Alexander glanced at the old man, who eyed him like a prey.

"Are you the owner?" Alexander asked softly, making sure not to appear rude.

"I think I asked first," the old man stated, raising his brows and glancing at Alexander’s attire.

Alexander’s eyes twitched since he didn’t like to submit to a commoner, but he had to. "Yes, I’m looking for books. A couple, to be honest," he replied, hoping it would bait the old man.

"Oh.." The old man’s eyes twinkled, and he hurriedly opened the door widely. "We don’t open this early, but for you, I will. Co in," he said enthusiastically.

Alexander smiled in delight since his plans weren’t doom after all. He followed the old man and entered the bookstore; it was clean and decent but not enough to impress him.

"Okay, what books are you looking for? We almost have everything here. Even the old, rotten ones," the old man stated, looking at the sheets of paper on his table.

"Umm," Alexander paused. He had prepared the plan but failed to think of the books he needed, and his pause caught the old man’s attention.

"I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Fred, practically the owner of this humble bookstore," Fred smiled softly, urging Alexander to speak more.

"Oh, nice to et you, Fred. You can call ..." Alexander halted. He hadn’t thought of having a new na.

"Are you alright?" Fred fixed his glasses while eyeing Alexander intently. He started having doubts and thought maybe it was a spy to gather information about his business.

At the sa ti, Alexander felt the shift from Fred’s aura, and he knew it wasn’t that good.

"Alex... Yes, you can call Alex. I’m studying to be a scholar, and I need to read almost all the books in the Pack," Alexander lied confidently, pushing his chest out to show dominance.

Fred only raised his eyebrow, shrugging Alexander’s show-off. "Anyways, you can na so of the books you want or look around," he said indifferently.

Alexander glanced at the shelves. He wanted to look at the contents, but he needed to go back for a eting. "Are you working alone?" he asked, sensing Maxim was nowhere in sight.

"Mister... Alex. We don’t hire more new workers in my humble bookstore," Fred answered, thinking Alex wanted to get hired there.

"No, you misunderstood. I’m simply wondering how you can accommodate this whole place due to your old age... but don’t get wrong. I don’t see you as an old man," Alexander fumbled in his last sentence when he saw Fred glared at him.

Fred sighed and lowered his glasses. "As an old man, I need to rest for a long ti. So, can you tell what you’re looking for?" he asked calmly, but there was irritation in his voice.

"Very well, I shall make haste," Alexander clasped his hands, wrecking his brain for any possible ideas he could rember. "I need a hundred books written about the Werewolf Packs... umm, information about mates and perhaps so novels. I prefer them to be older since I have read all the new ones."

Fred put down his quill. He was about to write Alexander’s orders but was flabbergasted. "A hundred books? Are you serious?" he asked, unsure.

"Yes, as a scholar, I need them all. I shall be back this afternoon," Alexander replied, satisfied by his work.

"Okay... but about the novels. What the would you like to read?" Fred asked, already feeling a headache due to the huge amount of orders.

"Well, maybe it’s about love and romance," Alexander tilted his head upon answering. He had never read one before, but it interested him now.

"Mister Alex, there are tons of genres and thes for romance," Fred clarified.

"You can recomnd whatever you think is the best," Alexander replied, checking the ti on his pocket watch. "And I need to go. I’ll be back by three in the afternoon."

"Wait! Mister!" Fred shouted, stopping Alexander’s tracks. "Do you want to read novels about the sa genders?"

Alexander frowned. "Sa genders?"

"Yes, like female to female... male to male," Fred replied, smiling awkwardly.

Alexander shuffled on his feet. He was confused about whether to acknowledge Fred’s words or go, but his curiosity made him stay.

"Are there books about... male and male?" Alexander stepped closer and whispered.

"Y-yes, Mister. It’s just not common to be read in the Pack, but I need to sell them sohow, or else they will rot in my storage," Fred replied. His eyes stared at Alexander’s figure, hoping he would take interest.

"Okay... I will take those," Alexander nodded in confirmation since his face remained hidden by his hood. He turned in haste and left the bookstore for his eting.

On the other hand, Fred stared at Alexander’s figure, walking away. "What an interesting fellow, and oh!" he said, grasping his throat and imdiately searching for water. "Wow, that’s the longest conversation I’ve had with a custor."

Fred wasn’t much of a talker and preferred to have short conversations, but he couldn’t deny that he loved money more than saving his saliva from speaking.

"Ah, a hundred books. That’s the biggest order I have throughout my lifeti," Fred sighed contentedly. "And I could finally sell them..." he continued, referring to his sa-gendered books.

Fred walked to one of the shelves where so sa-gendered books were located. "My babies, finally. Soone will appreciate you," he whispered, gliding his hands on the glass wall.

"I wonder if Mister Alex would like my novels. I created them from my own desires, my own lust, and pleasures from my youth," Fred whispered, his dull eyes shining brightly while reminiscing the days of his youth.

By then, Fred stayed on that shelf for a couple more minutes when he heard the door open.

"Hey, Fred! I’m back!" Maxim exclaid after arriving.

"This boy..." Fred whispered as he raised an eyebrow at Maxim while he fixed his glasses. "Ah, Maxim. It’s a good thing you arrived early. We have a huge order from an unknown custor."
