Chapter 234: All Out
Chapter 232
RIPPPPP—! CHOMP—! CRUNCH—! CHOMP—!
Huff—! Huff—! Huff—! Ripppp—! Chomp—! Crunch—!
The violent sound of flesh being torn apart like a piece of flimsy fabric echoed through the chamber, followed by the continuous, rhythmic chewing of raw tissue.
It sounded like a rabid dog devouring a fresh kill in the wild.
Caster, Kai, Van, and Chloe stared in absolute horror at the scene.
They didn’t know what to make of the carnage unfolding before them.
anwhile, Trish stood entirely unfazed, her face not betraying a single shred of emotion at the visceral sight.
While Kai, Van, and Chloe already knew that Felix was a werewolf, it was another thing entirely to see him devouring a human.
’On second thought, I think being a Vampire is much better than being a werewolf,’ Chloe thought, desperately gulping down the bile that threatened to rise from her throat.
’At least all they do is drink blood and not consu flesh like a beast. Plus... Vampires are much more good-looking, too.’
Caster watched the scene with a lost, haunted expression.
’He—he is like a wolf. This is exactly how my summons eat dead beasts. What is he? What is going on with this entire squad?’
Trish, however, maintained her stoic, indifferent gaze.
’What is he? A simple beast? Or a werewolf like Ray?’ she wondered inwardly, her eyes darting between the eating Felix and Ray, who stood like a sentinel before him.
Throughout the entire process, the Minotaur hadn’t moved an inch.
It chose to remain a silent observer of the chaos, seemingly fascinated by the display.
Bruce, likewise, kept his focus locked on the monster, refusing to take his eyes off the creature for even a second.
The crunching sound stopped instantly.
The cavern dissolved into an eerie silence for several monts.
Then, a shift occurred.
The audible sound of bones shifting and snapping back into place filled the air, causing Bruce to turn his head just in ti to witness Felix’s mangled hands regenerating at an impressive, supernatural rate.
His mouth was stained crimson, and a few stray strips of flesh clung to his features, but he didn’t care.
The injuries, the scars, and the crushing weight of his exhaustion cleared almost instantly.
Crack—! Crack—!
Twisting his head from side to side, Felix produced a series of loud cracks as his body fully rejuvenated.
Jumping to his feet, he stared down at the grim remains of the Aspirant he had just consud.
A small pool of blood, a few bones, and a ager mound of flesh were all that remained.
A somber look crossed his face for a fraction of a second before he steeled himself and shook it off.
Looking at Bruce, who was scanning him from head to toe, the werewolf offered a slight, predatory grin.
"Earlier," Felix began, slowly walking forward to et Bruce at the front.
"... I could pick up the scent of both a human and a werewolf coming from you."
’Werewolf?!’ Caster shouted inwardly, his mind reeling from the revelation.
"But now," Felix continued, his voice dropping an octave,
"I can sll a full-on werewolf aura radiating from you. Sothing is definitely up with my brother, and I intend to find out. But for now..."
Felix stood side by side with Bruce.
Simultaneously, they turned their heads to face the Minotaur, which was now clenching its mace with renewed grip.
"We have a much bigger problem."
’Two of them?’ Trish mused, her eyes narrowing into dangerous slits.
She looked at her own hands for a fleeting mont.
’I need more strength. If werewolves truly exist among us, I fear we will have another crisis like the Aberrants on our hands.’
Craning his neck, Bruce scanned the cavern one last ti before snickering.
"I would appreciate it if you weaklings cleared the stage for us. Don’t interfere, and don’t interrupt. Things are finally about to get serious."
The others exchanged uncertain glances.
Kai took the first step back, followed by another and another.
Finally, he was retreating toward the edge of the cavern, followed by Van and Chloe.
Caster hesitated for a few seconds, unsure of leaving the front line, but ultimately he chose to trust the process and retreated as well.
Only Trish remained, refusing to move an inch as she glared ahead with an icy, unwavering look.
Bruce frowned, his gaze lingering on the girl who refused to move.
"Need a special invitation?"
Trish didn’t offer a verbal reply.
Instead, she simply crossed her arms over her chest and let out a cold sneer.
"I will stand here and watch," she declared, her voice as sharp as a blade. "I will interfere when I deem it worthy to. I do whatever I want."
Bruce’s eyelids fluttered for a second before he narrowed his eyes at her.
’Hm... what a cocky attitude...’
??Now you see how it feels...?? Ray’s voice echoed in the mindscape.
’... I like it. See, dumbass; these are the kinds of people you should be moving with. Especially beautiful ones like these.’
Ray’s mouth hung open in exasperation at the werewolf’s ntal comntary.
??Sigh... I give up. Just deal with the beast for us.??
The others stood about six ters away from the epicenter where the main clash was about to ignite.
They unconsciously pressed themselves against the damp cavern walls, seeking any scrap of cover.
The air crackled with a palpable, unseen tension.
Chloe gripped her bow so tightly her knuckles turned white, silently praying they would all make it out of this alive.
Kai, anwhile, turned his head toward Caster.
His eyes slanted suspiciously toward the other Aspirant as a grim thought took root. ’This will be a problem.’
"Are you ready?" Bruce asked, his focus locked forward without even glancing at Felix.
Seeing that only two of the humans remained to face it, the Minotaur dragged its massive mace from its shoulder, lowering the head toward the ground.
Lightning crackled across its fra with renewed ferocity.
In unison, Felix and Bruce grabbed their uniforms.
With a single, forceful pull, they ripped the fabric away, revealing bare upper bodies lined with solid muscles and the visible perks of their heritage.
"Let’s do this," Felix smirked.
With a solid nod from Bruce, a loud, bone-jarring cracking sound filled the entire cavern.
Bruce began to grow in height, his fra expanding rapidly.
His pants stretched to their absolute limit, the fabric ripping at the edges as his muscle mass doubled.
Patches of thick brown fur, shot through with streaks of shimring silver, began to sprout across his skin.
His fingers elongated, shifting into deadly, obsidian-like claws.
Under the stunned, terrified gazes of the others, what stood before them was no longer even remotely human.
Standing at a towering three ters tall, the creature was coated in a dense blanket of fur.
Its black eyes burned with a seething, ancient rage, locked onto the Aberrant.
With every huff of air, it released a low, vibrating growl like a monster awakening from the depths of hell.
Each sound was as nacing as the roar of a prehistoric lion.
The creature stood on two feet like a man, but the similarity ended there.
Its legs, specifically its thighs, were twice the size of a normal human’s forearm.
Two thick arms ended in sharp, wicked claws that looked capable of splitting the very earth in two.
Jagged, clean rows of long, predatory teeth and prominent fangs lined the creature’s maw, adding to its ferociousness.
Despite its size, it looked athletically lean, its abdon defined by iron-hard muscles.
A powerful snout and a pair of sharp ears completed its lupine features.
Beside him, Felix had undergone his own partial change.
His hands were replaced with deadly claws, and his legs had transford into thick, bulging calves coated in brown fur.
"AWHOOOOO—!"
Bruce howled loudly, the sound vibrating through the ribs of everyone present.
He crossed his claws together, the friction making them ring like two swords clashing in the dark.
The Minotaur responded by dragging its mace across the stone, leaving deep, smoldering grooves in its wake.
The lightning arcing around its body intensified, casting long, jerky shadows against the walls.
A second later, the stalemate shattered.
BOOOOM—!
The trio bolted toward each other with thunderous, earth-shaking speed.
