Wen Qiao looked at her aningfully, silent for a few seconds before suddenly asking, "Do you like Fu Jinghen?"
"What are you talking about? How could I possibly like Brother Jinghen?"
Lin Ruochun raised her head sowhat frantically, her small face, pallid from falling into the water, now flushed a deep red.
Wen Qiao observed her with a scrutinizing, half-smiling gaze, "Really? Since you don’t like Fu Jinghen, why then do you hate because of him?"
"I just simply can’t stand the things you do, don’t overthink it!"
Although Lin Ruochun’s explanation lacked persuasiveness, the sincerity and openness in her eyes were undeniable. Wen Qiao hadn’t expected her dislike for him to stem from such a simple reason.
She thought about the original content of the story; Lin Ruochun wasn’t an important character, only appearing occasionally, and Fu Jinghen wasn’t the male lead either. His storyline wasn’t very detailed.
Wen Qiao had only guessed that Lin Ruochun liked Fu Jinghen based on her actions after their engagent in the original scenario, but now it seed she might have been mistaken?
If she had known she would be transplanted into the story, she would have finished the entire book. Quitting after seeing the original leads end up together was evidently an unwise decision.
"Don’t worry, I won’t make foolish mistakes anymore. I will live well with your Brother Jinghen."
Actually, as Wen Qiao spoke the last sentence, she felt a bit guilty.
Because she wasn’t sure she could do it, even though her fascination with Fu Jinghen hadn’t waned yet.
"Really?" Lin Ruochun seed unsure as she asked again, only relaxing when she saw Wen Qiao nod her head. She stepped forward, shoulder to shoulder with her, murmuring, "Although I still don’t like you much, considering you saved my life, I’ll temporarily side with you. I despise that Jiang Wei even more. If she takes Brother Jinghen away, I will look down on you."
Wen Qiao listened to her words, feeling a bit amused. They were only a few months apart in age, yet Lin Ruochun was still so childish, overly naive, obviously coddled too well by her family.
Yet, she hadn’t experienced any real hardships either, also pampered by her family from a young age, so why wasn’t she as gullible as Lin Ruochun?
"Is that right?" Wen Qiao retorted, "Then why were you defending on Weibo before?"
"I that was! That was..." Lin Ruochun’s cheeks reddened, her lips stamred for a long ti before she squeezed out, "I was protecting Brother Jinghen’s face. You’re his fiancée, whatever trouble it caused wouldn’t be good for him either."
"But not many people know about and Fu Jinghen," Wen Qiao said, her eyes twinkling with amusent as she looked at her, "We are in a hidden marriage, you know."
Under the dim streetlight, Wen Qiao’s makeup-free face was plain yet elegant, her wet hair sticking to her cheeks, slightly disheveled, but her eyes sparkled with humor, deep and inviting, catching Lin Ruochun off guard.
Wen Qiao noticed her zoning out, pinched her thumb and index finger together, and snapped her fingers in front of her, "Snap out of it, what are you daydreaming about."
Lin Ruochun realized she had almost fallen into the trap of Wen Qiao’s beauty and had been caught red-handed, her face flushed even redder, her voice involuntarily raised, "Still, so people knew about it, all the high society big shots who attended your engagent party! Whatever happened before... never mind, it’s all in the past, but if you cause more trouble after the engagent, it still wouldn’t look
