Lupus could feel the structural failure within his own grip; the shield that had protected him so far was cracking. He had ticulously crafted this defense out of the very best crystals that had been provided to him by Marcus, but it was becoming painfully clear that when facing against a monster of this terrifying caliber, even the finest craftsmanship wasn't going to be enough.

Regardless of the damage to his equipnt, Lupus knew he couldn't just stay huddled behind the shield forever. He couldn't let his story end as a cornered prey.

“I…” Lupus grunted, his voice tight as he absorbed another bone-jarring punch through the shield. He started to tense every muscle in his body, the Qi flowing through him like a river of fire. “I am not just a regular Werewolf! I am the Alpha of my pack!”

Right after blocking one particularly large hit that nearly shattered the remaining surface of the tal, Lupus made a move that Unzoku didn't expect. He threw the shield to his side, letting it clatter away. Blood was still partly dripping out of his mouth, painting his fur a deep crimson, but he didn't flinch. Instead, he reached out and caught both of Unzoku’s descending fists with his bare hands.

The raw power of the montum was so imnse that it forced Lupus’s elbows to crash into the ground beneath him, the stone shattering under the weight. But, gritting his teeth until they threatened to crack, Lupus pushed them back off the ground. He dug his feet in and began pushing Unzoku back, inch by agonizing inch.

“You said you are under no one…” Lupus said, his eyes locked. “You created these monsters that run around everywhere, spreading madness, and you try to force soone like to do your bidding… I know the reason. I know the answer now.

“It’s because you also have no one by your side to help you with your goals! You are alone in this world, Unzoku. Who cares if you're the only one that survives? Is that really a world worth living in!”

As he shouted his defiance, a deep, biting ice started to co out of Lupus’s hands. The frost began freezing the knuckles of Unzoku where they were joined in the struggle. Slowly, the ice began moving further and further, creeping up his wrists and beyond, seeking to numb the ancient power flowing through his veins.

“I fight for the sake of the entire pack! I fight for the sake of all of us Werewolves!” Lupus shouted as he tried to draw even more energy from his core. But even as he pushed, he knew deep down that just pushing alone wasn't going to be enough to fully overpower Unzoku.

However, the surge of effort managed to create just enough space between the two of them. Lupus slamd his foot onto the ground with a rhythmic thud. An ice pillar appeared instantly from the floor, driving upward with the force of a spear and digging into Unzoku’s stomach.

When the frozen pillar crashed into his body, the ice simply broke into a thousand shards. That was how tough Unzoku’s body was, and how much power was exuding from it right now. But the strike gave Lupus just the slight mont he needed. He kicked Unzoku squarely in the chest, using the recoil to roll out of the way.

He dived through the dust, reaching for his discarded shield, and stood right back up. He faced Unzoku once more, his breathing heavy and ragged.

“You still want to fight? You should have tried to run away when you had the chance!” Unzoku claid, his voice a chorus of dark echoes.

“Haha... as I said, you're truly an idiot,” Lupus said, a dry laugh catching in his throat. “What are you going to do now? You're still going to fight , but your plan already failed the mont you were unable to take control of . So why are you still fighting ? Even if you win, you risk getting heavily injured, and there are those out there who are still willing to fight you.

“If you were confident enough that you could do all of this on your own, then you would have done so from the beginning.”

Unzoku smiled, a chilling expression that caused him to tut his teeth together.

“My goal has never been to just get rid of all of you. Your growth aids in what I really want, Lupus. And considering how tough you have been today, I think you're ready... to be consud by to add to my power!”

Lupus was on the move again before Unzoku could finish. He was quickly moving from side to side, a blur of fur and steel, until he had reached where Unzoku was standing. Several energy claw strikes erupted from his fingertips, almost creating a vortex of energy strikes that swirled around his opponent. The vortex was biting and cold, a miniature blizzard of razor-sharp Qi.

As the strikes hit Unzoku’s body, they were spearing ice around his entire fra, trying to lock him in a frozen tomb. Unzoku was swinging his arms, breaking parts of the attacks with his brute strength, but the tornado of claws was relentless. Breaking right through the storm, however, was Unzoku. He pushed forward, and the edge of his own aura seed to ripple with a new strength.

Unzoku opened up his hands and the red mist seed to gather in his palms, almost condensing into a solid mass of energy. He threw it out into the air. Without even reaching Lupus’s shield, a massive force hit him, a shockwave that sent him flying back and tumbling onto the ground. The vortex of energy claw strikes ended abruptly, having done next to no damage other than producing so frosted parts on Unzoku’s body.

“This is the end, Lupus.”

“STOP!” a voice shouted out from the distance, cutting through the silence of the ruins.

When Unzoku lifted his head, his eyes narrowed. He could see a rather old man standing around fifty ters from where the battle had taken place.

“The Howlers have been inford, and Gary is on his way here, Unzoku! They are ready to finish you off once and for all!” Galdark said as he stood there, his presence defiant against the dark progenitor.

Lupus, lifting his head up from the dirt, couldn't help but wonder what Galdark was even trying to do. Facing Unzoku alone was suicide, yet the old man stood his ground while knowing full well it was impossible for the Howlers to arrive so soon.
