Rogan’s claws dug into his Luna’s face as their eyes t.
Then, without hesitation, he pulled her close.
Their lips t in a violent, desperate kiss.
Steve’s stomach dropped. His instincts scread what was coming next , sothing irreversible. Rogan was many things, but reckless was not one of them. He had hidden his Luna’s identity for a reason. No one in the pack even knew who she truly was.
He had always been cautious , paranoid, even. A Luna’s white-glowing eyes could give her away, but Rogan had taught his Luna to suppress that trait, to mask her scent, to stay hidden in plain sight. Steve had long suspected there was soone close to Rogan who shared his strength... but not this. He had never imagined that Rogan would use her this way.
The ground beneath Rogan’s feet began to crack.
A surge of raw power tore through the air , thick, suffocating, alive. Rogan’s muscles bulged, veins darkening as if liquid iron flowed through them. His bones snapped and stretched; his fra grew taller and broader until the very earth seed to groan beneath his weight.
The sound was deafening , bones grinding against bones, flesh tearing and reforming.
Within seconds, Rogan had beco a giant. His form towered over the others like a god of war , a monstrous werewolf wrapped in armor of living bone. Segnts of skeletal plating jutted from his shoulders, chest, and legs, glistening like ivory blades under the sun.
And on his shoulder stood his Luna, her transformation complete. Her fur shimred white, her eyes glowing like small moons.
Steve’s heart sank. “No...”
Jack, however, just exhaled, rolling his shoulders. “I have a feeling,” he muttered, “that this just got a lot harder than it was a few seconds ago.” His golden armor glinted as he raised his gaze toward the creature. “Still... that body of his , it’s unnatural. How does sothing like that even exist?”
Steve’s thoughts turned grim.
He rembered the story Rogan had once told , of the ti their pack was almost wiped out. They’d been ambushed by a colossal beast, a creature so strange and terrifying that even the elders refused to na it. A mammoth-like monster with bones jutting out of its flesh, a living fortress of white armor. It had taken the entire pack , and nearly cost their lives , to bring it down.
But Rogan had survived.
And afterward... he had changed.
‘He must have absorbed sothing from that creature,’ Steve thought. ‘He always believed eating beast crystals strengthened a werewolf’s body. But if the creature was Demon Tier...’
His eyes widened as realization hit him.
‘Then that’s it. That’s where his power , and his curse , ca from. He didn’t forge a weapon or armor from the beast like Jack would’ve. He consud it.’
He glanced at Jack. ‘Maybe that’s why Jack never did the sa. The idea of having a demon tier weapon seems too good to give up..’
Rogan roared, and the sound ripped through the mountain. Dust and rock crumbled from the cliffside. Then, without warning, his enormous arm ca crashing down.
The strike hit the ground like a teor.
The entire plateau quaked. Stone split apart in massive cracks, spreading like lightning across the ground. Hos and shelters carved into the mountain walls began to crumble, collapsing into the fissures.
Werewolves scread as they transford, leaping for safety. The ones who were too slow vanished into the earth.
Jack and Steve barely dodged, the ground exploding beside them.
Before they could recover, a white spear of light shot through the air , thrown by the Luna perched on Rogan’s shoulder. The weapon whistled like thunder as it descended.
“Jack, move!” Steve shouted.
But instead of dodging, Steve threw himself in front of the blow. The spear hit his chest and detonated, releasing a burst of blinding white energy. The force cracked the ground beneath his feet and engulfed him in light.
When it faded, Steve was still standing , but he couldn’t move.
His muscles strained uselessly. His legs felt like they were fused to the rock.
“What... what is this?” he growled.
He looked down , the light from the spear had crawled across the ground like roots, locking him in place with glowing bindings.
Rogan raised his massive, bone-plated arm again.
A shadow fell over both of them.
Jack turned his head. The sheer size of Rogan’s fist blocked out the sky.
“Damn it,” Jack muttered. “I thought that spear was going to pull so kind of trick , but I didn’t think it’d paralyze you. So much for that shield of yours, huh?”
He reached behind his back. With one smooth motion, he slid his great sword back into its strap and grabbed the massive warhamr. “I guess,” Jack said, lifting the weapon with both hands, “I’m going to have to match power with power.”
Steve saw it, the hamr. From what he could tell out of all of the weapons that were in the forgery, this one was of the demon tier level. Although Rogan might have consud a demon tier beast to get this strong, Jack was using sothing of equal strength.
No, there was a good chance that it was even stronger. It had the forging of the dwarves mixed with that of Werewolves. There was one thing that Steve noted the whole ti he was by Jack’s side, that for a second he wasn’t afraid.
He raised the hamr high above his head.
The runes along its surface blazed to life, glowing a fierce electric blue. The air trembled as energy built within it , like thunder caged in steel.
Jack’s eyes narrowed, his voice low and certain.
“Let’s see how your bones handle this.”
