Chapter 755: 755, recalling past events

Mo Weiyi, after taking a shower, ca out to find Xiao Yebai reading on the bedside.

The man was wearing a comfortable, casual, dark-colored robe, spectacles perched on the bridge of his nose, his slender fair fingers gripping the book. His appearance was refined and elegant.

Mo Weiyi pursed her lips and sat down at the dressing table, beginning her own skincare routine.

The room was very quiet.

A quietness that felt sowhat eerie.

Mo Weiyi remained silent, and so did Xiao Yebai, as if they had both decided to do so.

...

About half an hour later, Mo Weiyi patted her face and got up, walking over to the bedside.

As she pulled back the thin blanket, she turned off all the lights in the room, leaving only one desk lamp for him.

No sooner had she settled herself down than “pop”, Xiao Yebai reached out to turn off that desk lamp too.

After a rustling sound, a warm, distinctly masculine fragrance unique to Xiao Yebai wafted towards her.

Her soft, gentle voice erged from the darkness, “I’m a bit tired today.”

Lately… Xiao Yebai has been a bit off.

He had never shown this kind of initiative and passion before.

But Mo Weiyi didn’t want to take the pill, and Doctor Pu had said her health condition might make it hard for her to conceive.

If she truly wants to have a child in the future, she can’t keep relying on such dication and risk potential harm.

Xiao Yebai used to be very careful, always rembering to take precautions every ti, and if he happened to forget, he would personally prepare the necessary dication for her the next day.

But not these past few days.

So when Xiao Yebai grabbed her chin and turned her face towards him, Mo Weiyi blurted out, “Can’t you consider for once? I told you I’m tired today, I don’t want to.”

The man imdiately tensed up.

She couldn’t see his expression in the darkness, but Mo Weiyi knew.

It was definitely not a happy one.

The oppressive atmosphere was too obvious, as if the air in the entire room had instantly solidified.

Mo Weiyi blinked, trying to explain, “I don’t want to take the pill. The doctor says it’s bad for my health and will leave after-effects that could affect fertility in the future.”

Upon hearing her words, Xiao Yebai’s voice resonated quietly in the dark, “Don’t you want to get pregnant?”

Mo Weiyi was taken aback.

Yes, she did want to get pregnant, but…

That was all before.

She had even made a bet with Xiao Yebai that she would rank in the top ten in English class just so she could successfully conceive.

But after striving for two months, she ended up in eleventh place.

She felt… sowhat toyed with by fate.

Perhaps for this reason, Mo Weiyi’s feelings towards having a child had waned, especially with all that has happened with Tian Ye, she didn’t have the mindset to consider it anymore.

She said, “I suddenly don’t want to get pregnant anymore.”

“Why?”

“I think you’re right. I’m still young and my studies are important. There’s plenty of ti for babies in the future, so I’ll listen to you.”

Xiao Yebai didn’t respond, he rely let go of her and lay down next to her.

Quietness resud in the bedroom.

Mo Weiyi stared at the pitch-black ceiling, listening to the faint rustling sound of breathing next to her ear, then she abruptly spoke, “Xiaobai.”

“Hmm.”

“Can you tell about your study abroad experience?”

“What about it?”

The man’s voice was low and flat.

No discernible emotions could be made out.

It was as if nothing had happened just a mont before.

Mo Weiyi proposed, “You studied abroad for five years. Must have had a lot of fun, right? Just tell a few things at random, I want to hear.”

“It wasn’t fun.”

Mo Weiyi: “…”

“Didn’t you have a few schoolmates from Nancheng?” she probed tactfully. “Zhan Yao, Tian Ye, and that… Ye Bei. You all were in the sa year. Spending five years together, there must have been so fun monts.”

“There were not.”

Mo Weiyi continued: “…”

“Why do you ask all of a sudden?” Xiao Yebai countered.

Mo Weiyi thought for a mont before responding. “I suddenly rembered when I ca to et you abroad. Do you still rember that?”

“I do.”

Xiao Yebai certainly rembers.

It was his second year of studying abroad in Seattle.

Because he wanted to finish his studies as soon as possible, he imrsed himself in his studies in Arica, not returning ho during the first year.

Mo Weiyi managed to obtain his phone number at the Arican Institute from Old Mr. Mo, but every ti she called, Xiao Yebai was either in class, studying, or working part-ti.

