Chapter 322

"Get off ," the kid shouted angrily as he tried pushing Van away, but the nerdy kid wasn’t about to be easily taken down.

"Take that! And that! And that!"

With all the strength in his scrawny body, Van was bashing his fist into the boy’s face and even pulling at his hair.

"Aaaah! My hair! My hair! It hurts."

Van continued pulling on it while Ray managed to roll to the side, avoiding the stomp from the other kid before lunging forward and tackling the kid to the ground.

Punching the boy with all his might, his second strike was blocked as the kid pushed Ray, sending him crashing to the dirt before he jumped atop him and began raining slaps on the boy.

Gritting his teeth, Ray managed to kick the boy off before rolling on top of him, pulling at his hair and delivering heavy hits to the boy’s face.

"Aaaaaah!" Drax lunged forward and tackled Ray off his friend’s body.

The boy beneath Van’s body managed to overpower him, sending him crashing onto his backside.

"Ouch...."

"You will pay for that," the boy cried out as he jumped onto Van and began slapping and punching him continuously.

With Drax now back in the fight, Ray was overpowered, getting stomped and kicked so much that trickles of blood could be seen rolling down his nose.

"Ohoy~! What is going on there?!"

A loud shout cut through the air.

Unfortunately, the kids were too deep in their brawl to even notice that a mber of the Iron Corps had already co into the corner where the chaos was happening.

Grabbing a hold of the foot of one of his attackers, Ray pushed the boy away, sending him crashing onto his backside before getting punished with a sharp kick to his chin.

"Ack...."

Drax lifted his foot, about to slam it into Ray, when his shoulder was grabbed and he was roughly pulled around to face the Iron Corps mber glaring at him.

"What are you doing?!"

"Let GO!" Drax roared, about to turn around and continue dealing with Ray, only for the man to slam his knuckle down onto the boy’s head.

The sound was so loud that the others froze mid-motion, turning around to see Drax clutching his head in pain.

He was so close to tears that droplets were already beginning to roll down his cheeks.

"I-I-I will report you to my father.... waaaaah!"

Ray winced as he slowly rose, but he couldn’t help but burst into a loud chuckle at Drax’s cries of pain.

"Yes. Let’s go to your father. I will make sure you are punished for this."

"Co on. Let’s get away from here!" The two lackeys quickly bolted away while Drax was held firmly by the ear and dragged out of the alleyway.

Speaking over his shoulder, the guard called out,

"The two of you. Go back ho now!"

And with that, Drax was dragged out of the alley, leaving Ray and Van wincing in imnse pain.

Luckily, Ray wasn’t too heavily injured, and he managed to drag his body off the ground while Van was sobbing repeatedly.

Staggering toward Van, he stood over the boy and then held out his hand.

"Co on. Let’s leave," Ray called out.

Looking up, Van managed to clear his teary vision.

"Wh-Why aren’t you in pain? Yo-You are injured."

Ray smiled and gave him a thumbs up.

"Why should I cry? If I do, doesn’t that make weak? n don’t cry. Ha!"

’Ow. Ow. Ow. Don’t laugh, fool.’

Van looked at the boy over and over, then stared at the outstretched hand.

Smiling, he nodded and wiped his face clean before placing his own hand over Ray’s, who gently pulled him up.

They wrapped their arms around each other’s shoulders and began slowly limping out of the alley.

"By the way, thank you for helping . You didn’t have to, yet you put your body at risk."

Ray smiled and shook his head.

"Nah. It was nothing. I’m sure Drax has it worse."

Van, recalling how his bully was hit in the nether region, suddenly burst out chuckling.

The chuckle slowly turned into full-blown laughter between the two as they led themselves out of the alleyway.

"Ow. Ow. Ow," they both scread in pain as the laughter shook their bruised bodies.

.....

"And from there, we beca the best of friends, with Ray always pulling through for whenever I was in trouble," Van smiled as he finished recalling the events of the past to the others in the cave.

They had all been listening attentively, and even Trisha, who didn’t want to act interested, sat upright as if she were enchanted by the story.

"Man... that was one heck of a etup," Kai laughed loudly, trying to imagine how Ray’s face looked after being beat up massively.

"Yeah. After we beca friends, it was a shock to everybody, and at the end of the day, we were nicknad ’The Two Weirdos,’" Van chuckled while rubbing his arm.

"Hpmh. I wonder where Drax even is now," Ray suddenly uttered, his eyes twinkling with mories of the past.

"Yeah. For so reason, after that day, we never saw him in school again. Even his father was nowhere to be found," Van added.

"Probably they relocated," Chloe shrugged.

Then, the cave beca silent for a few monts until Van could be seen stifling a chuckle.

He failed terribly at holding it back before it turned into full-blown laughter.

"What happened?" Kai lifted a brow.

Van was still laughing as he pointed toward Ray, tears welling up in his eyes as he recalled a specific detail.

"I-I-I... Oh my goodness.... Do you guys know? Even in the face of three kids, Ray wasn’t scared.

But that day, when we returned to his house, he literally scread in terror after his mum brought out a belt as she stood like a soldier in front of the door.

She literally beat his ass for losing the goods she sent him and also for getting into a fight. It was so funny. Buhahahaha!"

Ray’s face imdiately reddened like a ripe tomato.

"Bastard! You didn’t have to add that!"
