.

"Hmm, alright then. What’s your na?" I said.

"Jane!" said the servant.

"Okay, Jane, co with us, and let’s check on the lady. Only you, though..."

The servant stood up from the ground with haste, and after we bound everyone again with rope and sealing magic, Jane followed us to Lady Bao’s room.

When we entered, the servant rushed to the lady’s bedside and checked her temperature.

"She... She is sleeping so peacefully, and her fever is gone!" said Jane, wholly perplexed.

Right on ti, the noblewoman opened her eyes and found her maid, along with lina and , inside her room.

It seed that she couldn’t believe how good she felt, and as she sat up on her bed and moved her arms from side to side, she looked at us with a sowhat sad expression.

"H-how? Why?" the woman asked.

I pointed at the empty potion vial next to her bed and told them about the holy panacea, to which the lady had no idea they even existed.

My holy panaceas could be found all over the western continent as we exported them to all of our ally kingdoms. However, considering that Guanghua had been secluded from the rest of the world, they weren’t aware of its existence.

"I’m in your debt... truly," said Lady Bao with tears rolling down her cheeks.

From what she told us, she had been sick for months and was ready to accept her fate. Dozens of doctors visited her, but none of them could do anything for her other than alleviate the pain for a few hours.

I wasn’t a doctor or anything that resembled one, but I could tell by the way she looked when we first entered her room that she had so sort of degenerative disease—aning it would slowly consu her until the day she died.

"Well, you are still our hostage, so you don’t have to feel like you owe us anything..." I said.

Still, Lady Bao didn’t look scared at our words. In fact, she was quite happy moving her body around as it had been a long ti since she was able to.

Before leaving the room, we told her that she would have to knock on her own door if she needed sothing, as we would be sealing it with magic, just to make sure that she didn’t try escaping later on.

When we returned to the area with Leslie and Yujun, we woke them up from their nap so they could take a bath.

The two kids looked like they hadn’t showered since their birth, which probably wasn’t entirely true, but that’s how dirty they seed to .

"I’ll take Leslie, you go with Yujun," said lina as she carried the girl in her arms.

"Sure..." I complied, placing my hand on Yujun’s head and giving him a pat.

The dark-haired kid still hadn’t said a single word to us, but he seed like he trusted us much more than before, so I had no problems with that.

"Have you ever taken a bath, Yujun?" I asked as we both walked towards the bathroom.

The kid nodded in affirmation, which made curious as to where and when that even happened.

Funnily enough, this wouldn’t be the first ti in this world that I taught soone how to take a shower since I had to do it at End Town years ago.

Of course, the baths in Guanghua didn’t have an overhead shower, as that was sothing I had invented. All they had was a nice, big tub that they had to fill manually.

Still, that was an easy task for , so I just used water magic and heated it up with fire magic. Then, I added so soap to the hot water and told Yujun to get in.

For whatever reason, the kid was going to jump in fully clothed, so I had to explain to him that he needed to take it off so it wouldn’t get wet.

With an indifferent expression, the boy took off his shirt, and I noticed lash marks on his back and ribs. They seed to be a few months old, so they weren’t recent, but it was still enough to make my blood boil.

Without making a comnt about his scars, I helped him get in the tub and showed him how to put on shampoo.

It took him a few minutes, but eventually, he really seed to be enjoying himself in the tub while playing with the bubbles.

I felt like I was taking care of the little brother I never had, and honestly, it didn’t feel too bad.

However, it was those sa feelings that made even angrier at whoever left those marks on his body, so I was more determined to hunt down every single enslaver in this country.
