After lina and I were escorted to the stables, where the other slaves were waiting for their owners to leave the eting, we waited for a few minutes for all of them to arrive.
We knew that the nobles’ eting had begun since lina and I could listen to the whole thing thanks to the enchantnt we left on i Ling’s brooch, and that was the signal for us to start getting all these people out.
There was only one guard inside watching us, so I approached him in a friendly manner to confuse him for a mont before giving him a chop in the back of his neck, leaving him unconscious.
So of the enslaved villagers gasped after the guard went down, but lina quickly put their minds at ease as she softly told them that they would be freed that night.
Once we teleported all of the people inside the stables to Yuandu, including the unconscious guard, only lina and I remained inside the stables.
We casually opened the door as if we were leaving our own house, and the three guards standing outside looked at us with confusion.
"H-Hey, get back in-..." one of the guards spoke up, but his words were cut off after I gave him my signature karate chop at the back of the neck.
lina and I were too fast for the guards to react, so before they could alert anyone else, they were put to sleep and teleported to Yuandu.
The reason we were saving the guards along with the slaves was because, technically, most of them were in a similar position.
If a commoner had the option of becoming a guard or a slave, most of them would choose the forr. The problem was that it put them against their own people.
If a guard in Guanghua was tasked with protecting sothing, and they failed at their jobs, they would just get executed or enslaved, so we were doing them a favor by getting them out of there.
Now that all of the nobles were gathered in one place, lina and I decided to fly around the city and free the slaves that were left in their hos.
There wasn’t a need for us to be stealthy as we would be leaving the city that sa night, but we also couldn’t cause a huge commotion that would cancel the nobles’ eting.
While we were infiltrating their hos, taking out their guards, and freeing the rest of the slaves, lina and I kept listening attentively to the nobles talking.
[This is totally unacceptable. How co the guards disappeared too!?] said a noble.
[Agreed. Who is supposed to pay for these cris?]
[Even the ones that were being sold off were freed!]
[I heard Lord Yushan visited the venue that night!] said a noble.
[What? Are you accusing of having sothing to do with this!?] another replied, which I guessed was Lord Yushan, the guy who gave the slaves food plates before we arrived.
[I’m just saying. You could have at least seen sothing suspicious!] said the accuser.
The nobles’ eting was mostly a ss of them yelling and accusing each other, so we weren’t getting any good information from them until a man with a deep voice spoke up.
[Everyone, calm down!] he shouted, making all of the nobles quiet.
[Clearly, sothing strange happened last night that none of us are aware of. The three most prominent slave traders were kidnapped, so I don’t think that’s a coincidence...] the man explained.
’Oh, we got a smart one...’ I thought.
[Before we take this matter into our own hands, I believe we should call Mage Sinoc and The Scarlet Trio...]
’The Scarlet Trio...?’ I pondered.
[Lord Yifang, are you sure!? If they don’t show interest in this case, it might cost us!] a man asked.
[I believe this is sothing only they can solve. Our enemies were cunning and powerful, so I don’t see why we should hold back...] the man called Yifang said.
Before we knew it, two hours had gone by, and the nobles were still discussing with each other. On the other hand, lina and I had freed over 300 more slaves during that ti.
Having no nobles in the city made it extrely easy for us to infiltrate their hos and take everyone out. Even if we were a bit loud when doing it, there was nobody who could catch us.
Still, our night wasn’t over, as we still needed to play off the most important part of our plan.
lina and I had split up to cover more area of the city, which was why we were freeing so many slaves so quickly. However, noticing that the eting was coming to an end, the second part of the plan was put in motion.
While I kept freeing more of the enslaved villagers throughout the city, lna returned to the theater and used her sealing magic to lock all the doors, keeping all of the nobles inside.
It took them a few minutes to notice, but suddenly, we could hear them panicking from the sound magic that kept reaching our ears.
[It’s locked, I’m telling you!] said a nobleman.
[Move aside, let try!] another one exclaid, followed by the sound of thuds against the door.
It didn’t matter if they tried knocking down the door. lina’s sealing magic wasn’t that easy to break, so I had a lot more ti to keep freeing people.
After two more hours of having them locked up, lina and I had freed every single slave from Xiulan. At least the ones we could find.
In total, counting the ones we saved the previous night, we ended up freeing around 1,300 slaves and 150 guards. Still, we had one more thing to do.
With everyone gone, it would be extrely suspicious if the nobles left the eting and found that lina and I were the only "slaves" who were left, so it was ti for us to leave the city for good.
Nevertheless, we were taking i Ling with us. In the case that this problem got to her, we would be able to protect her.
Opening my void pocket, I took out two of the masks that we used the first ti we passed by Guanghua.
For so reason, I decided to keep them, thinking that we wouldn’t use them again, but they were perfect for this opportunity.
