Although it was late at night, it was not a day for resting for Gary and his friends. When the vampire king had stated that tomorrow he would send soone, they had assud he ant today, as it was already early in the morning.
Presumably, soone would co to the Wolf’s Pool Club at night, so they had little ti to prepare, so everyone was busy getting ready.
Gary, for one, had made a call to Tom in the middle of the night, who had only been sleeping for a couple of hours. He didn’t complain much, at least, before agreeing to try and help Austin.
Thankfully, Tom had a lab, and he wasn’t the only one working there. Steadily, Slough had been gaining talent that could work on a number of things, and with them not being one of the larger research institutes, they weren’t hit with the wave of protests like the others.
Not that such a thing would even happen in Slough anyway. For the people cared far too much about Gary and what he had done for them.
In their eyes, he was an Altered, so Slough was one of the few places where they were quite accepting of Altered despite the situation of the rest of the world.
With the help of his workers, they were working on the spraying solution that had worked last ti. This would mask Gary and Kai from the other Werewolves when they entered Ruin City.
The good thing was, the solution itself didn’t stop their sense of sll, so they would be able to spot who was a Werewolf and who wasn’t.
Unless they had so grand great researcher, but Lupus and his group didn’t seem the type to hide away what they were in the first place.
As for the thing that Tom had to deal with himself, it was to work with Austin to make him appear as human as possible.
Having studied Altered for a long ti, he had so idea as to what their masks were picking up on to tell who was one and who wasn’t.
Tom basically knew every difference there was between a human and an Altered. The main issue was the ti fra.
Unlike Gary and Austin, Tom was a regular human, so the lack of sleep and having to work through the night weren’t the easiest things for him to do.
For Gary, he had decided to send a ssage out to a particular person and had told them to et in front of Westbridge School.
It didn’t take long till he saw the grey ash-haired woman appear.
“You can go ho, Crowley, I’m safe,” Xin said, staring up at the sky. Monts later, and a large bird-like creature was seen flying away.
“He takes his job very seriously, even at this ti of night, he’s been following . I didn’t even ssage him, he was just already up,” Xin explained.
Gary was happy to know that she was being looked over. With her current power, she practically had already lost all of her Altered powers, so if soone had attacked her, if the vampires had chosen her as one of the targets in this situation, she wouldn’t have been able to do anything.
Gary and Xin had walked around the school path. He was on autopilot, so he ended up walking to his old neighborhood, which was nothing like it was before.
There weren’t really any unsafe areas of Slough like there were before. As they walked, Gary explained what had happened and the current situation.
“All this stuff, despite knowing everything, it’s all still kinda crazy to ,” Xin laughed. “But it’s a good thing you got it resolved, but I see now, you’re leaving tomorrow and you’re going to be doing sothing incredibly dangerous?”
“Right, but if it works out, we won’t have to fight against Lupus. I was even thinking that we don’t even have to turn you, Xin. If you want, we can… wait to see how this plays out.”
“But we can’t wait, Gary,” Xin replied. “You explained it already, its effect is a one-ti thing. If we miss this mont, then it can never happen again. If it doesn’t work out, then all of us will have to go against Lupus and his group. We need this reassurance, and I’m okay, even if going through it ans nothing, I would rather be a part of it,” Xin said.
Before eting with Xin, Gary had confird she had completely lost her powers, so now was the ti for the second bite.
In a way, it was good timing, as it was just before he was to leave, so it really was now or never.
“Tom got more details from my father, he said in so of the experints it took so ti before they would turn, so this might not be an instant thing.”
Xin held out her arm like the ti before, and reluctantly, Gary sunk his teeth in. The Alpha Bite now had a 99.9 percent chance of working. There was still a little worry, but nothing compared to before.
When a few monts passed with Xin still standing, he felt relief.
“I don’t feel any different,” Xin said. “I guess like you said, it might take a while. I’ll have Tom and Marie on standby, they’ve been through this, so they can help out if anything happens. You don’t have to worry about , Gary. You do what you need to do… and Gary, don’t you dare die on . I haven’t done all this just so you can disappear.”
The two held hands for a mont and gave each other a kiss goodbye. It still felt awkward to Gary, but he was getting used to it. It was good that Xin seed comfortable with being the initiator.
With that, Gary waved her goodbye, as there was one thing he needed to do before leaving.
“Let’s upgrade my class and see what it can do.”
