Chapter 1363: Learning Qi (Part 2)

A wave of mixed emotions overwheld Gary as he stared at Xin.

Just monts ago, he’d been over the moon, thrilled that he had finally managed to control his hand, preventing it from transforming.

He had been working on it nonstop, every spare second the day before, and even this very morning.

But now, that happiness was dashed away. He had just witnessed Xin manage the sa feat, in re seconds.

“How was she able to do it so easily? Is it because of her amount of Qi? Is she just that talented… or am I just bad?” Gary asked aloud, frustration creeping into his voice.

Innu was surprised as well. He rembered how long it had taken everyone else to learn Qi back when they were training with the Altered Hunters.

The basics of Qi? Sure, that part could be picked up relatively quickly. But mastering it, growing it, refining it, and using it well in combat, that was an entirely different story.

Until now, Innu had assud Gary’s difficulty was due to his unique Werewolf structure. But after seeing Xin’s success, he realized that wasn’t the case at all.

“Wait, let’s see if you can use it properly,” Innu suggested. He glanced around and picked up a thick log lying nearby.

He had brought several with him, this was how he had trained with Qi. He’d expected to work on this with Gary today, not with Xin first.

Spinning the log a few tis in his hands, Innu prepared the next test.

“Focus your Qi into your hand, just like you did before,” Innu instructed. “And then punch this, and break it.”

He offered no further explanation and casually tossed the log into the air.

Since it hadn’t been long since Xin had gotten the feeling down, she was able to gather the energy again with ease.

Her arm remained untransford as she stepped forward and, throwing out a powerful punch, struck the thick log mid-air.

BOOM!

The log exploded, splintering into countless pieces, turning into what looked like fine dust.

Innu waved a hand in front of his face to block the cloud of debris. “I forgot you’ve got the strength of a Werewolf,” he said, chuckling. “You probably could’ve destroyed that log with your bare fist anyway, but I think the results speak for themselves.”

Xin looked down at her own fist. She could tell, she had felt the sa surge of energy from her transformations directed purely into that strike.

There was no doubt about it. It had been a strike powered by Qi.

“If I can add this power while transford… I could create larger, more powerful attacks,” Xin said, her eyes lighting up. “This is what you were trying to do, right, Gary?”

When she turned to look at him, she found Gary lying flat on the ground, arms and legs spread wide.

“He’s been like that for a while now,” Kanu remarked. “Seems your talent has outshone him, and it’s gotten to him.”

Realizing what she had unintentionally done, Xin quickly hurried over to Gary.

“Co on, Gary, you were making really good progress,” she said softly, running her fingers through his hair. “We don’t know why I was able to learn it so quickly.

“Maybe it’s because I haven’t been a Werewolf for very long. Or maybe it’s because you’ve got so much energy, you’re such a strong Werewolf, that it’s harder to control.”

Gary would’ve liked to say her words didn’t affect him, but truthfully, they did. Her gentle tone and reasoning eased so of the sting.

“Hey! If Xin can do it, can I try too? Can we see if I can learn it quickly?” Kevin asked excitedly.

“Ah… maybe not today,” Innu replied, shaking his head. I’m really exhausted. “Besides, if you did manage to learn it fast… I’m not sure how he would react.”

So many different thoughts were swirling through Gary’s head. Was he useless? If he had beco a Werewolf without the System, would he have amounted to anything at all?

Eventually, Gary managed to recover. A few more strokes of Xin’s fingers running through his hair were giving him energy and lifting his spirits.

Gary even asked Xin what the feeling was, what it felt like exactly, hoping he could replicate it.

She explained it far better than Innu had. Gary felt hopeful that with her help, he might make more progress.

When Innu had recovered enough, Gary tried again.

This ti, he managed to fully control one hand. But Innu noticed sothing odd, it seed different from when Xin had done it.

Curious, Innu tried moving the Qi to another part of Gary’s body, sothing as simple as his other hand.

And that’s where the problem appeared.

The entire hand transford. Gary was unable to maintain control over any part of it.

Quickly, they tested the original hand again, and thankfully, Gary was still able to control that one. But the other remained a problem.

“I don’t get it… what does that even an? Why can I only do one arm?” Gary asked, frustrated.

“I have no idea,” Innu admitted. “But it looks like you can control one part, but not the rest of your body. We’ll probably need to keep working on this until you can manage full control. It’s the only way.

“Maybe while you wait, you can try focusing on using Qi on your own, just like Xin did.”

Innu was already tired again. But thankfully, with more practice, he was starting to handle longer training sessions.

As Innu rested, Gary decided to get up and started heading back toward the manor.

“Where are you going?” Innu called out.

“I’m going to clear my head a bit while you recover,” Gary replied. “Besides… I’ve been aning to figure this thing out anyway.”

He glanced down at the dallion around his neck, gripping it lightly.

There were questions he needed answers to, and Tom might be the only one who could help.
