Chapter 635: Chapter 398: ‘Li’ Raising Fish

“Four and a half tis…almost caught up with the young lady…that’s a good fish…”

The sword-carrying man nodded.

At this mont, Li Bai thought his posture was very cool.

It’s just that his entirely green outfit might not match very well, a pity indeed.

Besides, he was the only one there; no one else was present to admire such a heroic stance, which was quite regrettable.

The sword-carrying man smiled.

For instance, that Zhao Rong kid, as well as little Qian’er.

That stinky boy seed eager to understand certain things and often tried to probe him in a roundabout way.

If he were here at the mont, perhaps Li Bai could have played the enigmatic man in front of him again.

In addition, Li Bai had been hiding so very impressive lines that Zhao Rong’s private tutor, Teacher Fang, had helped him think of while he was in Great Chu’s Qianjing; they were extrely artistic and pretentious lines, truly befitting the brain of a scholar, capable of crafting such awe-inspiring sentences.

When the ti cos, he could show off in front of little Qian’er to steal the stinky boy’s thunder…

But for now, it was a pity they were still inside the inn’s rooms, seemingly… disciplining that Fairy Su; the sounds were quite loud, and they hadn’t followed. He had run out precisely because he couldn’t stand listening to it anymore…

Li Bai shook his head and sighed, then walked down from the rest pavilion, took another glance at the bright moon in the sky, and headed down the mountain in the moonlight.

His journey here, following that interestingly beautiful girl and the little girl with the missing tooth, wasn’t because he shared the sa stalking obsession as those boring masters and behind-the-scenes manipulators in storybooks; it was a spur-of-the-mont act to suppress the spiritual energy fluctuations caused by that ‘little fish.’

There were still so diocrity, barely presentable people in Xingzi Town tonight, like the Chief Musician of the Music Workshop and the Regent King of Great Li who hadn’t left yet. If it weren’t for Li Bai’s help, that little fish that left Xingzi Lake might have been discovered.

As for why he would help the person ‘fishing’ in Xingzi Lake…

“I’ll have to bring it up when we et on Sacrificial Moon Mountain, that the fish she has been raising have all run off… Her approach as a mber of the Li Clan is really lacking, if Mr. Bai has chosen to cooperate with her, I hope it doesn’t bring trouble to our Young Master… Huh, wait a second, could it be intentional?”

Li Bai murmured to himself and looked back in the direction where Luo Xiu and the little fish had left.

He narrowed his eyes for a while and muttered, “Not just raising fish in this small pond of Li Territory? Is she planning to raise them in the ocean? And that girl from the Pure White Cold Palace, she couldn’t also be a fish, could she? Tch tch, unlikely, considering the Zhao kid interfered and let her go, and as a result, Luo Xiu conveniently took away the big fish in Xingzi Lake too… how interesting.”

The sword-carrying man tightened his grip on the sword in his arms and, echoing Zhao Rong’s manner, sighed in admiration:

“You’re quite sothing, you stinky boy. The most cunning sches are disrupted by you; however, this ti it’s different from when you encountered Mr. Bai, you aren’t so lucky, kid; this ‘Li’ seems to have quite the temper…

“Well, I’m just a lowly guard; aside from taking this sword to Sacrificial Moon Mountain to et her and deal with so matters, my only promise to the young lady was to ensure your safety, Zhao Miss; it definitely didn’t include speaking well on your behalf…”

Li Bai returned to Xingzi Town with a hint of schadenfreude, crossed the silent streets deep in the night, and once again arrived in front of the ancient stele at the end of the Star River path by Xingzi Lake.

He glanced at the ancient stele beside him, squatted down at the edge of the stele, looked down at the rippling black lake water, and scooped up a handful.

With water in hand reflecting the moon, the stars were also present.

But now, the water of Xingzi Lake seed no longer as bright and clear as before after the little girl with the missing tooth walked the Star River path and left.

The stars and the moonlight reflected in the water had also dimd, as if a layer of black gauze intervened, a dull grey glow, indistinguishable from ordinary lake water.

Li Bai nodded, scooped water with one hand, and squinted towards the pavilion at the lake’s center.

“What a good place for raising fish,” he sighed softly. “Great Li does justice to its ancestral lands. Seeing this return, it looks well prepared; the ambitions don’t seem small. Could she be planning to take back everything lost in the past? Has she co to an agreent with Sword Pavilion?”

The sword-carrying man gently shook his head, seemingly not too optimistic, yet with a look of amusent, he looked around, appreciating the ‘King Li’s’ masterful setup.

Star Lake was actually an Ancient formation that had been reconstructed, capable of isolating the outside Spiritual Energy. During the Ancient Era, it must have been a prison of no small scale built by the people of the Li Clan to incarcerate those with Great Divine Power, and this ancient stele together with the Star River path were the only entrances to the center of the lake, and ‘prisoners’ could only walk this path.

But as the seas may deplete to mulberry fields, this dilapidated formation had long been abandoned until it was repurposed by the current ‘Li’ who returned. It still functioned as a prison, however, targeting only one person at the formation’s core… that little girl with the missing tooth.

For many years, the magnificent Zuixian Building in the lake’s center had been bustling with activity, with countless cultivators visiting every night, and not long ago, Su Qingdai even absorbed a massive amount of Spiritual Energy there for a Realm Breakthrough… Yet, almost no one noticed the depletion of Spiritual Energy, nor that Spiritual Energy inside and outside the lake was sealed off.

The reason is that Xingzi Lake’s own Spiritual Energy was incredibly abundant, and after the reconstruction, the lake bottom formation could draw Star and Moonlight on its own, making the miraculous Star Lake Water a renowned landscape far and near the Li Territory; the spiritual qi there was even more abundant than outside. But how many are aware of its mysteries?
