Chapter 352: Chapter 0351: Infighting (Part 4)_1
After hanging up the phone, a servant ca to inform everyone that it was ti to go down for dinner.
Because Wu Lizhen had just passed away, the atmosphere in the Murong Family was rather gloomy.
Ye Xiong’s subordinates were greatly annoyed by Murong Feng’s insistence on adhering to the ancestral teachings and not disclosing the winners’ prize of the dical Convention, which added to the oppressive atmosphere at the dinner table.
“Risk our lives fighting, and we don’t even know what the Beast Organization’s aim is. What’s the point in investigating? Might as well go back to Hunter Bodyguard Company and get so good sleep,” An Le, irritated, blurted out while eating.
“It’s like banging our heads against the wall, investigating like this is truly frustrating,” An Ji also complained resentfully.
“We from the Lingnan Sect are a distinguished sect in the south; ancestral teachings are of course important. Do you think just any Tom, Dick, or Harry should know about them?” On Murong Feng’s left, a young man retorted.
This young man, Murong Feng’s only disciple, was nad Murong Qiang, who had just returned upon hearing the news.
Murong Feng was a rather low-profile individual. Unlike the wealthy and powerful Duanmu Family with their two hospitals, he only opened one clinic focusing on benefiting the common folk, and he had only taken on one disciple. Having fathered only one daughter himself, he was much more low-profile compared to the Duanmu Family.
Murong Feng had spent his entire life imrsed in the study of dical skills, paying little attention to daily life matters.
“Who are you calling Tom, Dick, or Harry? Is this the attitude you’re showing towards those who helped the Murong Family through a crisis?” Gecko couldn’t restrain himself and stood up.
This mission had already cost him two comrades-in-arms, and he had been frustrated for a long ti; he couldn’t bear the other party’s attitude any longer.
In the past, whenever they went on missions, how polite were people when they heard they were from the Dragon Group?
“The affairs of the Murong Family are none of the business of outsiders; we can handle it ourselves,” Murong Qiang scoffed.
“Do you think we want to investigate?
“Who knows if soone is coveting the prize of the dical Skill competition with ulterior motives? These days, the number of people eyeing the prize greedily is beyond count.”
“Ah Qiang, shut up,” Murong Feng commanded sternly.
Thwack!
Gecko slamd his chopsticks onto the table.
Ye Xiong lifted his head and ordered, “Sit down.”
“But Ye Xiong, he…”
“I told you to sit down, did you hear ?”
Reluctantly, Gecko sat back down.
Although Ye Xiong was not a mber of the Dragon Group, the leader had issued a death order that they were to follow Ye Xiong’s commands in everything.
Even his team leader Wu Wang had to obey Ye Xiong’s orders, not to ntion a team mber like him.
Ye Xiong spoke slowly, “This mission is very dangerous. Anyone among you who wants to back out can leave now.”
Upon hearing his words, everyone around him fell silent.
“An Le, An Ji, do you wish to withdraw?”
Twisting her mouth, An Le responded, “Master, you know I’m just complaining. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Sa here,” An Ji replied.
“What about you?” Ye Xiong’s gaze fell on Gecko.
Gecko remained silent.
“I can assure you, there will be absolutely no consequences for leaving. Although I’m not from the Dragon Group, I can still guarantee that this ti.”
“I’m not leaving,” Gecko replied.
“If all of you are willing to stay, I only have one request: keep your mouths shut and follow orders obediently.”
After speaking, he gently placed his chopsticks on the table, stood up, and walked out.
With Ye Xiong gone, the mood at the dining table grew even more oppressive.
Next, An Le followed suit and put down her chopsticks, followed by Angel, and then by Gecko, as well as another Dragon Group mber, Tank. Only Wu Wang from Wu Wang’s organization remained at the table.
Duanmu Linglong watched Ye Xiong’s retreating silhouette, and for so reason, at that mont, his figure seed to loom larger than life.
He didn’t get angry, but there was a chill in the air more biting than fury.
He was always calm and composed, but that only made him feel as oppressive as Mount Tai.
He didn’t force the people around him to do things, but they trusted him implicitly.
“Ye Xiong isn’t a mber of the Dragon Group?” Duanmu Linglong couldn’t help but ask Wu Wang.
She had always thought Ye Xiong belonged to the Dragon Group, only to find out that wasn’t the case.
“He’s not from the Dragon Group. The An Family Sisters aren’t either; they have their own organization. It’s , Gecko, and Tank who are from the Dragon Group,” Wu Wang replied.
“Then why would he help the Dragon Group?”
“He used to be the strongest warrior in the Dragon Group. The leader persuaded him to help,” Wu Wang said.
“Why did he leave the Dragon Group?” Duanmu Linglong was curious.
“His team was annihilated. The one who killed his organization was the leader of the Beast Organization,” Wu Wang said, his gaze falling on Murong Qiang’s face with a detached tone. “Those team mbers had gone through life and death with him for years, closer to him than his own brothers. Do you think you’re the only ones who have lost loved ones, the only ones who are hurting?”
Wu Wang set his bowl down, no longer in the mood to eat.
Recalling the two Dragon Group mbers who had died to save her, Duanmu Linglong also lost her appetite, and promptly put down her chopsticks, leaving only the Murong Family at the table.
Murong Feng sighed, “Ruyin, did Dad make a mistake by steadfastly adhering to the family legacy?”
Murong Ruyin didn’t know how to answer. On one hand, the sect’s legacy must be honored; on the other, investigating the case required knowledge of the legacy’s contents. It was unfortunate that the two conflicted.
“Dad, just stick to your principles,” Murong Ruyin said.
Comforted by his daughter’s words, Murong Feng felt sowhat consoled.
Ye Xiong walked out of the yard, strolling in the garden, and mories of his forr comrades couldn’t help but surface in his mind.
Qiao Yang, Lu ng, Zhao Yishan, Zhao Chuanguo, Xu Xiaofeng.
These nas were still etched deeply in his heart.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps from behind.
An Le caught up with him, walking by his side.
“Master, I didn’t an it earlier. I just can’t stand it,” she said.
“Just be mindful of the situation next ti. Making divisive comnts in that kind of scenario can easily lead to infighting,” Ye Xiong advised.
“You’re not mad at , right?”
“You still owe a lot of money. If I got mad at you, what would I do if you just walked away?” Ye Xiong said with a laugh.
“I will follow you for life unless you don’t want anymore,” An Le said unequivocally, not hiding her affection for Ye Xiong.
This matched her personality: bold in love and hate, caring about nothing else, unlike her more reserved sister, Angel.
Ye Xiong had many won in his life, and none were as bold in declaring their love as An Le.
Even those like Yang Xinyi, Du Yuehua, and Luo Weiwei, with whom he had already been intimate, were subtle in expressing their love, not to ntion the very assertive Phoenix and He ngji.
It wasn’t that they had no feelings for him, but even if they did, they certainly wouldn’t be as daring as An Le.
“As long as you want to follow, the door over here will always be open for you,” he said.
“Finally, you show so conscience,” she retorted.
Feeling less gloomy, Ye Xiong patted his stomach and said, “Go get sothing to eat; I’m starving to death.”
