Chapter 215: Still Dazed?
Chapter 213
Finally, after five torturous minutes, Ray was beginning to calm down.
The agonizing pain was receding at last, and the violent shaking of his limbs began to subside.
His breathing remained labored for a few monts, but after several deep inhalations, his heart rate slowed toward a steady rhythm.
The crushing headache, the debilitating dizziness, and the ntal fogginess were finally giving way to a newfound clarity.
He could finally identify his surroundings with certainty.
He knew exactly where the ceiling was and where the ground lay beneath him.
His senses were returning one by one, sharper than they had been before.
First was his tactile sense; he could feel the cold and slightly damp earth beneath him, a sensation akin to lying on a sheet of chilled glass.
Then, the pungent sll of heavy tal and ozone slamd into his nostrils, causing his nose to twitch involuntarily as his hearing and sight followed in rapid succession.
Though he hadn’t technically been unconscious while enduring the process, it still felt as though he were waking from a deep slumber, primarily because his entire mind had been in such a state of shambles.
He could hear chatter—worried murmurs and voices coming from all around him—which prompted him to tilt his head and scan the area.
To his surprise, even more familiar faces were now visible in the dim light.
"Kai... Felix, Chloe, Ice Queen and... and... who are you?" Ray asked, staring in Caster’s direction with a look of genuine confusion.
The boy offered no verbal reply whatsoever, simply maintaining his silent watch over the Aspirant, who continued to blink as he processed the situation.
"Oh, good gracious, you are actually alright," Kai breathed, a massive sigh of relief escaping his chest.
"For a mont there, I truly thought you weren’t going to make it, Grey."
Blink. Blink.
"Huh? Who the hell is Grey, you dumbass?!" Ray barked irritably.
With a defiant scoff, he began to pull himself upright into a sitting position when a familiar sound chid in his mind.
Tring!
[Evolution Complete]
[Congratulations: Host is now a Tribrid Adept]
’Eh? Tribrid what now?’ Ray blinked, his mind reeling from the new terminology.
Felix gazed at the boy, who had been attempting to rise to his feet only to freeze mid-motion.
Ray was now staring intently at the empty air as if sothing invisible was occupying his entire field of vision.
’Probably still a bit dazed from the trauma?’ Felix wondered.
"Er... Ray? You good?" Chloe asked in soft concern, noticing that the Tribrid’s eyes had widened significantly.
Ray didn’t give a reply for a long mont.
Finally, he lifted a hand and waved it dismissively toward her.
"Give
a mont," he said, his voice strained.
He then clamped his hand over his face while focusing entirely on the glowing, hovering screen in front of his eyes.
Van didn’t look confused, and neither did Kai.
They had already figured out what he was staring at, having been privy to the truth Ray had previously divulged to them.
Following his lead, they simply shrugged and walked over to a corner of the cavern, settling themselves down on the stone floor while breathing heavy sighs of relief.
Seeing as the two people closest to the boy weren’t overly worried by his strange behavior, the rest of the group decided to follow suit.
They sat down separately, attempting to enter a ditative state to see if they could regain their depleted ta-force in ti.
In this subterranean environnt, every drop of energy was precious.
Who knew what horrors they would encounter next in this strange world?
Who knew if they would even be able to find a way to escape?
Van wasn’t sitting idly, however.
His fingers hovered over the specialized bracelet provided by the Corps as he began the delicate process of trying to modify its internal components.
He figured that if he could tweak the sensors in ti, he might be able to scan their surroundings for a much wider radius—and perhaps find an actual escape route out of this nightmare.
anwhile, Ray remained sitting in silence, his hands covering his face as he carefully read through the details appearing on his system screen.
Ray felt a surge of adrenaline as the notifications continued to stack in his field of vision.
He took a few more steadying breaths, forcing his racing heart to slow down so he could process the massive influx of information.
Once the ntal fog fully lifted, he began to dissect the rewards one by one.
First, he pulled up the most important screen.
’Status tab.’
[Status]
[Na: Ray Dawson]
[Age: 15]
[Race: Tribrid Adept]
[Level: 10]
[Exp: 150/1200]
[HP: 40/90]
[MF: 0/55]
[Energy: 40/170]
{Attributes:}
[STR: 50>>> 55]
[AGI: 50]
[INT: 33]
[PER: 31>>>36]
[END: 37>>>42]
[Stat points: 5]
"Okay? Not bad," he muttered under his breath.
As he read the numbers, he could feel a fresh wave of raw power coursing through his veins.
For a split second, it felt as though his heightened senses might overload, but the sensation stabilized almost as quickly as it had arrived.
"Bloodline tab."
[Bloodline Data]
[Bloodlines: 3/3 available]
[Types: Lightning / Werewolf / Celestial]
[Resonance: 20>>>50/300]
[Lightning: 20%]
[Werewolf: 18%]
[Celestial: 11%]
Ray stared at the numbers, his brow furrowing in thought. ’Wait. System, I have a question.’
{Shoot.}
’This resonance thingy. What does it do? What’s the actual use of it? Heck, I don’t think I even truly understand this bloodline tab yet. Any explanation?’
{The resonance asures the specific amount of combined power your physical vessel can safely channel.
It dictates how many bloodlines can remain active simultaneously and determines the duration of a full transformation. In short: Resonance is the tric for your total Tribrid Capacity.}
Ray nodded slowly, translating the system’s technical jargon into his own terms.
’So... in plain English, it ans the Resonance tab asures how much power I can draw upon before my body suffers a severe backlash?’
{Affirmative. Attempting to surpass the limit while using all bloodline skills simultaneously will result in catastrophic physical feedback.
At your current level, you can safely utilize two bloodline skills at once, though you will still experience significant strain. Triple-stacking your abilities could cause your entire system to shut down.}
’50/300? Sheesh. So I can’t even go full Tribrid with that amount?’
{Correct. Furthermore, it regulates your threshold for total transformation. Fifty points grants you exactly ten minutes of full werewolf form.}
’Ten minutes, huh?’ Ray reflected on his previous encounter.
The last ti Bruce had taken the reins, it had only taken about five minutes before the body reached its breaking point.
The shutdown that followed the werewolf’s decision to push the limits had left Ray utterly spent.
How he had managed to walk out of the gate back then was still a minor miracle.
Ray nodded again, re-reading the prompts until the chanics were etched into his mind.
’Er. I think I finally get what those percentages beside the bloodlines are. They represent my mastery over each specific power, right?’
{It appears you are actually becoming smarter.}
’What the hell?!’
