The following day, we woke up at the jungle settlent and had a quick breakfast before continuing our work at the water canal.

We flew to the spot where we left off and kept moving the debris and trees from the canal for hours until we reached the final stretch that led to the lake.

Once we cleared the last pieces of rocks, the water was flowing through the canal steadily, and my group and I decided to sit down to rest for a bit beside the lake, which was actually quite nice.

However, the peace didn’t last long as we felt the presence of lots of monsters surrounding us.

"The chief did say that the lake area was overrun by monsters..." I comnted to my companions.

In the pack of beasts surrounding us, I spotted a few orangutans with a very large body—about double the size of an ordinary one.

From the lake, black giant caimans crept out and walked carefully towards us, waiting for the best mont to strike.

"Hmmm, so of these monkeys seed to have been displaced from their hos..." said Carli.

The ghost gorilla’s uproar caused plenty of animals and monsters to migrate to different areas of the jungle, forcing them to change their lifestyles and diets in order to survive.

"Let’s just scare them away then..." I said, casting a fire laser from my finger and shooting it straight at a tree, taking it down with one scorching projectile.

lina and Vespera followed my lead and shot their fire lasers in different directions, making the orangutans retreat, and the caimans return to their lake.

After we returned to the settlent, we noticed that most of the beastkins were gathered around their pond, which was now filled with fresh water for them to drink from.

The residents started thanking us sincerely. So of them even prostrated themselves as if we were kings or sothing.

Still, lina and I felt pretty proud about our work once we saw all the beastkin enthusiastically collecting water.

"Young man, young lady... Please co with ..." said Bodego, the chief.

The old beastkin took and my group to the ancient temple that was a few minutes away from the settlent.

"Gio, Gia!" Bodego yelled before going up the staircase, making the two beastkin guards appear from their hiding spots.

"We are allowing them inside," the old man said, making the two beastkin widen their eyes with shock.

"A-are you sure, sir?" Gio asked.

The chief nodded confidently with a slight smile and began going up the stairs with us following closely behind.

When we reached the entrance, Gio and Gia closed their eyes in reflection and let out a sigh as they stepped aside to make way for the group.

"Hey, chief, why are you doing this for us?" I asked, curious as to what was happening.

The fact that the jungle beastkins had been guarding the temple for thousands of years was interesting to , but they were very adamant about us staying away at first.

Honestly, lina and I liked exploring new places, but we wouldn’t trespass on soone’s sacred ground just to satiate our curiosity, which was why we decided to leave the whole business with the temple behind.

Nonetheless, we were back now with full clearance to enter, which wasn’t what we expected.

"When I first saw you, I had my suspicions. But after seeing you two rebuild everything in hours, now I’m sure..." the old man replied, entering the temple and guiding our group through the damp hall.

After reaching the end, Bodego lit up a torch to illuminate the path, but lina and I simply cast a light mote that gave us a much better sight of the surroundings.

At the end of the hall, we found a set of uneven stairs that led down the pyramid and took us to a much wider hall.

We made the light motes grow a little brighter and saw drawings and Roman letters written on the walls.

"This place..." I muttered, noticing that the word "demi-god" was written on one of the walls above the drawing of a man with a spear.

"This temple was built thousands of years ago during the creation of Kalusia..." Bodego explained.

He said that the jungle beastkins were tasked with protecting the artifacts inside the temples until soone who could open the "final gates" arrived.

"Out of all the ti we have been here, our records only show three people that had been able to open it. But the artifacts were always returned by them after..." the chief continued.

"What do you an when you say the final gates?" lina asked, still entranced in the drawings on the wall.

"At the very end of the temple, there is one final gate that can only be opened if the correct words are spoken. However, nobody can read the ancient scriptures..." Bodego replied.

"Umm, do you an these scriptures?" I asked, pointing at the word "magic" written on the wall in perfect English and Roman letters.

The chief nodded, saying that nobody in the world was able to read those scriptures. However, the prophecy stated that every few hundred years, soone who could read it would arrive.

"Chief, was this place built by Alejandro?" I asked, making the old beastkin widen his eyes with surprise.

"Well, the legend says it was him. We don’t really have a way to prove it, though," he replied.

lina looked at with a raised eyebrow, asking who Alejandro was and making a little nervous since I hadn’t told her anything about past reincarnations who beca demi-gods like .

"Uhh, he was the founder of Kalusia! Yeah, that’s right..." I replied, stamring my words slightly.

The princess approached and kept her eyebrow raised, getting her face really close to mine.

"Hmph, you are lying..." she muttered, letting out a sigh of annoyance.

’Of course, she knows I’m lying...’ I thought.

"Look, I’ll explain more about it later. But he was the founder, though!" I insisted.

Thankfully, Bodego supported my statent and said that Alejandro was indeed the founder of Kalusia, who united all of the beastkin into one nation.

’Nice save, Bodego!’
