When lina and I descended from the air into one of the commoner areas outside the capital’s walls, we noticed the shabby state of it.

Their wooden houses were rotting and crumbling down, and the seemingly green patches of grass were all replaced by dirt.

The people walked around with a heavy, tallic necklace that marked them as slaves, dragging their feet on the ground as they walked by with somber expressions.

’It’s like a zombie town...’ I thought.

They all seed quite frightened by our presence, not even daring to look at us, which had to do with the fact we were dressed like nobles from their country.

A little boy and girl were walking by, holding hands with their faces covered in dirt and scratches.

The girl had long, disheveled blonde hair and green eyes, while the boy had straight jet-black hair and a mid-bob haircut.

The girl seed to be confidently leading the boy sowhere while the boy apprehensively followed.

I noticed lina was watching them with a curious expression, and without saying anything, we followed the two kids, who seed to be around seven or eight years old, until they hid behind a shabby house.

When we peeked to see what they were doing, the little girl was opening a box that seed to be buried and opened it to pull out an old piece of bread.

Then, she broke it in half and gave one to the boy with a smile.

’Wow, that’s cute as hell. Although, it’s also making sad...’ I thought.

There was sothing about watching two innocent little kids sharing a piece of old bread in the middle of a struggle that wasn’t even their fault that made my blood pump with anger.

Before I could do anything, lina had already approached the two kids, who didn’t notice her as they were busy eating their old bread.

When they looked to the side, their faces turned pale, and their eyes widened with fear.

"Ah, this, this is not...!" the girl stamred with a bit of panic but went totally quiet after lina gently placed her hand on her head.

Not saying a word, lina opened her void pocket, making the two kids excited as they had never seen magic like that, and pulled out different kinds of food—a rice bowl with boar at, fruits, and chocolate.

Then, she put all the items inside the kid’s box, patted their heads, and stood back up.

"Hang on a little longer, okay?" she whispered to the children before coming back to .

The two kids stared at the food for a mont, and after the girl slled a piece of chocolate, she put a bit in her mouth, and her eyes widened, shining with joy as she groaned happily.

We thought about using the magic quartz to teleport them to Yuandu, but that would also create a torrent of magic for a mont that another mage could potentially sniff out.

Since we needed to play it safe for a while, we decided we would take them with us whenever it was the right mont.

However, as soon as we started walking away, we heard footsteps behind us, and it was the two kids holding hands.

They flinched nervously when we turned to look at them as the boy slightly hid behind the girl, who held his hand with both of her palms to calm him down.

Thinking that maybe they were just walking in the sa direction as us, we walked a bit further, but the two children kept following, so we couldn’t ignore them anymore.

*sigh* (’What do we do in this case? We can’t just leave them now. That’s just gonna make feel guilty the entire ti...’) I thought.

"What are your nas?" lina asked as she kneeled to the kids’ level.

"Leslie!" the blonde girl replied with confidence, almost defiantly.

"He is Yujun. He doesn’t speak much..." she continued.

’Leslie? Blonde with green eyes? Her parents must have been from another country...’ I thought.

Blonde hair wasn’t all that rare in Guanghua, at least not as much as silver, so it wouldn’t be strange to find soone with her features.

However, the na Leslie didn’t have the sa Chinese roots as the others, so it was evident she wasn’t originally from there.

"Mhmm, Leslie, Yujun, do you need help looking for your parents?" lina asked them with a sweet smile and a gentle tone.

"We don’t have any..." Leslie replied, her eyes showing a bit of anger.

"I see, so you want to co with us? Is that why you are following us?" lina continued.

I could tell that she felt terrible inside for asking about their parents, but she tried her best to keep a gentle smile for the kids.

Leslie nodded fervently. "Take us with you, noble lady!" she exclaid.

*pfft* I scoffed with laughter, keeping it together and letting out a small chuckle.

I found it funny how the girl asked who she thought was a noblewoman to take them with her without even saying "please."

An actual noble from this country would have taken that as an offense, no doubt, but lina and I were both chuckling at her courage.

When lina first asked them if they wanted to co with us, I was a little lost as I didn’t know how we would manage to do that.

We weren’t real nobles from Guanghua, so we didn’t have a ho in the capital waiting for us or anything. However, Leslie’s determined eyes gave an idea.

"l, how about we take a noble’s ho for ourselves?" I asked with a cheeky smile.

My fiancee looked at and returned the sa smile as she thought the sa thing I did.

"Did you create a mind-reading spell?" she playfully asked.

I chuckled. "That’s not necessary when we are thinking the sa..."

Our plan at first was to stay at an inn, but if we brought the children with us, it would look strange for two nobles to bring them along.

From what Ling and Wu told us, all nobles had a ho in the capital, even if it wasn’t their main residence, so the inns were mostly used by noble couples who wanted to "switch things up." Basically, it was a love-hotel for nobles.

That’s why it wouldn’t be suspicious if it were just lina and , but bringing the kids would put us at risk of getting exposed.

If it were any other city in Guanghua, then there would have been no problem, as not every noble had a ho in every town. Still, we ca up with a solution.
