Chapter 99- Grandmother (Part 1)
*A week later*
Several days passed since the incident that happened in the forest. Surprisingly, everything seed to have ended rather underwhelmingly. There were no major repercussions for the fight between Geralt and the Vampire Noble, and for so reason, no trace of the vampire was found again, even after a thorough search of the entire forest by the Vaylor clan.
It was like the earth had opened up and swallowed him, leaving no trace behind. Nobody understood how or why that even happened. But, with so little to work with, they assud he ran back to his world through so sort of teleportation trick that they didn’t know.
The few days after were peaceful and quiet; nothing out of the ordinary happened for a long while, which, for Elio, raised many red flags.
He spent the ti studying, training, spending ti with Fiona and lissa, and just living his life one step at a ti. He was having good progress in everything, and he felt quite satisfied with where he was.
Every day felt like a new challenge, and he was succeeding in all these challenges with flying colors. He also passed the academic tests, and he was certain he was going to ace them. His mory had improved a lot, which helped him retain information better and give him a way easier ti morizing everything.
At the sa ti, the attention on him kept increasing day by day. Elio noticed that he was starting to beco a sort of celebrity in school. Not long after his first day back at school, he was approached by a girl and got his first-ever confession.
Elio was asked out on a date.
Naturally, it was a historical mont for Elio. He didn’t even comprehend how that happened. Not that long ago, this idea alone sounded like a joke, and yet here he was, receiving a clear desire from a girl.
Still... Elio turned her down. Had it been any other situation, Elio would’ve accepted. But his life was far too abnormal for him to think about dating. He cannot drag any innocent girls into this world.
So, as ironic as it was, even when he gained the ability to get so interest, he still wasn’t able to get a girlfriend.
However, after that first girl, weirdly enough, no other girl approached him ever again, even though he was getting more and more attention by the day. None of these girls seed interested in approaching him, so he assud they just didn’t find him that interesting.
All in all, life was going smoothly for Elio, but he knew that was rely the calm before the storm. Soon enough, things will get very hectic very quickly, and he has to be ready for that as fast as possible.
Unbeknownst to him, the trigger for such things ca from the least side he expected.

"Hnnnnng, I’m so tired..." Elio stretched his limbs on the sofa as he wiped his eyes.
"Go ahead and take a shower first," Fiona said as she read her book next to him. The TV had a random channel on it, on a very low volu, giving a nice background noise. The two were relaxing after a long day, sothing they started doing more often when they started living together.
"Yeah, I will in a mont. What about you?"
"I will still be awake for a while," Fiona replied.
"Hmmm, I never asked this before, but how many hours a day do you sleep, Fiona?" Elio asked with a curious tone.
"It depends on the day. But, usually one to two hours." She said. "My body keeps needing less and less sleep ti as I grow stronger."
"Wow. I really can’t fathom that. Not needing sleep at all." Elio said. "It will really change as a person."
"It does. But most Vampire Hunters still sleep at night just to keep their humanity intact. The sa way for food and water, we will never need them at so point, but we will still consu them because we like them."
At that level, the line between being a monster and a human blurs, and everything mixes. Many try desperately to remain the sa humans they once knew, while others embrace it fully.
"Hm..." Elio humd as he stared ahead, falling into deep thought about that kind of future. ’I don’t think I want to beco sothing other than a human. As much as we are a flawed and cruel race of creatures, it is still who I am... I don’t want to lose that. Not fully, at least.’
*RING* *RING* *RING*
At that mont, as he was contemplating, Elio flinched as he felt his phone vibrate. Picking it up, he raised an eyebrow.
"Who is it?" Fiona asked curiously, her eyes growing a bit colder. For a second, she thought she might have forgotten one of the girls, and she was able to hand her number to Elio.
"It’s my grandma. Why is she calling right now of all tis?" He rubbed his head.
"Oh? You should answer. It could be an ergency." Fiona said as all her hostility vanished.
"Hello?" Picking up the call, he heard a familiar voice. "Elio, you little brat, where are you?! I ca to your apartent and you weren’t there!"
"Wait, what?! You’re here, Grandma?!" Elio blurted out. "Why didn’t you tell you were coming?!"
"Eh, should I ask your highness when I co to visit my grandson? Get your ass over here, I’m not going to wait outside for so damn long!"
Then, she hung up the call.
"She arrived?"
"Yeah..." Elio muttered. "She said she was going to visit soon, but never specified when. That lady... sigh."
"Well, let’s go then," Fiona said as she stood up.
"I’m sorry, Fiona. I didn’t know she was..."
"Don’t worry about it. I’m happy to finally et her." She replied. "Besides, she ca around at the right ti; we have a lot to talk about."
"... Fiona..."
’She’s truly the best friend ever.’ He smiled.
With that, the two imdiately put on their clothes and left the house. The car was already waiting downstairs sohow. Alfred was very quick, almost unnaturally so.
Heading down to Elio’s old apartnt, they arrived a few minutes later.
"Hm? Where is she?" Elio muttered. "She isn’t waiting outside."
There was no trace of his grandmother outside the apartnt complex. So, they walked inside. Surprisingly, she wasn’t standing in front of Elio’s door either.
"..."
"Where is she? She’s sothing else, I swear." Elio rubbed his face.
"You’re quite funny, miss! So, that was what my brat of a grandson was doing the entire ti!"
"He is such a sweet kid."
The two suddenly heard laughter coming from the apartnt right next to Elio’s.
’Don’t tell .’ Elio’s eyes widened slightly. Looking at Fiona, she nodded back at him. So, he knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, it opened.
"Oh! If it isn’t my dear Elio! Hiii, good evening~" lissa opened the door and gave him a tight hug. "I just ca across your grandmother by coincidence, so I invited her inside. I didn’t want her to wait in the cold for you."
"..." Elio blinked. "Uuuuh, yeah, t-thank you for that, lissa. I really ap-"
"Where are you, Elio?"
At that mont, another person erged from the room. An older lady who looked in her late 50s appeared before them. She stared at Elio, and he stared back at her before he smiled widely.
"Grandma!"
"... What the hell happened to you?!"
