Since they were neighbors, Wen Qiao’s balcony was only a ter away from Lin Ruochun’s.
Sitting in the rocking chair on her balcony, Wen Qiao watched as Lin Ruochun turned off her lights and then reached into a plastic bag on the ground to hurl a bottle cap towards her balcony door.
The slightly irritating noise disturbed Lin Ruochun greatly. She slid open her balcony door and stepped out, "Who is it, acting so shalessly and disturbing people’s sleep late at night?"
"So you know it’s shaless, looks like you’re not stupid after all."
Wen Qiao kept throwing bottle caps, one even hitting Lin Ruochun accurately on the forehead.
Lin Ruochun was furious, "Wen Qiao! Are you sick?"
"What went around cos around. You kept up last night, so I’m keeping you up tonight," Wen Qiao leisurely stood up from the rocking chair, walked to the edge of the balcony, and looked at her, "Now we’re even. But if there’s another ti..."
"What will happen then?"
Lin Ruochun looked at her disdainfully; she wanted to see what Wen Qiao could really do to her.
"I rember you’re afraid of snakes, right?" Wen Qiao said as she opened her phone’s gallery, clicked on a picture, and held it up to her, "I happen to have a pet snake, and I’ve missed it during these days on set. Maybe I should bring it over? It could keep you company."
Lin Ruochun looked at the picture of the thin snake coiled around Wen Qiao’s arm and her eyes widened in fear; she stamred, "No, that won’t be necessary."
Seeing her threat had worked, Wen Qiao put away her phone, her tone becoming friendly, "Good girl, go back and sleep."
Lin Ruochun nodded stiffly, turned around, and walked with rigid steps. When she ca close to her glass door, she zipped inside swiftly.
After shutting the glass door, Wen Qiao could still faintly hear Lin Ruochun’s scream, "Mom, I want to go ho!"
Wen Qiao chuckled and prepared to head back to her room.
Catching a glimpse of the photo on her phone, she also shivered slightly in response to the piercing, lifelike eyes in the image.
It was indeed a bit spooky late at night.
Luckily, she had Photoshopped the image during the day.

Wen Qiao’s threat had worked incredibly well; for many following days, she slept until her alarm rang, and the neighbor caused no more trouble.
Sotis, she would see Lin Ruochun without makeup, dark circles almost reaching her mouth.
Probably disturbed by the fright but constrained by the previous incident, Lin Ruochun did not dare change her room to avoid being labeled as troubleso.
Perhaps unable to endure it any longer, before today’s shooting, Lin Ruochun cautiously approached Wen Qiao when no one was around and asked, "Did you really get a snake?"
Seeing her trembling, Wen Qiao did not have the heart to scare her any further—she could not afford the consequences if Lin Ruochun beca ntally unstable soday.
"Of course not, I was just scaring you."
"!"
Lin Ruochun suddenly relaxed, then tensed up again, "Then what about that photo?"
Wen Qiao, in an excellent mood, replied, "Photoshopped."
Taking advantage of the dim lighting that night, and knowing Lin Ruochun was already frightened, Wen Qiao had played her cards right.
"Despicable!" Lin Ruochun cursed.
"As long as it works," Wen Qiao didn’t care at all and smiled at Lin Ruochun, "Although I don’t have a snake now, that doesn’t an I won’t get one in the future. If you disturb my sleep again because of this, don’t bla for being rude."
Lin Ruochun, unnerved by Wen Qiao’s cheery deanor and recalling the snake from the photo, shuddered and quickly walked away.
Couldn’t she just avoid trouble if she couldn’t provoke it?
