Chapter 1482: Pinned by the Pack

The rainfall had finally co to a stop. The steady drumming that had echoed across the battlefield was gone, leaving behind only the wet slap of water pooling across the uneven ground. Puddles shimred faintly in the faint light, spreading in veins and rivulets across the broken terrain.

For the mbers of White Rose who were watching from a distance, the sudden halt of the storm sent a ripple of unease through their ranks. They exchanged quick, tense glances.

“The rain’s stopped,” one of them muttered.

“Does that an…?” another whispered.

They all shared the sa thought. Without the rainfall, surely Don’s strength would diminish. His elental powers ca from the water around him. If the skies no longer poured their endless supply, was his advantage gone?

For a heartbeat, it seed their worry might be justified.

But they were wrong.

Don hadn’t stopped to hesitate. Rather than focusing on keeping the rain falling endlessly, as he had been doing before, he had shifted his approach entirely. He had been preparing for this.

While Gary and Kai clashed head-to-head, Don had quietly gathered every droplet, every puddle, every trace of water left behind by the storm. He had been manipulating it from the mont the two Alphas crossed paths. Now, that water circled the battlefield like a predator closing in on its prey.

Kai stood in the center, and the ground beneath him glistened with liquid.

With a roar of effort, Don raised both hands. The water surged upward, rising in thick spiraling streams that twisted into a vortex. The swirling current wrapped around Kai, enclosing him in a prison of liquid force.

The vortex spun faster and faster, moving in a relentless circle. The speed was staggering, every droplet becoming a weapon. Each fragnt of water slamd into Kai’s body with the force of a heavy punch, striking him again and again from every angle.

To reach out against it was to be battered by a thousand fists at once. Even Kai, in his frenzied Alpha form, could not simply push through without consequence.

Still, Don knew this wouldn’t be enough to hold him. Not for long. He had seen it already , Kai was relentless, adaptable, constantly learning from every exchange. Don gritted his teeth. He’ll figure out a way out of this. He always does.

And already, the wolf was trying.

Kai’s mouth opened, and with a guttural growl he unleashed his elental power. Frosty air blasted outward, an icy breath so cold it glittered white as it rushed against the swirling water. Ice began to form instantly, snapping across the vortex like spreading veins.

But Don was prepared.

The water spun at such a high speed that the frozen patches shattered the mont they ford, broken apart by the sheer force of the spinning current. The shards cracked, splintered, and lted back into the flow before Kai could expand the freezing further.

“Not this ti,” Don muttered under his breath.

Then, louder, he shouted toward the other fighter.

“Hey, greenhead!” Don’s voice rang across the battlefield, cutting through the roar of the water. “That first move you did with the hamr , the one where you made that massive claw! If you can do that again, but smaller, more focused, we can pin him down. That’s the goal, right? Capture him, not kill him!”

Gary’s eyes widened, impressed despite himself. Don hadn’t been briefed, hadn’t been told the plan, yet he had already pieced together the nature of Gary’s power. He had only arrived at the fight with Austin toward the end, and still, he understood.

Don pressed on, his words urgent.

“That aura surrounding you , it’s more than just a glow! It’s like an elent of its own, a force you can shape. Before, you used it to make a giant claw. That’s because you’re used to it, right? It mimics the skills of your Altered form. But you’re not limited to that! If you focus, you can condense it into any shape you want!”

Gary’s grip tightened on the warhamr.

“Thankfully you’re holding a hamr already,” Don continued. “That gives you a reference. Think about its shape , one side flat, heavy, perfect for pinning. Imagine that, and press this beast down where he belongs!”

From the outside, Don could already see it happening. Parts of the vortex were beginning to freeze solid again despite his efforts. Kai’s persistence was terrifying. He was evolving in the middle of the fight, adjusting, learning. The longer this battle dragged on, the more dangerous he beca.

Gary knew it too. They couldn’t waste ti. This was their shot.

Planting his feet, Gary bent his knees, then exploded upward with imnse force. The hamr thrumd in his hands, the aura burning brighter as he soared into the air.

High above the battlefield, he gripped the weapon with both hands, raising it over his head. He focused, forcing himself to picture the strike as clearly as possible. The claw-shaped aura he had summoned before. The sensation of his other skills. The feel of channeling power into precise shapes.

The aura responded.

It surged outward from the hamr, flaring into the shape Gary envisioned. The glowing green energy spread, layering over the hamr and expanding. It grew broader, heavier, forming a massive flat surface , just as Don had suggested.

Gary’s teeth clenched. His eyes locked onto Kai.

I know you’re strong, Kai. I know you’ll survive this. But this is what I have to do!

He swung.

The aura-empowered hamr ca crashing down, descending like the fist of the heavens.

Below, Don didn’t let up. He forced the vortex to spin even faster, even as nearly all of it froze over. He knew this was it. Their one chance.

The strike landed.

The hamr shattered through the ice, smashing it apart as though it were brittle glass. It plowed downward, carrying the full weight of the aura, the hamr, and Gary’s strength with it.

It struck Kai squarely in his two-legged werewolf form, the impact slamming him into the earth. The ground cracked violently, fragnts of stone exploding upward as his body was crushed against the floor.

The aura spread flat, pressing downward, pinning Kai’s struggling body to the ground. The energy held him there, heavy and immovable, locking him in place despite his thrashing.

“NOW, MARIE!” Gary roared with everything he had.

She was already moving.

Marie burst forward, her body shining with the light of her Luna form. She boosted herself with all the power she could muster, sprinting across the ruined battlefield in an instant.

The mont Gary lifted the hamr and released the aura, Marie leapt. Her arms wrapped around the injured Kai, her lunar glow tightening like chains.

Her voice broke as she cried out, her body straining to hold the furious Alpha still.

“Kai… you’ve helped enough!”