He hung up after a few short sentences.

From the mont Mo Weiyi saw Xiao Yebai at the Mo family when she was ten years old, she liked to cling to him every day.

Except for class ti, the two were pretty much always together.

But since he went to study in Arica, she couldn’t see him, and even calling him was like this. How could Mo Weiyi bear this?

So, in the second year, she made arrangents early. She secretly took her household registration, let Rong An take her to apply for a U.S. visa, bought a plane ticket, and even had Su Wanwan and Rong An help her keep it a secret. Finally, she got on a plane to Seattle.

She was only fourteen that year.

And it was her first ti going abroad.

Alone.

Xiao Yebai still rembers, it was a late September day, right after dinner, when his phone suddenly rang.

As soon as he answered, a series of standard Arican English, a rough voice on the other end asked, “Excuse , is this Mr. Xiao Yebai? We’re calling from the 89th police station in ** district. Do you recognize a little girl nad Mo Weiyi?”

Xiao Yebai was taken aback.

“Sir? Mr. Xiao?”

“I’m here.”

“Do you know a little girl nad Mo Weiyi? She says you’re her boyfriend, I was wondering…”

“I know her.” Xiao Yebai interrupted, “Tell your exact address.”

“Alright, ** district, ** Road, 89th police station.”

It was cold in Seattle in September. Xiao Yebai took a taxi, and when he arrived at the police station, it was already past eight in the evening.

Since the Mo family hadn’t called, he guessed that Mo Weiyi must have sneaked over on her own.

Sothing he hadn’t seen coming at all.

Mo Weiyi, pampered since childhood, had been kidnapped when she was very young. With the Mo family being involved in underworld dealings and with many enemies, she always had to be accompanied by a large number of bodyguards and servants whenever she went out to prevent any accidents.

And if the Mo family learned she had sneaked to Seattle, the only one they would bla was Xiao Yebai.

The streetlights were lonely.

Xiao Yebai entered the police station and spotted Mo Weiyi in the office.

A fourteen-year-old girl, as she was a late bloor, her height was just over 1.3 ters, making her look like a ten-year-old child.

She was still wearing her high school uniform. A white shirt, navy blue knitted vest, and red checkered skirt, revealing her straight legs covered in white socks.

At nineteen, Xiao Yebai was already 1.88 ters tall.

So, when Mo Weiyi rushed into his arms, she was only up to his waist, like a… dwarf.

She raised her head.

Her lovely face was sared with dust. She frowned, pursed her lips, and her whole being looked utterly wronged. “Yebai, why are you only coming now?”

Foreigners were open-minded, and the police officers, unfazed by the young couple, didn’t find anything strange about this scene.

But Xiao Yebai imdiately pulled her away from his side. “How did you get here?”

Mo Weiyi quickly clung back to him. Her soft little hands held on to his sleeves, her young voice innocent and naive. “I missed you, so I ca to find you.”

The nineteen-year-old boy’s expressions plainly showed his irritation. “Does your family know?”

“They don’t.”

Hearing this, Xiao Yebai’s brow furrowed tighter.

He lowered his head, pulled out his phone from his pocket, ready to call ho.

“Yebai, don’t make the call!”

His finger was tightly gripped. “I sneaked over, if my mother finds out, she’ll kill .”

The Mo family loved this little princess dearly. The one she feared the most was her strict mother, Xu Xian.

“If anything happens to you, she’ll bla .”

“But nothing happened to ! Just that my wallet got stolen.” Mo Weiyi was a bit guilty.

She was really careful already. She followed the route Rong An planned for her – once she got off the plane, she took a taxi to find Yebai.

But when she wanted to pay her fare, she noticed that soone had sliced her backpack open and both her phone and wallet were gone.

Luckily, she rembered Xiao Yebai’s phone number by heart. Thanks to her good looks, the police officers were patient with her. They got Xiao Yebai to co pick her up using the phone number she provided!

At this mont, looking at Xiao Yebai’s handso and refined appearance, even though he showed signs of irritation, Mo Weiyi’s happiness outweighed everything else. She didn’t know if it was because they hadn’t seen each other for a year, but she felt that Yebai had grown taller and looked handso and charming, even with his poker face.
