947 Head Of NIRV
It was clear that the guard wasn’t used to using the baton. When swinging it and the baton started to electrify, he turned his head away and held it by the edge, afraid he was going to get hurt.
The entirety of Dean’s body lit up, and all the workers who were coming in and out of the place turned their attention to the commotion that had occurred inside. Although they had many people co in, it wasn’t every day sothing like this would happen.
The woman behind the reception had even taken a step back due to the strong amount of sparks. In the end, though, the baton pulled away as its power surge stopped.
The guard then blinked a few tis as he looked at the large man. "You're completely fine… how can you be completely fine?"
Dean grunted a bit; the electrifying effect did sting a bit. He was just so focused on the task and the receptionist ahead.
"Hey, are you listening to ? We told you to leave, or do you want to have another shock?" the guard shouted again.
Since there was no response, he swung the baton again and it lit up once more. Before it reached Dean, though, he reached out with his own hand and grabbed the guard by the wrist.
"I would appreciate it if you didn’t do that. It kind of hurt last ti," Dean said, and for the first ti, he turned to look at the guard. When staring at him, his eyes were now glowing red.
All the hairs on the guard’s body stood up as he was paralyzed with fear. When Dean relaxed his grip, the guard dropped the baton straight onto the floor and started to run away.
The woman at the reception wanted to shout at the guard, questioning the point of hiring soone like him if he wasn’t even going to do his job.
When Dean turned back to the receptionist, he saw a long claw heading straight for him. He quickly ducked, avoiding the hit, and took a step back when he saw soone at the counter.
"Oh, you're fast. You're really fast. I like it," the man said.
Dean took a look at the man that had just attacked him. He had strange long fingers with long curled nails at the end. They were claws, but not like a werewolf's. In Dean’s mind, they were far less intimidating.
The man himself stood out compared to the rest who were coming in and out of the building. He was wearing a leather jacket and had wild ssy hair with several piercings all over, including his tongue.
"An Altered," Dean said.
"Yes, and since you gave our guard a hard ti, I guess I need to be the one to show you why you can’t just co in here and do what you want!" The man charged forward and swung his claws.
The swings were wild, like throwing punches trying to cause the most amount of damage. Dean easily avoided them, stepping to the side. This was easier than he thought.
He had fought against Altereds, those that had attacked Ruin City before. To everyone else, it might look quite impressive because of the speed of the Altered compared to the human, but it was nothing for Dean.
Avoiding another wide swing, Dean knocked his arm to the side, making his body weight shift further. The man stumbled and Dean then punched him across the face. It was a heavy hit that nearly made the man lose consciousness.
Dean could tell as he was shaky on his feet. After that, he grabbed him by the back of his jacket and flung him to the floor, knocking him down.
"I’m not here to cause trouble. I don’t want to make a scene!" Dean said. "I just want to make an appointnt."
The receptionist, along with other staff mbers, were scrambling. Now that they had seen one of their Altereds defeated, they were worried about what the man might do. Surely in the NIRV building, they would have soone who could take him out.
"Would you all calm down," a deep and resonant voice said.
When turning around, they all saw a large tall man enter, an older gentleman with a gray beard, well-kept and still handso. If one could have perfect wrinkles, then this man certainly had them, making him seem more charming.
The man wore a lab coat, and the other staff mbers seed to listen to him.
"I overheard you from before. You said that you were an Altered, correct, and you want to see a researcher?" the old man asked.
"Yes… I have a particular situation, and I want to see if soone can help ," Dean replied.
"Well, the fact that you were able to take out an Altered by yourself is proof enough to that you are an Altered. So I guess I can help you. Bianca, cancel all my etings for today, tell them an ergency has co up," the man said.
After saying those words, the man confidently walked ahead and gestured for Dean to follow him. He said things with confidence, didn’t speak many words, and just got on with his work.
Even after seeing what Dean could do, it was strange this man wasn’t afraid of him. He would assu that every human would at least have a little bit of fear towards Altereds or strong humans, but it wasn’t true for this man.
"Thank you… umm, I don’t know your na. May I have your na?" Dean asked.
"Sure, my na is Rickle Epn, and I’m one of the founders of NIRV, so you're in good hands," he replied.
