All three of them transford.

Bones cracked, muscles swelled, and fur rippled across their bodies as Gary, Kai, and Lupus gave in to their Werewolf forms. They had realized quickly that they wouldn’t be able to bring down the beast without them. Their elental powers were muted here, their strength restrained as if the world itself was limiting them.

Frustration burned inside them. In their real world, they would never have needed to transform to deal with sothing like this. The three of them together could have crushed the monster with ease. But here, inside this strange space, they had no choice. If they wanted to win, they had to unleash their true selves.

The beast bellowed, stomping the earth as its jagged tusks cut grooves into the dirt. Its eyes, one still glistening and the other beginning to cloud with blood, locked on the Werewolves. It lowered its massive head and charged.

The three Howlers moved at once. Their bodies blurred with speed, their claws gleaming as they scattered into different positions around the monster.

Lupus dove low, his claws tearing beneath the beast’s neck. He raked deep, ripping through the thick hide until blood gushed from the wound. At the sa ti, Kai leapt upward and slashed across the top of its head, one claw tearing through the creature’s eye. It shrieked, staggering from the pain.

Gary moved just as fast, slicing into the opposite side of the beast’s neck. Blood sprayed in dark arcs as the three wolves sprinted past, skidding to a stop behind it.

The beast whirled with surprising speed, blood dripping from its wounds, one eye sealed shut and its body heaving with rage. It scraped its tusks against the ground, readying to charge again.

But before it could, a glowing sphere of fla shot from the side.

BOOM!

The fireball exploded against the beast’s skull, flas licking across its thick hide. The monster roared, thrashing as smoke curled upward. Before it could recover, a second blast ca, this one icy blue. The ball of frost crashed against its leg, encasing it in a sheet of jagged ice. The beast froze mid-step, its foot trapped, but with one violent shake the ice shattered into shards.

Gary blinked in confusion. “Elental powers? Here?”

Kai’s sharp eyes flicked to the side. Two won stood at the edge of the battlefield, their arms stretched out. Fire and frost conjured from their bare hands, forming again as if summoned from thin air.

“That doesn’t look like an Altered ability,” Kai muttered. His wolf eyes narrowed. “It almost looks like... raw magic.”

“You really think now is the ti to talk about that?” Lupus growled. His claws dug into the dirt as he charged once again.

The won’s spells were powerful, yes, but not enough. Their flas scorched and their ice froze, yet the monster’s hide was too thick. Even with the adventurers and these strange mages supporting them, they would never have managed to kill the beast alone.

The creature swung its massive head, tusks glinting like blades. They arced toward Lupus with deadly force.

He didn’t flinch. He lunged forward, hands snapping up to grab each tusk. His claws sank into the bone, anchoring him in place. Muscles bulged and veins strained across his arms as he roared, halting the beast’s charge by sheer strength. The monster writhed, but Lupus held fast, locking its head still.

“NOW!” he bellowed.

Above him, two shadows leapt high into the air.

Gary and Kai ca crashing down together, their arms raised. With every ounce of their strength, they swung. Their claws smashed into the beast’s skull, their combined force like thunder striking stone.

CRACK!

The bone splintered beneath their blow. Lupus released at the perfect mont, springing back as the beast’s legs gave out. Its massive head slamd into the dirt, its body crumpling after it.

The ground shook as blood pooled beneath its broken skull.

For a mont, silence held the village.

Then the cries erupted.

“They did it!” soone scread.

“They killed the beast!” another shouted.

The villagers poured from their hos, rushing toward the square. Fear and awe mingled in their wide eyes as they stared at the three wolves standing tall over the carcass. The adventurers lowered their weapons, relief and disbelief mixing across their faces.

Gary, Kai, and Lupus exchanged looks. They could feel the stares burning into them.

Without a word, they shifted back into their human forms. Their fur shrank, claws faded, and their bodies returned to their natural states.

Better to avoid scaring the villagers any further. These people, living in wooden huts with swords and spears, might not have ever even heard of Altereds. To them, Werewolves could just as easily be seen as monsters.

Gary exhaled slowly.

“I wonder...” Lupus’s voice broke through his thoughts. The man was already eyeing the beast’s corpse. “If we ate the beast’s crystal, maybe we’d grow stronger. Maybe our powers wouldn’t be limited here.”

Kai gave him a flat stare. “And you want to do that in front of them? Right here? Please, Lupus, be my guest. Go ahead and rip into the thing while these villagers watch. I’d love to see how they react when you eat like an animal. Maybe they’ll think you’re the beast.”

Lupus smirked but said nothing.

Caram, his tunic bloodied and sweat dripping from his brow, ran toward them. Behind him, the other adventurers hurried to check on the wounded, comforting villagers and ensuring no one else had been hard.

“You three...” Caram gasped, his eyes shining. “You were amazing. I was terrified when that high-tier beast entered the village. None of us, not even our mages, could stop it. But you, you crushed it like it was nothing.”

He grinned, his voice warm with admiration. “I should have expected no less. You should have told sooner. No wonder you made it through the plains unhard. Being Werewolves...”

Gary froze. His throat went dry, his mind stuttering.

“What?” he choked, nearly gagging on his own saliva.

Caram had spoken so casually, without fear, without accusation. He hadn’t mistaken them for Altereds. He hadn’t looked at them with terror. He had called them what they were,

Werewolves.
