There was a tiny faction of students who, with nothing to do over sumr break, visited the variety show’s official Weibo account daily to check in and inquire:
"When is ’Unexpected’ actually coming out?"
But the staff responsible for the official Weibo acted as if they’d never even gotten there and ignored the inquiries.
Everyone had assud that since they followed the show’s official Weibo, they’d at least get a Weibo post announcing the program’s broadcast.
But they all underestimated Director Li’s dedication to the phrase "unexpected"; the variety show aired silently, with no Weibo updates or any promotion whatsoever.
The first person to discover the airing was a working dog who had to overti at the company on weekends and was looking for a variety show to watch while eating.
After grabbing so takeout, this person opened a video app looking to find so variety show to accompany their al, only to see on the app’s hopage, in a recomndation box, three huge characters: "It’s out!" Looking at the background, it was the familiar pitch-black silhouette from the "Unexpected" official Weibo’s promotional poster.
Only now, one of the silhouettes had been replaced with a photo of Wen Qiao.
As a seasoned surfer of the internet, the working dog was aware of the incidents that had surrounded Wen Qiao, so stumbling upon her participation in this variety show truly was a bit of a shock.
Even though they weren’t a hater of Wen Qiao nor did they care about her, they clicked out of curiosity, driven by the long-anticipated show finally airing to see whether it held up to expectations.
As they clicked in, the scene displayed on the screen was the mont Wen Qiao was held hostage at the airport.
?
Are variety shows really playing it this big now?
The working dog, startled, yanked open their takeout box with such force that the lid sprang up, splattering oil all over them. But they didn’t have ti to deal with it, completely engrossed as they continued watching.
At first, it was intended as just sothing to kill ti, but as the show progressed, seeing Wen Qiao rcilessly expose the production team’s scheming while feigning innocence and leaving them helpless, the working dog found themselves unable to pull away.
After taking three screenshots, they posted on Weibo—
@NineToFiveWorkingDog: Wanted to find a casual show to watch during lunch break, didn’t expect to stumble upon the variety show I’ve longed for. Was indifferent when I saw Wen Qiao was invited, thought to see what waves the production team could make. But lo and behold, I’ve been captivated by Miss Wen Qiao; she’s really so witty! So funny! With a bit of "tea-flavored" humor, I’m seriously in love!
Everyone go watch!!!
PS: The program is live broadcast, they can’t fake anything.
This Weibo post was picked up by locals, and gradually more and more people flooded into the "Unexpected" livestream. However, those who joined later had missed out, as the director had already switched scenes to Qi Ming.
Compared to Wen Qiao’s confident and lively scene that left the production crew in dismay, Qi Ming was full of resentnt.
He rubbed his neck glaring at the caraman and scriptwriter in front of him, "You guys actually knocked out a cast mber and kidnapped him onto the car; can you get any more outrageous? Did a human even co up with this plan?"
If it weren’t for the car roof overhead, the scriptwriter felt that, given Qi Ming’s thunderous deanor, the anger inside him could have sent them straight into the sky.
