The last line from Gary’s father; he had heard it before himself, or at least in so form. One of them was from the system quest; once he beca a King Grade, it was almost as if it would initiate a quest between the two of them.
Then there was also the deal that Gary had made during the ritual: within 5 years, he would take out Lupus and his group. He didn’t know why, or who he was talking to, but he knew one thing—him and his werewolves were no longer affected by the full moon.
“This is a history that has been passed down by all werewolves,” Dean stated. “That if there are two Alphas, that the two of them will always battle, leaving only one left to lead the pack.
“I don’t know if it’s our nature, to not allow another pack to exist, or if fear eventually creeps into the Alpha that sothing will happen, but a fight between the two always seems to take place.”
So far, Gary thought it was extrely true, considering he had no choice in the matter due to the deal he had made. He could ignore the system’s request, but what about the deal? What would happen if he didn’t complete it? Would Gary and his entire pack beco permanently werewolves?
It was sothing he didn’t particularly want to find out, but so far Lupus and his group hadn’t attacked him either; maybe they didn’t want to fight? So it felt wrong for Gary to bring the fight to them as well.
“I guess Midwak was right,” Kai stated. “If they feel this way, if they know about you, Gary, now that another Alpha is out there, they will want to get rid of you before you grow stronger.”
“You are right about that,” Dean sighed, as it looked like he wanted to say more, looking into the distance. He still hadn’t said much about the system part itself, but just as he agreed he would be patient.
“I told you about our nature; it seems to pin us together, but a correct term might be destiny. There is a reason why in the werewolf pack so much history of this happening. There has never been a case where there has been three Alphas, only two.
“Whenever an Alpha has been dealt with or taken care of, then at so point and ti an Alpha will appear.”
Gary thought about his own situation. Originally, he wasn’t an Alpha wolf; he was considered an Oga but had beco an Alpha wolf. Was it a coincidence? Could soone like Billy, even if he made his own pact, not beco an Alpha wolf, or if he had created more would he have been another Alpha?
“I assu you know about the many mystical things about the werewolf packs, for instance, the right for mbers to challenge another, right?” Dean asked.
Gary nodded. Thankfully, the only person that had challenged Gary for his position of Alpha was Midwak, and it was a great training tool for him to make sure he continued to get stronger.
“A werewolf can challenge the Alpha for their position; if the Alpha loses, then that werewolf becos the new Alpha. Everyone in the pack can feel it when this takes place; it’s even noticeable by the change of color in one’s eyes. It’s not just so silly traditional rule, but more so sothing that is bound to us by mystical power that even controls our forms,” Dean explained.
“Right, I understand all this, and I understand the history of where it cos from and why it’s important; are you trying to tell that no matter what, I will have to go up against Lupus? Because I beca an Alpha wolf.”
“To a degree, yes, but rember I told you I would explain everything; this is part of my explanation,” Dean added. “Think about it a bit more from what I’ve told you; all werewolves originally co from one stem. There are two ways one becos an Alpha.
“Either an Oga that gets abandoned from the pack, but either way, they are part or once was part of the sa pack, or the second…”
Kai finished the answer for him.
“Or soone from the sa pack to begin with. No matter what, at so point and ti, there will be two Alphas, so getting rid of one, at so point, one of your own will beco an Alpha as well…”
Gary was slightly in shock by this. Even if they got rid of Lupus, did that an that soone in the Howlers would beco an Alpha and then history would need to repeat itself again?
Gary couldn’t imagine going against anyone in his pack, or them conforming to so destiny.
“The amount of ti between a new Alpha coming it can be long or it can be extrely short; there is no way to exactly tell,” Dean said. “It could be many years, maybe even skip generations before such a thing happens. So it might not be sothing you have to worry about.”
Once again, Dean went into a type of silence, taking a break from telling his story, and that’s when, of all people, Xin had figured it out as she looked into his heavy eyes.
“It happened to you, right… soone you knew beca an Alpha?” Xin said.
Gary shook his head in confusion. Gary’s father wasn’t an Alpha; Gary was an Alpha, and so was Lupus. As he said before, it was impossible for there to be three Alphas.
“You are right, young lady, I was once a Beta wolf, part of the pack that lived in Ruin City, and I was under Lupus, and then, I too had beco an Alpha werewolf, , the younger brother.”
