91 Spirit, Soul, and Shadow (1)

Actually, I had no idea what they ant by shadow. But, from the way he told , it must not be sothing good.

“We have followed the source. Apparently it’s the old man’s friend. They have been trying to attack Milady because they knew about your power.” The man said calmly.

After hearing it, I could vaguely guess what shadow was.

Shadow was the astral entity that was used to harm people. It could be a form of curse if one couldn’t see them, but it could be an eternal haunting to those who could see them, because they would never co in their beautiful form.

No, scratch that, they didn’t have beautiful form. They were the embodint of wicked, sin, and evil beings who used their negative aura to create bad things towards their victims.

I knew this kind of things more or less because it was not sothing new from where I ca from nor where I was studying at.

These shadows could do various missions, from haunting a person until killing the person. Of course, the master should pay for it, too. The more dangerous the task, the more expensive the master would pay too. For example, to kill soone, they needed to prepare human blood as the paynt.

There were also so of these shadows who were hired to make a person rich. Through a vessel like statue or any other items, they would ask for paynt. For example, when soone asked for wealth and power, this person might need to sacrifice human’s life.

The life of innocent children who got kidnapped while playing around, or worse, their own children or family mber.

.....

Those who were used in these kinds of activity, either served as a tool for human’s greed or as curse for black-hearted humans, were called Shadow for they didn’t have their true forms anymore, and their originally transparent and grey soul turned dark and black.

There was nothing good upon agreeing a deal with them.

“Where is Siji?”

“In the captive room.” Probably torturing the old man, I know.

“Tell him to co here now.” I pushed the cover from my body and got down from the bed. I really needed to take a shower, but I decided to finish the problem that was coming at .

While I was checking on the clothes my friend brought for , I felt Siji’s aura coming near and stopped behind .

“Milady.” He started. “Do you need ?”

“Tell , Siji, you’ve seen the shadows being sent to , right? What do you think?” I turned my body until I was face to face with him.

He was beaming with smile as if what I’ve been asking him was a low-leveled question and not more than just a joke to him. “A child play.” He said, his voice was laced with confidence.

Siji was not an old man. He was like an adult man in his thirties, even older than Sanji. He was full of vigor and his eyes still sparked with mischievousness sotis. I had been wondering what he used to be when he was alive. He had the sa aura of those deceased people, ant that he used to be a human, too. How did he end up being the supervisor of this army?

“So, can I trust this child play to you?” I arched my eyebrows.

“Of course, Milady.” He bowed down then disappeared. He must have gone to take care of those shadows, right?

After he left, I went to the bathroom to clean myself. I spent the ti under the warm water to think about so things. The image of Senior Rizal laying in his pool of blood hit and out of nowhere, I started crying.

It was strange. I didn’t cry when I saw him died. Why now?

I felt as if my heart was being squeezed. It was too painful to ignore. I choke on my sobs as I finally realized the reason I cried.

It was because of guilt. If only I could learn about my power a bit earlier, I might still be able to save him. If only I didn’t postpone looking for Uncle Ben, I might have the solution to help him. He might still be alive if only I were one step faster.

All of those possibilities crossed my mind, broke my heart into pieces. I wanted to apologize, but he was not here anymore. Then, I rembered the last image I stored inside my mind before he went.

That smile and that light. He must be in a good place, right?

I managed to save his soul from being consu by that evil being, right? He didn’t have to go through all the pain over and over again just like the other sacrifices, right?

I cald myself before I stepped out from the bathroom. My eyes were still a bit puffy but I felt a bit better. I couldn’t save his physical body, but at least I managed to save his soul. I repeated that sentence in my head to help calm down. Facing myself in the mirror, I promised myself not to hesitate when it ca to similar matters.

For now, let’s sleep again.

I crawled back under the cover, but after sleeping for a whole day, I couldn’t fall asleep. As a result, I was just staring at the ceiling blankly.

“Milady.” Another call ca. “There is a spirit outside trying to get in.” My ears perked when I heard it.

Spirit? What does it an this ti?

“Let go of ! I know her! Who are you guys, actually? I didn’t see her for hours and now you guys are here blocking my way! Let through!” I heard a shout on the other side of the door.

Tom!

I opened my eyes wide and jumped from the bed. “Let him in!” I shouted hastily. The fact that Sanji or Senior Hani could hear was out of my mind. I only knew I wanted Tom to be here.

The shouts stopped and a second later, a transparent body shot at , embracing in a tight hold.

Wait, embracing ?

I pushed his body at the speed of light and looked at him with wide eyes.
